Professional :: Creating A Button Headline With Transparent Font?
Feb 19, 2012
I'm making a graphic button for a news app that allows the user to click on a headline. The button is composed of font and a rectangular shape in the back of the text. I want the text to be 100% transparent, and create the effect that you can see in the titles of this movie poster:
[URL]
does anyone know how to do this? doing it the way you would think...which is just to make the text 100% transparant doesnt work because the the background shape of the button (about 65% transparent) is in the way.
I have rendered out a FLV with alpha enabled and using wmode options correctly, i am able to get my flash content embed on top of my pages, over the content.
1) I need the embedded flash content to have a close button, otherwise what i am seeing is a flash movie playing on without an option to close. Tried a button with on (release){getURL("java script:window.opener=self;self.close();");}
Is it that I have to place the FLV (alpha enabled) within a movieclip? and add a button there?
2) Also I need to start this content in the webpage using a mouse over over a button.
I am making flash with mouse over its not working properly, 1) When mouse over the button not come the transperant area to entire pic 2) How can transparent area slowely to come mouse out
I imported a video into flash and have a transparent photoshop layer to create an iPod skin. The video works fine, but I cannot get the "stage" to be transparent so that you do not see the flash background color behind the iPod skin.
I've read in the forums and have followed the instructions here from Adobe. If you look at my code, I have
I'm trying to create a rollover flash map of England. In the past I have simply got a map image, traced over each section and saved as a button with a rollover effect, job done.
However this time I have the various counties within England as individual png's with transaprent backgrounds. I have converted each of them into rollover buttons and every single button has its own layer on the timeline, but the problem arises as the mouse detects the square box around each png image, ignoring the transparency.
I want the 'hit area' for each button to just be non-transparent part of the png.
I have seen 'InteractivePNG': [URL] but am not great at actionscript and can't get it to work.
I have a strange issue where a dynamic text field will not show a bold version of a font (Gerstner BQ) if the regular version is on the stage in a static text field.Remove the static text field and the dynamic text field displays the bold font correctlyI have created a test FLA to reproduce this and by turning the layer with the static text field on and off (Publish settings -> Flash -> include hidden layers [unchecked]), the issue is quite clearhis issue is so big for me that I have had to abandon a project in CS5 and start again in CS4 just to work around this.
I need to present chemical formulas with subscripts and superscripts in a dynamic text box. To do this, I've downloaded and embedded the GG Subscript and GG Superscript fonts, created a dynamic text box with Arial as the font, and added ActionScript code to change the font when I need subscripts and superscripts. the following is a simplified version of my code.
[Code].....
I get a compiler error 1119 Access of possibly undefined property html through a reference with static flash.text:TextField. The text box is a dynamic text box, not static, so I'm puzzled.I don't get this error with the GG Subscript code above.
I am fairly new with using FlashCS5. I just finished the class and created a button with text in it for class but now when I need to do it for a project I can't seem to get it to work.I am trying to create a simple start and stop button to start and stop a Flash movie.I can get the buttons to work without any text, such as the word start and stop in the middle of each.Everything I've tried to do with the text on the button turns out the same. What happens is that in Flash the buttons appear to work fine The little hand with the finger shows no matter where I place my cursor on the button but when I test them the area where the text is does not allow the click to work. I have tried specifying a hit area and made sure that the hit area was larger than the entire button but still the middle where the text is doesn't work.
I am trying to create a tween in which an imported jpg will fade away to completely transparent. After importing the jpg image and converting to a movie clip symbol, I am able to create a motion tween where it grows and moves, but using the alpha setting, I cannot get it to become transparent. Is this not possible with an imported image?
I created a button in Illustrator and imported to my Flash library. The button has drop shadows, overlay and gradients. It imports and previews just fine until I change it to a button. When I go to preview it, there are these thick red boxes that seems to incase every layer of the button?
I'm basically looking to create some buttons that once 'rollover'd' grow slightly, and shrink again once 'rollout'd' and I am hoping to add a little bounce (or I believe its called elastic) once it snaps back. I am a beginner, but have created buttons before with rollover, rollout etc but arent sure how to create the motion of it growing in the button. (I am using Flash CS4 and was intending AS3, but happy to use whatever is recommended for this.) I did use this site tutorial [URL], but I wasn't sure which AS or CS it was using. Everything worked but the motion of the growing.
I want to put a transparent area on my stage. When the mouse enters that area I want to be notified (so that I can do stuff).I expect to use some code like"addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, mouseInRemote);" - but the qustion is "What do I add to my stage?"
I have a .jpg graphic in a movieclip on layer two (1024/768). This is used as a background.I have a .jpg scrolling movieclip on layer one. It is a very wide graphic used for displaying a panorama.I would like to be able to create, dynamically using actionscript, a transparent area on the layer two movieclip (create a window) to view the underlying movieclip.I believe this is possible using the Rectangle class in the flash.geom.rectangle but I can't figure out how to attach it to the layer two movieclip or how to make it transparent so shows the underlying scrolling graphic.
I am trying to create a flash headline gallery animation for a web site and I am having a bit of trouble. I am trying to get something similar to what you see on many websites today. Example 49er website ( [URL].. Typically the animation starts with one headline for a story "Click here to learn more" . After 7 seconds or so it goes to the next.I want mine to utilize the horizontal sliding effect between stories. underneath the stories are several buttons for navigating to a specific headline.
Many example sites i've seen use javascript or something else, but i was attempting to use Flash. I borrowed some code from a tutorial and I have some of it done. I have the button nav working, and the headlines slide horizontally when clicked. What i can't seem to add to this is the auto-play, wait 7 seconds then go to the next.
I would like to display an RSS Feed headline in my flash site. There doesn't need to be any body text, but it has to display the headline quite quickly for a rollover.
In AS2 I need code for a button, on the main timeline, to go to a frame in a mc off the main time line. I have attached a picture of the time lines in case I have not articulated my needs well.
I've got a project that loads video clips and text via XML. I'm trying to add buttons but I am not sure how to code them. The problem is, I'm creating 4 transparent buttons over four dynamic text fields. In the XML doc I have 11 different sections or groups of content. Those text fields with the transparent buttons change when each video finishes and a new section is loaded.
What I want to do is get the changing value of any of those 4 buttons that I click while one of the sections is playing and load that new section. At first I thought I'd just check to see what the current section is that's playing and then if I click on the button that represents the next section I would increase the value+1. If I click on the button that's supposed to represent the third section from the current one then I would code the button, current section+3 and so on.
That would work fine but If I'm on section 9 in the XML and there's only 11 sections, I can't add "current section+3" because that would go to section 12 and there isn't a section 12. I would want it to go and load section 0.
I'm trying to get this headline to load into a dynamic textfield. Do I need a loader to load text the smae way i do for an image?Below is my code. I will try to comment it out.
ActionScript Code: var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var xmlData:XML = new XML();[code]......
I have a client who wants a live CNN headline ticker on their website. This would be easy if it were an HTML based website, but this one is a Flash based website. In looking around I've learned that you can use javascript or PHP to do this ... create a really simple live news headline ticker? Basically I have never done anything like this and have no idea how to go about it ... woould I use a component? What might the AS3 code look like to do something like this?
I really need to make a transparent button, so it needs to just look like floating text but with button capabilities. But I was confused about a couple things: Initially I was using the "FPushButtonSymbol" but was unable to make it transparent, although I tried like this:
[Code]....
This left some shadow though So, I utlized a post from ezboard.com, which said to just make a square and then do Insert->Convert to Symbol and make it a button symbol. When I converted into a symbol, I also exported it for use with ActionScript. So I have been making instances of my new button (TermButt).... But can I still use generic button functionality like labeling, text fonts/colors, button size:
I'm wanting to create a moving object that will be exported into a tv commercial. Object has already been created in Adobe Illustrator, and now will be dropped into flash for adding movement. The destination commercial will be created in Sony Vegas, with the settings of (Australian) PAL television (25 fps, 576x720 pixels, lower field first). Thus keeping it simple, I want to set Adobe flash with the same output format, meaning that the canvas will have to be 576x720 pixels at 25 fps. So far this seems to have worked okay. Now I'm wanting to get rid of the canvas colour, just like I have here in this photoshop screen shot.
Judging by the colour palette in Flash Professional, it looks like it can't be done. I've checked "transparent palette" through yahoo and google, and had no results. The adobe documentation only details how to remove a background in Photoshop.
For this project I'm working on currently I've had to create a Font Symbol and select 'Bold' in order for the 'Bolded Font' to display in my dynamic text box.I'm just wondering, is there a way to only select uppercase A - Z to be embeded with the Font Symbol, rather than the whole font?Note I had to create the font symbol as this is the only way to attach the 'bolded' version - Else I would be using the 'Embed Font' button and selecting which characters I wanted.
I would like to find out, how can i make that only a selection is made a button, for example I have a picture (.PNG format) with a transparent background, and the image in the PNG is what i want to be a button, but when i convert the PNG to a button then even the transparent part becomes a button. how can I have only the pic as a button.
I'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.
The navigation buttons in my .fla file are set to the font, Arial MT in Bold. It displays no problem on my desktop computer. However, when I view the website on my laptops, the font changes to what looks to be something like Times New Roman. The same thing happens with my "Read More" button text. It's also originally in Arial MT Bold. On my desktop it appears fine but on my 2 laptops it appears to be in Times New Roman. This is more of an issue because I have these buttons underlined. When viewing in my laptops, these underlines appear to be too long. If I shorten it, it'll probably appear to be too short when I view on my desktop. How can I get the font to be one consistent font for all computers?
I am trying to export these gifs with transparency and I am still getting the background with transparency selected in publish settings. Does anyone know a way to remove the background and just have a transparent gif?
I'm trying to achieve something quite specific. I have a few transparent PNGs that will be dynamically generated and will be arbitrary shapes. I want these to form a sort of "hotspot" on mouseover, but I obviously don't want the mouseover to comprise the transparent bit - simplest analogy I can think of a is a single jigsaw puzzle piece. Is there any way to do this in AS3? Would I just load the PNG and flash automatically discards the transparent pixels?
If not the PNG, I can get the "jigsaw piece" in raw RGB pixel values as an XML doc. Could I maybe use the bitmap class to "populate" a bitmap using these raw values which I can then use as a movieclip with button enabled?
edit: from reading around elsewhere, a "map" analogy seems far more apt.
