Professional :: Button Container In Button Container?

What I am trying to do is basicly a button, where I can exchange the color of the button and the displayed icon (square, question mark, arrow etc.) via script separately.
Currently I have two containers. One is a MovieClip container for the icons, where I have a different icon in each frame and another MovieClip container for the button backgrounds, containing the same button with different colors in each frame. The icon container is the same for all frames of the button container.
Its instance has a name. In the script layer there is just a stop(); in every frame. Now the problem is that due to background and icon both being a button symbol (they need to be in order for them to have the 'down' and 'over' states), that the build-in click events are handled separately, meaning, that when the icon is clicked, only the icon's state is changed to 'down' and if the button is clicked, only the button's state is changed to 'down'.
I am facing a issue in Flash container. I am having a project which has main container which call different SWFs into it. Now I call this main container file into another container, and their problem starts. Many option doesn't work properly which generally have _root, _parent etc...
If I want to run project (main container SWF and child SWFs) into another container file which place on a website. I want to show whole project from this container file so what I need to do?
I have flip_mc which contains listSide_mc and videoInfoSide_mc both of the above mc's contain a button name spin_btn.My flip_mc should rotate around the y axis and swapping whichever of the 2 (listSide_mc and videoInfoSide_mc) should be visible.All the rotating and adding a child stuff works fine.BUT the whole flip_mc seems to be a button, the spinIt function runs when I click anywhere on the mc, it should only happen when I click the spin_btn buttons.[code]
anyway i can move a container by holding down a button?for example if create a button and name it Btn_Right and the container is named fmcont.when Btn_Right is held down i want it to move fmcont to the right.
I've created several frames, and buttons inside them. With the click on a button inside a frame, I need to highlight the frame.how to access the whole movie clip with the click on a button that is a part of it (what keyword, syntax etc) . The button is a part of the frame (same movie clip) and this has to be done with the help of this button (not by adding an event listener on the whole movie clip);
I'm working with several nested movie clips. My Main container (the GUI), and the content MC's. The Main Container loads, via a button, another SWF file into the MC "_root.content" (_root.content.loadMovie("filename.swf"))
Within that loaded swf file I've got a script to load information from an XML file, and add it to several dynamic text boxes. The XML loads fine, and the SWF file works fine, as long as it isn't in my container movie.. itmHeader = _root.attachMovie("movieName", "movieAlias")
I have tried root, parent, and this.. and none of them work while the SWF file is loaded into the container movie.. and the only one that works when I run the SWF file by it's self _root.attachMovie is the only command that shows the information as intended (at all).
I'm creating a site with buttons (movie buttons) targeting a container clip on the root which targets transitions in external swfs. I'm having trouble with my code in targeting the container.
I know how to do It with a normal button but not with a button inside of a movie clip...
I can use movie buttons for this because they just look better.
Am I missing something or it is just flash? I have a main SWF with an empty MC holder and all of the main navigation button on actions. When the buttons are clicked it then loads an external SWF into the empty MC. I am having trouble telling the button to load the movie once and then stop loading if someone clicks on the link again. I want to prevent someone from double clicking to cause the animation to blink. *rapidly click on "home" to see what I mean.

I have a swf that loads external swfs. I am trying to add a mute button to the container swf that controls the volume, so the user can mute and unmute the sound. However, I cannot figure out how to accomplish this. I cant get setVolume from AS2 to do the job. I have also tried SoundTransform.volume=0 and that didnt work.
In a Flex Mobile project I have a simple itemRenderer where I'm trying to create an "bubble" texting effect, similar to ichat or iphone (just so you get what im going for). But if the text is longer than the screen it runs off, rather than just going down a line.
If I set Group thats holding the rectangle(to create the bubble effect) and the label to 100% it works and keeps it from exceeding the list containers bounds, BUT the group is always at 100% and looks bad, I'm trying to keep the "bubble" JUST AROUND the text.
Anyway so, at the top of my itemRenderer I tried specifying:
And here's my layout I figured since msg_container has a width of 100% I was hoping bubble_lable_group would just not exceed that but...it doesnt...it just runs off. I tried setting a max width but that does not allow you to input percents. And just to say it 1 more time. I know if i set bubble_lable_group width to 100% it works, and keeps it from going off the edge, but then the rectangle "bubble" stretches all the way across and just looks bad.

I have a loop that goes through data from a book and displays it. The book is not consistent in it's layout so I am trying to display it in two different ways. First way(works fine) is to load the text from that section in to a panel and display it. The second way is to create a new panel (panel creates fine) and then add collapsable panels(nested) to that panel. Here is the code from the else loop.

The code for the other buttons is the same but with other arguments. Now do I also need to integrate a loadMovie in the different button actions, to load the different ext.swf's in a container on the stage, but I only want the swf's to load after the callback is finished (when the squares qre not moving any more) How does the loadMovie should look like?
I am creating an flex Air project,so mxml file will run. I have circles in one Big circle at one side and will be same on other side.
Now how to drag any circle from any Big circle to other side. Or it could be like any two container having circles, then how to drag and drop circle?
For one circle i am able to do drag and drop.But I want one Big circle on left hand side and one big circle on right hand side .And small circles with class names will be in these big circles.Now i want to drag and drop those small circles in big circles.Big cicles should not move. I need to place an image into a container. The problem is that I will not know the size of the image or the container beforehand, so it all has to be dynamic.this is how I started (have not gotten to stage(or container) changing size yet. No matter what I try, either all the images are the same width, or they are all the same height. If some images are portrait and other landscape, I don't want all the images to be X pixels high. In this variation of the code, all the images turn out the same height, regardless of portrait or landscape.

I'm currently working on a custom component which extends Canvas (let's call it SuperCanvas) ; it's basically a container that let you zoom & pan its contents. It would be too long to explain why, but I can't use scrollRect, so I was forced to declare a Canvas object (called innerCanvas)... inside my SuperCanvas (I know, not very nice =/) I would like to know if there's a proper way to "redirect" the creation of my component's children in this canvas.
On the Mac, everything works fine. I load a .swf into an ADM Flash Player Item in the Illustrator SDK and the .swf pulls some information from an options.xml file on local machine to create the UI.On Windows the .swf seemingly won't load info from other files on the computer. I can get the .swf to load inside the ADM Flash Player Item, but it seems like it can't access the options.xml file.When I run the .swf OUTSIDE of the illustrator container, everything works as it is supposed toI thought it might be a security/permissions issue, but wouldn't that come into play even when it's run outside of illustrator
I have a swf file but when I put it on a server at work, it is blocked. I get a black screen that just shows three dots as if it was loading. Nothing comes up. The swf has an FLVPlayback component which links to an external flv file. After talking with tech support locally, I found out that the swf is being read by the server scanners as an MP4 container and that is why it's being blocked. I would like to know if there is a way I can generate the swf without it being read as an MP4 container so it will work here.
Firefox throws the flash file out of it's container? The page behaves correctly in IE8 (32bit). I posted in DW forums who suggested it was a flash issue and not DW. [URL]
I have a main swf that will load external swfs into a container. I need to detect the end of the loaded external swf in order to start to load and play a new one into the same container. The problem is that i do not know what the length of the external swfs will be, and will have no control over the development of them, so i cannot place a variable at the end of their animation which would allow me to detect from the main movie its end. I also cannot rely on the _totalFrames property because the loaded swf might not have all the animation inside its main timeline.
I'm creating a master movie that will load 4 external swf's. To do this, I made a container of sorts by having an animated screen rising up. I created an empty movie clip and titled it "empty_mc". I dragged it onto the "container screen" but when I press any specific button to load one of the external swf's, they don't maintain the container size.
So, how do I ensure when a button is pressed for a particular swf, that it stays within the confines of the container? To see what I'm trying to do, here is the site: [URL]
Some of the buttons aren't working yet. However, the Drag and Drop one does for sure...just out of scale of the container.
I'm experimenting with how to do this by this code by using loadMovie and loadMovieNum. I believe I'm supposed to use loadMovie if I want it to be inside a container. I know the code is messed up in parts, but I was just trying to see which one gave me the best result...none did what I wanted it to do,
I have produced a Flash movieclip, containing a fair few layers, including masked layers, actionscript etc. One of the things it does is allows the user to click and drag a number of movieclips and drop them anywhere within the mc, but if they drop them on specific drop targets then some actionscript (AS2) kicks in, stops the drag object from being draggable again and advances through its frames to basically 'enlarge' the drag object and play a sound to show the user they've hit the right mark. This all works perfectly on its own, or in a browser window etc.
The problem I have is when I try to insert the Flash movie into an Adobe Captivate 4 e-learning package. Things work ok apart from when you drop the dragged object onto a drop target, nothing happens. The actionscript doesn't execute. Would the fact that the movieclip is (probably) sitting within a container (the Captivate e-learning package) be causing the problem? If so, how do I get around this issue?
