I am making a flip book in flash. I am using swf files as individual pages. User have the option to print pages. I am converting the swf into a btimap using bitmap data but when I print the test is not clear and all pixelated. Is there any way to improve the printing quality of pages?

How can I print multiple pages in Flash (based on dynamic HTML content that might vary in length)? For instance, how would I grab the text that is beyond the limits of that first page (the printJob.pageHeight)? I can get the text fields text height and subtract the printJob's page height but how would I grab 'the leftover' text.
View 7 RepliesI had this working and then I placed the make movie clip and printjob parts of the script into functions and the wheels fell off. So I step backward and try to simplify it but it is still not working. It's been years since I worked in Flash but I've been asked to give this project a shot so I'm kind of learning to ride the bike again.

I try to print all frames of a movieClip where each frame is a unique page. My movieClip have 3 different frames. The result is that I have 3 pages, but it's printing only the first one. I tried to call
myPrintJob.addPage(clipAImprimer, null, null,1); and
myPrintJob.addPage(clipAImprimer, null, null,2);
to make a test and it's the same result. I confirm that my clip has 3 different frames. I tried too label #p each frame but it's not effective for PrintJob. I have Flash CS4 and I can't use Flex, Air and Catalyst.
I've got a flash move that has a movieclip off-stage that contains a textbox that stretches with the text I put in it.

This correctly tagets the clip I want but only prints out one page. How do i get it to print multiple pages if the content is long enough?
I have a program in which I am running a number of for loops which are doing a number of different things.I pull in data from an xml file and then step through that data to dynamically create arrays, populate the arrays, and create and modify movie clips.
The program I'm building is similar in scope to one I developed in Director many years ago, and in that environment we had to actually put breaks in using timers to ensure that the data would be processed and that the system wouldn't choke.
What I'm seeing with this flash version of the application is similar and I suspect the same. Basically, when navigating from the frame where the scripts are processed to the frame where the movie clips are displayed, there are times when it works perfectly and times when things are out of whack. I put in a 5 second delay (arbitrarily) to see if this would resolve the issue and on my system at least it does. But I need some advice on coming up with a real solution.
I would like to know how to track my pages with google analytics to see which pages are getting the most clicks. My site is XML / Flash the menu is xml. Could I put the tracking code on each of the menu items in the xml file?
View 7 RepliesI'm trying out a page-flip program that tells me to create the pages as jpegs within a folder named "pages" in the Library. When I try to run it, it tells me it can't find the jpegs. I can get it to work locally by including the full URL (i.e., "...My Documentsedinnerpartiesimagesp3-large.jpg), but I know this isn't embedded in the swf file.
View 1 RepliesWhen publishing a project from Camtasia Studio 7, the params list includes a setting for quality. But instead of the usual "high" value, it sets it to "best". I Google'd and searched these forums but had no luck finding any definitive explanation if these two settings are equivalent. Can anybody enlighten? This topic also spurred another question, does the quality default to the highest value if the parameter value is invalid?
View 2 RepliesI have a sprite that has a scrollbar that uses the scrollrect feature. The sprite has several bitmaps and textfields. When I print the outer sprite (The one with the scrollrect) all of the textfields outside the scrollrect are cut after the first line. In case anyone else is having problems with printing sprites with scrollrects using the bitmap printing option fixes and prints most of the stuff in the sprite. Excluding all textfields outside of the scrollrect. This however can be fixed partially by embedding your fonts.
So now the only problem left is printing multiline textfields that are outside the scrollrect. P.S. Imho the scrollrect should have nothing to do with the printed area of the sprite because the printJob.addPage has a printarea parameter.
I'm on to designing my 3rd app. I have two already in the Android and Apple stores. Fairly simple ideas these were. Now, I've come across a bit of a challenge. I want to design an app that contains a database of text files, many also containing pictures. I'd like to have it where you can view these files on, lets say, the iPad, and then print them wirelessly, or send them to yourself in an email, so they can be printed elsewhere.
I have considered just creating an ebook and selling that on the store, but I don't think apple allows you to print from these books. Has to be in PDF, and having an app would be a much better way of distributing and updating it. My idea is creating something quite siimilar to how Apples 'Pages' works, just without any editing capabilities. Select document and print. Sounds simple enough but I can't find any code or tutorials to help me out with this. What I want to know is... can I add a button, that will open up and use the printing options built into iOS? Is this possible to do in Flash with AS3 or would I need to learn how to use Flash Builder and Flex? Could it possibly be done in InDesign?
I have a dinamic gallery loaded from a xml file, but the quality of the images (jpg) in flash is very low. Is there a solution to this problem?
View 11 RepliesI am designing my whole app in photoshop and currently in the process of moving all of the images to flash to add interactivity. The promblem is, when we put the app on the iphone the quality of the graphic is lowered for some reason. When I am building in photoshop my settings: 640px by 960px 72 ppi Saving out as a .jpg When I send the jpg as a picture to my iphone 4 and view it in my "Photos" app, it looks great, but on the test app it loses quality. Does anyone have anyone have any idea whats going on here?

View 10 RepliesI am converting a regular movie from Windows moviemaker wmv export (exported at highest quality) and converting it with Xilisoft flv converter (at highest quality upon conversion) and I noticed the output quality of the final FLV is degradated a little. Some of the symptoms are: lower light, slight pixelation,and loss of crisp detail. Audio sounds great but why does the picture lose it's clarity from how it looks in moviemaker? I can see the crispness of the outlines in the video in Moviemaker, but in the final flv, it loses that. Is there anything I can do to make it keep it's original crisp look like how it looks in MM, or do you have to expect a loss of quality when using flvs?

When I encode my Flash files to Quicktime then to FLV they look perfect but once uploaded onto my site and played back through the gallery the quality suffers, especially text which loses it's vector crispness.Url...The videos are under 'portfolio' the best example of my problem is the INTEL video 3 rows down, second left, text looks rounded when it should be sharp.I have run the videos through Adobe media encoder and After Effects and again whilst looking fine when played locally they degenerate once uploaded.

View 2 RepliesSo I have recently aquired Flash CS4 and the Quicktime Export is completely different from any version before.I create a lot of 3-4 minute shorts in Flash and have always enjoyed the ease of QT export, but when I export with CS4 I get all kinds of ghosting, even on 5-10 second clips so breaking up the fla file's scenes is no help.After doing a lot of online research I see a few people have similar problems, but no concrete explanations or solutions.Has Flash-to-Quicktime compatability been disabled?I see that the "Quicktime Movie" export options is not available, only the "Quicktime" export, which yields inferior results. Since I export to the web and for dvd I don't want to have to export PNG sequences and rebuild the soundtrack, but is there simply no longer quality compatability between the two programs?Do I need to ditch Flash for Toon Boom?
View 8 Repliesmy flash movie looks great when it is in it's .swf format. However, when I use the export to .avi option it comes out as REALLY horrible quality. Exporting to quicktime does nothing. I've been looking online and have only found people having the same problems with no solution. I've tried several conversion programs to just convert the swf to avi, but all of them are bad. They're all great in quality but half are fast by a good 30 seconds in sound and the other half replaces my black background to white! People use flash everyday & obviously overcome such a simple problem!

View 4 RepliesI have a simple Flash project.It includes some jpg images with text on them.When I export and the click on the swf file locally, the quality is very clear.When I open the html file to view the embedded swf, the quality is severely degraded.Is there anything I can do to help this? This is the html file with the degraded pictures (most notable in the text).If you click through you will see some of the text is really hard to read, where if I view the swf file locally it is perfectly clear.In publish settings I have jpg quality set to 100%.

I would like to incorporate Flash animations into video editing applications but when I save the Flash files as movies the quality is not there (Flash affects fall off, trails and such). My swf files look great there is no lag and the motion is clean. How can I get swf file quality to video? What is create a Projector?
