Feb 24, 2010I have a Flash file embedded into HTML - the objects inside are place based on the browser's screen size.Most of the time I don't want a scroll bar, as things are correctly placed, but once the browser window gets too small it'd be nice to have it.So, the main question: can I have a Javascript code listening for the browser window, then adding a scroll bar if it's smaller than a certain number?

When I do publish preview, I notice that no scrollbar appears in the browser; therefore, only part of my content is shown. Mar 10, 2011first I tried to install the NewGrounds Ad component for AS 3.0 which delivers as an .xmp file. I doubleclicked it and in the Extension Manager it's listed as active under Flash CS5. I restarted flash, but the component does not show up in the components list.I then tried to install the minimal components fromwhich are delivered as an SWC. I went to the ActionScript 3.0 settings in flash, went to the "library path" tab and clicked browse to swc to select the SWC file. but these components don't show up in the components list either.

May 9, 2011How can I display the vertical scrollbar in an .fla that is taller than the browser window?'ve created a file that loads thumbs from an .XML file and displays them in rows. You guys taught me how to do that and it works greatThe stage will be larger than a typical browser window and extends below the botom of the users' screen. When I test the file (in the environment) and when I publish it to HTML, no vertical scroll buttons are visible. The thumbs seem to be displayed properly except for the fact that the rows of thumbs go beyond the bottom of the screen and there is no way to scroll down to see all of them.When I publish just the .fla and manually embed it into an HTML page in Dreamweaver, the vertical scrollbar appears and works as expected.

Oct 25, 2010I'm trying to control the behavior of components in my Flash Library using a .as file class, but it doesn't seem to be working.
For example, if I have a Button in my library called exampleBtn and attempt to do this in the .as file:
exampleBtn.visible = false;
... nothing happens. The button is still visible in my application when I run it.
Can anyone explain the workflow to make a Flash library component accessible in a .as class file using Flash CS5?

Dec 30, 2009I have created an animation (.swf) with a third party software application. I tried to import it as a symbol into Flash but it is constructed in such a way that it won't work. It requires to be housed within an html environment in order to combine the animation with a separate navigation layer that exists in two separate .swf files.I can mount this animation on a web page independently as it's own page but I really want it to appear within another flash animation.Is there some way for me to create a window in a flash movie that contains a view to an external HTML page so I can embedd this animation? Perhaps similar to an iFrame?

I'm trying to avoid doing the whole thing in Flash, so the home page is a CSS/HTML header page that will house a looping flash piece underneath the header, and the inner portfolio will be flash pieces brought into the same CSS header framework.I'd like to know what kind of code I need to use in the portolio flash navigation so that the "home" link will open the CSS/HTML home page in its same window, rather than launching another window. Is this something that can be done using AS3, or do I need javascrpt as well?

Jul 19, 2010I'm having a problem with it that I can't seem to find the solution to. First of all I have been following some tutorials using CS5 and when viewing the created animation in test movie or by double clicking the SWF file they would open full screen. However I have followed a different tutorial and created another file using CS3, and this will not go to full screen.
(White bars appear either side of the animation). This has also happened with another animation, on which I have created a butterfly that moves across the stage, when viewing the animation, you can see where the butterfly goes off the stage. (You can literally see it, even though you shouldn't be able to). Making the files the same resolution makes no difference, as I have tried this, and I'm not really sure what to do next. I have even tried opening this newer file within cs5, but this still does not work.

In the Publish Settings I see there are options to align the HTML to Default, Left, Right, Top and Bottom, but no Center. Is there a setting somewhere else? A bit of background: I was able to achieve this using <center></center> tags a few years ago. But I have since upgraded to CS5 and I understand that this old method is now obsolete.
I have found a few threads/forums that address this, but I know nothing about HTML and these threads don't help me because they assume you have more knowledge than I possess. When opening up the index.html file in Dreamweaver I can't find anything that looks vaguely familiar to what is being discussed. I have found some code samples using <div></div> tags but have no idea where to place it.
So I will need it explained to me in a step by step fashion, including which file I need to fix and what program I should use. Code samples will be very welcome if you can tell me exactly where it goes.

Feb 2, 2010why are those "values" input and component windows so badly designed, not resizable (well kind of albeit terribly badly) etc... This is an eyesore and a practical pain in the a**. Seriously Adobe... all these talks about "accessibility" etc... shouldn't it start in your own software ?!? You can fix this it's 2010.
