View 1 RepliesI am trying to design a custom group container. This is my code below. I have a Group openning tag and a GlowFilter inside the declarations. When I run the code, it gives me error Code: ArgumentError: Error #2005: Parameter 0 is of the incorrect type. Should be type Filter. I have no idea what went wrong. The code compiles fine, but not able to run. The workaround is change the Group to BorderContainer or remove the filters, but I just don't see why Group has a problem with it. I have attached my simplest project file.

View 1 RepliesIt's been a while since I've last posted, but I read a lot of others' posts, and try to keep up to date.My question is this:I have a group of images that are loaded up using xml into a movieclip. The movieclip is masked. I have 2 buttons, that scrolls the grouping either up or down. I would like to make these buttons inactive when the grouping of images is on it's last row, meaning when there is only one row of images shown on the screen/mask.
I have tried using hitArea, but I wasn't successful. This would be easy for me to achieve if I wasn't trying to make it a bit dynamic. Basically, someone would be updating the xml file with more nodes/images and the swf would update the list of images, thus making it difficult to hardcode when the list should stop scrolling.
my problem is when i create a button in state 1 and click on it according to code it should make a group in another state named as expand. However according to my code it is still making group in current state 1.

I am trying to make a group of spark type in flex at runtime.i am making a couple of buttons as children of this group in runtime. i want to add border to all group. however when i use border container it hides all other children and the stuff in group container and only shows the border container screen. View 4 RepliesI'm looking for the best way to get a flex 4 image object to resize and horizontally center whenever its parent container (a custom component based on group) resizes. I cannot set horizontalCenter="0" to accomplish the image centering because I use a move transition to "slide" the image in and out of view.
I'm externally setting the image source in the component. Here is a simplified example of my component code that only addresses resizing the image.

View 1 RepliesIn a Flex Mobile project I have a simple itemRenderer where I'm trying to create an "bubble" texting effect, similar to ichat or iphone (just so you get what im going for). But if the text is longer than the screen it runs off, rather than just going down a line.
If I set Group thats holding the rectangle(to create the bubble effect) and the label to 100% it works and keeps it from exceeding the list containers bounds, BUT the group is always at 100% and looks bad, I'm trying to keep the "bubble" JUST AROUND the text.
Anyway so, at the top of my itemRenderer I tried specifying:

And here's my layout I figured since msg_container has a width of 100% I was hoping bubble_lable_group would just not exceed that but...it doesnt...it just runs off. I tried setting a max width but that does not allow you to input percents. And just to say it 1 more time. I know if i set bubble_lable_group width to 100% it works, and keeps it from going off the edge, but then the rectangle "bubble" stretches all the way across and just looks bad.

I have a loop that goes through data from a book and displays it. The book is not consistent in it's layout so I am trying to display it in two different ways. First way(works fine) is to load the text from that section in to a panel and display it. The second way is to create a new panel (panel creates fine) and then add collapsable panels(nested) to that panel. Here is the code from the else loop.

I am creating an flex Air project,so mxml file will run. I have circles in one Big circle at one side and will be same on other side.
Now how to drag any circle from any Big circle to other side. Or it could be like any two container having circles, then how to drag and drop circle?

I'm loading png files on movieClips attached on the scene dynamically (reading an xml file). then i'm making a tween (with actionscript) to scale the container clip on RollOver.
the png file pixelate when the clip is scaled(to 110%).
What I am trying to do is basicly a button, where I can exchange the color of the button and the displayed icon (square, question mark, arrow etc.) via script separately.
Currently I have two containers. One is a MovieClip container for the icons, where I have a different icon in each frame and another MovieClip container for the button backgrounds, containing the same button with different colors in each frame. The icon container is the same for all frames of the button container.
Its instance has a name. In the script layer there is just a stop(); in every frame. Now the problem is that due to background and icon both being a button symbol (they need to be in order for them to have the 'down' and 'over' states), that the build-in click events are handled separately, meaning, that when the icon is clicked, only the icon's state is changed to 'down' and if the button is clicked, only the button's state is changed to 'down'.

I have a panorama picture and I can move this picture using my arrows I have made. I would like to put the buttons on the specific place of the picture. I want to make the buttons move with the picture while I scroll the panorama.

It would be too long to explain why, but I can't use scrollRect, so I was forced to declare a Canvas object (called innerCanvas)... inside my SuperCanvas (I know, not very nice =/) I would like to know if there's a proper way to "redirect" the creation of my component's children in this canvas.

Assuming a user selects one of the four buttons as a choice.
I want to use a button to clear all the radio buttons as unselected.
What is the AS that will set the selected state of all buttons in the group to "not selected"
I have a pretty large quiz/survey with 60 questions (4 questions per page and 15 pages) and I get a deselection bug come up at pages 5, 10, 15 for no apparent reason! I have checked the code vigourously for any errors and I can't see anyWhat happens is that a particular question within those pages stated above - when the alternate radio button is selected, it does not deselect the other radio button in the group.
There was no real clear solution to this other than build the questions dynamically from an XML file. I would really love to do this but my AS3 skills are not advanced enough to be able to program everything dynamically and I currently don't have time to learn these skills as the flash file is due like yesterday
im trying to disable a radio button group in flash, so users cant change the selected item.
im using the following code to create the radio button

I am working on a grid example in flex using advanced grid control. I know we can easily group data by specifying the field name. At the group node level, other than the gorup name I want to be able to show data in the rest of the cells ( calculated data ) and I am looking for some dataRowBound event or similar to be able to hook some data in it.
Example: Grid displaying list of towns grouped by state. At the group level ( for each state) I want to show the total number of towns in each state. Here how can i show the total number in the town column.
I've got index.swf which is the file with the container. main.swf is the file to be loaded onto index.swf.I can't get my main to load into the container automatically at a specific time. When I click on the button the animation plays perfectly though.Maybe because loadMovie is unable to load over index.swf?I haven't inserted code for any of the other buttons yet though. I want to be sure I can make this work before I start doing everything else. I think it shouldn't matter though cause its only meant to load at a specific time.

GM Chevy 2010 10
GM Chevy 2009 5
GM Pontiac 2010 12
Honda Civic 2009 12
and there will be a link next to datagrid to get Pie chart based on the data displays in the data grid . The pie graph should display grouping by company and the count . I mean for the above example that should give with two pie items , one for GM showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 3 ) and Honda showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 1 ).
I thought of getting it from the database by querying and grouping it .But here the problem is after getting the data above in the datagrid user can able to filter at client end ( By year or model ) and can say get graph . This time that should only display the graph for the data visible in Datagrid .Grouping on database for every operation is becoming expensive. Since we have already data available at client end , is there any way to group it at client ..?

I would expect the mask to be applied when the checkbox is selected, and removed when it issin't. But it doesn't seem to work.However, when you change to , it works like a charm. Can anyone explain to me why?
Note: In my actual application, i'm applying this in a skin to a component that is extending SkinnableComponent which can't use BorderContainer so a solution to this would be great.

I found the code to create a setof radio buttons - the problem is that each time I call asubroutine, it seems to create a new set on top of them (hence theyget darker each time someone clicks them. I need to be able toclear them from the stage and start over - basically the codecreates a set of radio buttons, and then a set of radio buttons foreach of the main buttons created. I have flip_mc which contains listSide_mc and videoInfoSide_mc both of the above mc's contain a button name spin_btn.My flip_mc should rotate around the y axis and swapping whichever of the 2 (listSide_mc and videoInfoSide_mc) should be visible.All the rotating and adding a child stuff works fine.BUT the whole flip_mc seems to be a button, the spinIt function runs when I click anywhere on the mc, it should only happen when I click the spin_btn buttons.[code]
