With CS5.5 on OSX, after saving a file and reopening it, certain frames (and their artwork) end up missing, i.e. aren't saved with the rest of the file. This happens with random frames. Other artwork, created after these frames, is still there.

Whenever I add shape hints to a shape tween the shape disappears in the between frames. I am using CS5 on Vista. I using files from [URL]to practice.
View 2 RepliesOk here is my situation. I've developed a quiz application. Their is 30 frames. 2-29 is the presentation that contains the answers. Frame 30 has the quiz on it. When the user hits submit (once theyre all answered) and if their are wrong answers, it does not continue and it highlights the wrong questions and sets some _visible = false buttons to true. The buttons say "Review answer" which is going to take them back to the frame that has the answer and once that review is over it goes back to frame 30.
My problem is that when the user returns to the quiz frame, everything is reset. How can I store what the user has already selected so when they come back to frame 30 everything they filled out is still their?
i have this little display and when you click on certain items their alpha changes to 0.1, this worked fine until i added another frame with a different display on another frame. so now when you change frames and go to the new display then go back to the old display on frame 1 the alpha properties are all reset back to 1. So to fix this i thought i could simply add all the movieclips with an alpha less than one to an array when i left the frame then when you come back to the frame you could reset all the moviclips in that array back to having an alpha of 0.1. But this doesnt seem to work. here is the code i used.[code]But this code doesnt seem to work, the strange thing is even when i add some trace statements they tell me that the alpha does in fact equal 0.1 but visibally they haven't changed.
View 2 RepliesI have created drawings in Adobe Flash and saved them as .fla files. However, when I try to save the files as JPEGs beyond a certain resolution (such as 4000x4000 pixels), the image gets altered. Essentially, it get's cropped, but some background is left in the remaining pixels.

how i can have a text in a testfied disappear after say 5 sec or so. the thing is i have displayed a file for visiters to download and have handled the SELECT EVENT, CANCEL EVENT, PROGRESS EVENT COMPLETE EVENT AND IOERROR EVENT OF THE FILE REFERENCE in one dynamic text field which is all working alright but the last message stays in the text field which is what i want to get rid of after a few seconds.

View 4 RepliesIf I have a button on my screen that I want to make a box appear when clicked, how would I go about doing that? It also needs to disappear after 10 seconds. I am not sure if this is an issue, but it needs to appear on the screen while everything else is happening underneath it. So the rest of the animation must continue on as this appears above it.

I've found some really good tutorials, but I can't use them because every time I draw something on the stage, the resultant drawing disappears immediately after I release the mouse. Since I can't see it, I can't select and manipulate it. I captured the behavior and stuck it on youtube. I don't have a mike on this system so there's no sound. [URL]. If I create the file with ActionScript 2.0 instead of 3.0, I get outlines of the objects, but not the objects themselves. That's not on the vid, but I'd rather use 3.0 anyway.
View 3 RepliesI am making a few language flash cards in adobe flash cs5 with as3. the flashcard is a movie clip and when you push a button (located on the bottom left hand corner of the flashcard) the movie clip flips the card to give the translation. it looks a little unprofessional to have the button stay in place while the card flips. is there a way to make the button disappear for the duration of the movie clip, and then reappear at the end?

When I render the SWF at first only the content on the onstage area is visible but if I resize/enlarge the window I can also see the car(content) lying outside the stage just like in the flash file. How can I make sure that no off stage content is visible at all in the final SWF?
View 4 RepliesI have a rectangle drawn on the screen. I exported the center of the rectangle for action script. I have an instance of the center exported rectangle overlaying my main rectangle. I do this so that I can change the back color with actionscript. I have the blending property of the overlaying rectangle set to overlay so that borders of my original rectangle are visible.
My problem is when I scale the flash window the borders of my rectangle sometimes dissappear.
in the above page it is behaving just like wanted, EXCEPT want the top and left side (perhaps) to be 'pinned', meaning when resizing the browser window, the top does not disappear. I like that it resizes, and scales, yet, keeps the whole viewport filled. Don't like that it can disappear at the top if the browser window isnt just right.
if it is not possible to scale smaller but can scale larger, and keep the browser window full, that is ok too.
I have a large library that I am organizing of vector only files, some imported from Illustrator.
When I re-name some of the items other Movieclip items in the library lose their contents and all that is left is an empty symbol.
I repeated this several times and tried to find workarounds. Like duplicating the symbol. This worked for the one item but then it deleted another symbols contents.
I have a FLA file that when I open it and I rollover any title in a palette window all the text in that and every window disappears. For instance the title "Timeline" will vanish. And most of the text in the palette vanishes, for instance all the text in the properties panel disappears like "Position and Size". This does not occur with any of my many other FLA files. I have had some issues with fonts lately. After deleting some bad fonts, my FLA ask me to remap some fonts, which I do. Everything in the FLA appears to be working fine.

Most of the objects perform perfectly, but the ones on the edge of the stagedisappear when I export to video. First one called "elearning" and second one called "website" (I mean the istances names).Each of this movie clip runs trough an animation of 20 frames splitted in 2 parts. So it starts from frame 1 and stops at frame 10. Than a button will command it to run trough frames 10 to 20.What I want to achieve is that if one of the two clips is on frame 10, than the button should command one clip to go from 1 to 10 end the first one from 10 to 20. To explain better, this clips, appear on the stage on frames 1 to 10 and disappear from 10 to 20.This button should command the elearning clip to disappear ( and so to go from frame 10 to 20) and at the same time it should command the website clip to appear on the stage.But if the elearning clip is already hidden, it should stay hidden.I have tried to write this piece of code but it does not work. Cause when I click on the website movie, it will command the elearning clip to go from 10 to 20 anyway, and it does not check if the elearning clip is hidden or shown.

I've inherited a flash project @ work and I need to save a keyframe as it's own .swf file, but I don't recall how to get Flash to do just that.
The flash .fla file seems to hold multiple keyframes that need to be saved as their own .swf files, which are referred to in the Actionscript by name.
I've figured out the editing, but this business of keyframes i've forgotten how to manipulate.
I have both CS3 and CS4, I now work only in CS4 with some exceptions. If I open CS4 start a new project then save after working in it the file saves with the cs3 icon. When I doubleclick the file to open it defaults back to opening in CS3.Only way to have files default and open in CS4 is to choose the icon of the CS3 (which is really a CS4 file) and choose open with other, choose the CS4 app and click on it so it opens in CS4 and then only does the icon changes to a cs4 icon.
View 6 RepliesI'd been using flash cs4 fine for a few weeks before this happened but in the last few days whenever i save a file i'm working on i can no longer preview it (by preview i mean ctrl + enter) my cursor turns to the symbol to show it's working for a few moments but once i move the mouse this goes back to being my normal cursor. Whenever i try and publish a file i get the error "Parameter is incorrect". Before i save the work the file previews fine and even blank documents that i start and immediately save will not allow me to preview or publish them following the save
I'm running w7 64bit on a quad core with 4gb ram. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but this hasn't helped. My flash professional cs4 is also fully updated.I've attached one of my .fla files that to me i can't use properly anymore, it's just a basic animation of squares forming the words 'enemy down' on a black background.
I have a couple of Flash CS5 users who are having problems saving files. They can open the file, edit/make changes to the file and save it and from all appearances the save has been successful - the save progress bar has popped up and completed and everything "looks" ok.
However the file changes were not saved. This problem is intermittent, however if it is occuring in the current flash "session" then it will affect all save actions performed - including attempting to save the existing file under a new filename. I've checked for obvious problems on the PC including disk errors and readonly files and so on but I'm otherwise at a loss to explain why this is happening?
I bought a flash intro for my website, I edit it, then I go to save it which works. When I try to re-open my saved file, Adobe Flash crashes. why it keeps crashing whenever I go to re-open the project.
View 1 RepliesI have created a simple flash animation for my employer. I basically have a square that changes color depending on which of three buttons are clicked. This is replicated about 30 times on the page. There is also about 15 circles that have a toggle button created so that when you click on the circle, they change between two colors. As I said, a very simple application.
Now, I need to save the data so that whenever someone new opens the swf, the current color combination is displayed. My way of thinking, with my limited AS3 experience, is that each button click, in addition to changing the color of a movie clip, should also send the data to a server. Then when someone opens the application fresh, I can use the URLLoader to load the most current data.
Am I on the right track, or am I missing it completely? I think I can figure out the URLLoader, but what code would I use to create the text file or xml file?Here is a snippet of my code:

By clicking on either the rtm_13335, ok_13335, or us_13335 buttons, they will change the f13335 movie clip to the appropriate color (blue, green, or red). The default color is green.
What I would like to do is make the movie clip red, for example, then another person opens the swf, and the movie clip is red as opposed to the default green because I saved the current state to a text or xml file.
So I've got an .swf file embedded in a document (SMART board in this case, but a simple Word doc would probably serve in the same fashion). I'm trying to replicate the same functionality I see in another .swf. Basically its got a configuration menu where you can open and configure the .swf to behave differently, then save off and have it keep that. More importantly, if I close the document and re-open, it keeps the configuration. Harder yet, if I mail the document to someone else, it will keep the configuration.
Oops, its that last step that kills me. I understand how to use shared objects to save settings locally. I don't believe they're using server based shared objects in this case (no maintained server for it). So how can they be saving settings that travel with the document?
I have in mind a very basic swf file that allows someone to enter data (via dynamic text box), submit this data (via php), which in turns saves it as a file on the Server. This file (.txt) would be used to populate text on the main site. Most of this seems quite straight forward, and standard practice, apart from actually saving the data as a particular file and on the server (or overriding an existing file), which I'm sure comes up against problems such as FTP access and everything else, but I was wondering if someone might have an insight on how this could be done?

So, having used CS5 to create the whole site/presentation how much will I lose back-saving it to CS4? I'm worried I'm going to have to do a lot of the same work twice.
View 2 RepliesI use a custom color palette in Flash CS5.5, it was originally created in flash 8. I have it saved as default in the swatches tab. Every time I create a new document it loads this original color palette. But after I save the file, close it and re open it, it always loads the web 216 palette.
