The container spikes the CPU for long, long, periods of time slowing overall performance noticably.The only way to address the problem is to kill the Firefox plugin container.When I kill the plugin container it kills Adobe Flash.I've tried clearing the flash cache from the Adobe troubleshooting site, deleting all cache applications, and changing settings.My family plays Farmville which is always hanging and can only be fixed by restarting the computer. Okay, maybe farmville is a bad app.

I have a flash within a holder div (flash container). I use swfobject to insert the flash object (if it makes any difference). I want to resize that holder div to make it smaller in width, when I achieve the "second level" in my "flash application". (with jQuery .animate() function). What "flash application" mean: I have a human body on wich I can click in different body areas. That is the first action - and the effect is to zoom onto that specific area of the body.
Then I can click again on a more specific zone into that area - and the effect consists in fetching some stuff via ajax. (it's some medical stuff, diseases etc.) - that's the "second level" in my "flash application". Then I can click on that stuff fetched via ajax - that's when I resize the flash holder. The problem is that, because of this resizing, my flash reloads and comes back to it's original state, without that zoom level. This reload appears in the "second level", and not when I click on the stuff fetched via ajax and the flash holder resizes. But that's the cause of the reload, because without this resizing, it's all ok. The problem is just in Firefox, I tested it in IE6,7,8, Opera 10, Safari latest and Chrome and there's nothing wrong there, the flash does not realod. On the homepage [URL] I had a previously installed .swf that works fine on IE, Firefox etc...I added a new .swf "testimonials" on the page on right hand side but it will only work in IE?

I have a strange dilemn and the 3D feature in Flash CS4 seem to be the most obvious connection to the problem. I have a page with 2 different swf files ( both under 50KB), which use the satay method. One works perfectly, and the other struggles to work. The pixels are magnified, the 3D animation scales incorrectly, and moves very slowly. Eventually the browser crashes and the whole operation goes down.

I made a swf file and embed it in my website.It displays properly in the mozilla firefox but not in my google chrome.Is this problem related to the browser or the way that I embeded my swf file.

(1) If the embed swf requests a local image file , will Flash allow the request?

2) If the embed swf requests an image file on a non local url other than one of the swf file, will Flash check a crossdomain.xml file on the url?

View 1 RepliesI just did two 100% Flash sites. I always size my sites 1024 by 768 or a bit smaller. I have never had a problem with it not fitting in the browser. I exported with Flash HTML at 100%, no scale.I tested these sites on Safari and IE on different monitor sizes. They looked great.
Both of my clients are using Firefox said it cuts the bottom off by about and inch or so. I did some research and this seems Firefox does this. I read this article below and wanted to know the following:[URL]
1 - Is this the best way to fix it? Or have I developed these sites too big for FF.
2 - Is there something else I could do (i.e. export the HTML a different way?).
3 - Should I size differently in the future?I would like to prevent me having to resize the stage and change all the objects.
So I haven't done much in flash in a while. However, I imported a new movie and then published the movie from flash and made an html page as well. For some reason I can not see the movie when I go to the page.

I then loop through each asset node and add it to a LoaderMax var. The problem I am having is that I want to declare the container for the asset I am loading in the XML file, but when I try the following code I get this error message:

I have a flash that I took out of a template to customize. (I'm using CS4). Same size, hell mostly the same file with small changes. None of the changes were to the file height or width.I have looked all over the code, checked all my spacing/padding/etc, and went line by line through the code and it's identical...I preview it in IE and it's fine. Everything matches. I preview it in FF, and there is about a 10-15px gap b/t the header and the body. I am at the end of my rope! The rest of the site is just about ready to go live, and I can't do that until I figure this out.

I've done lots of sites with the same kind of movies and they all work fine... But this ons just doesn't work. It views fine when I test it on my computer but as soon as I load it - nothing...
works perfect on my macbook pro (safari, firefox, and opera) but when I view the site on Vmare Fusion Windows XP and use IE and FireFox the pages don't load... I don't know what to make of this. Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.

When creating a project in Flash CS5 and then trying to view it in Safari & Firefox the plug-in crashes which then brings down the browser with it.I went and installed Flash CS3 (as this is what he is used to using) and the problem still persists.

View 2 RepliesI have produced a Flash movieclip, containing a fair few layers, including masked layers, actionscript etc. One of the things it does is allows the user to click and drag a number of movieclips and drop them anywhere within the mc, but if they drop them on specific drop targets then some actionscript (AS2) kicks in, stops the drag object from being draggable again and advances through its frames to basically 'enlarge' the drag object and play a sound to show the user they've hit the right mark. This all works perfectly on its own, or in a browser window etc.
The problem I have is when I try to insert the Flash movie into an Adobe Captivate 4 e-learning package. Things work ok apart from when you drop the dragged object onto a drop target, nothing happens. The actionscript doesn't execute. Would the fact that the movieclip is (probably) sitting within a container (the Captivate e-learning package) be causing the problem? If so, how do I get around this issue?

I am trying to load different image galleries into a container flash file. Each image gallery will be in a speparate swf that can be loaded/unloaded from the main swf. I get the first gallery to load and function fine, using the following code:

Trying to recode map program to utilise modest map rather than original hand made map routines. Finished up yesterday and had squashed bugs pretty much(annoying flicker issue but that didn't appear on another web browser I figure it's flash/browser related issue). Then I realised I need to try this in IE as well. And it doesn't work. Map loads up so modest map code is working. What is NOT working is everything else. It's supposed to track locations and draw arrows to their positions.
It doesn't go to where it's supposed to initially. No arrows are drawn. No control buttons from HTML side work. Nothing. Zip. I have suspicion it could be the ExternalInterface which works differently on firefox and IE. Could that be reason? If so how does one go detecting what browser I am using and how does one need to take that into account? Or is there something else that's different between IE and firefox I need to take into account?
IE itself only gives rather mystified error message.

Funny thing is both php file and output html file is 37 lines long...
The player is meant to retrieve the mp3 file from the server through the path address that is stored in MySQL. It does this in Explorer but not in Firefox. By the way the swf file of the player and the database is stored on the same server so there should be no problem with that.

Bug in Firefox if wmode is set to opaque or transparent.mouseUp is not triggered if mouseUp occurs offstage.I have slider code that should stopDrag on mouseUp, but if mouseUp occurs off stage, the slider stays connected to mouse on re-entry, even though the mouse is now up.Bug does not occur in other browsers, and does not occur if wmode is null.I have tried every variable and every fix I can think of, and can't resolve the issue.I have multiple versions now in AS2 and AS3 and I've followed every suggestion I've found online, including html/flash javascript. Nothing works yet.
