I have a flash file .swf that uses an external .txt file. I have both documents and when I play the .swf in the player it works fine but when I import the Flash into Dreamweaver the .txt file doesn't appear in the flash.I have to get this site to launch by Friday and I have about 20 of these files to sort out.

1) import option ( File > Import ) but it is importing only Images and symbols. I want my original file as it in new file.

I have a webpage that currently display a powerpoint slides.The problem is that other can download the slides which I really dont want.
following issues:I dont want to convert the ppt slides to .swf then convert them to flash but rather let flash open the .ppt directly and display on the webpage.

View 2 RepliesHere's my problem. I currently have a Flash banner on my website that displays artwork I have made. However, it currently just shows jpegs that are embedded into the Flash file. Is there a way that I can set up a directory in my domain and just have the flash file pull these external images, at random to display? Also, it should be noted that it shouldn't pull the same image twice. That would look silly I would make the files all the correct resolution and size, so resizing is not an issue. I know you can do this sort of thing with javascript, but I want more control and a more stylish appearance.

The slideshow will have a thumbnail bar with arrows on either side to switch to the next or previous batch of thumbnails.This slideshow needs to be linked to an external file that will contain pictures submitted by visitors to the site. The pictures will automatically generate thumbnails that will call a large version of the image when clicked on.My current knowledge about flash and AS3 coding does not enable me to do this. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not possible at all. It sounds like something that needs to be handled by a content management system.
View 2 RepliesI have purchased an image gallery program that works fine but I am struggling to make a very minor modification. I have asked the author for assistance but previous requests have met with no response so I am also asking my question here. This program has most of its logic in an external AS2 file. I have made some small changes to this file and want to save it under a new name. However, that would also require me to change the reference to the external AS2 file from within the fla file. That's where my problem lies. I can't find any code in the fla that contains such a reference.
If I try to publish an swf without this file in the required location it causes a compiler error thus proving that there must be a reference somewhere to that file. However, doing a search for this AS2 file in the 'current document' when viewing the fla file in Flash CS4 produces no results. Where else could this reference be hidden?
I have created a Flash Demo in AS3. I simply need to use the swf file to demonstrate a workflow. The file plays perfectly on my computer however when I sent it to my team, the content was replaced with 5 moving grey dots.The publish settings are at Flash Player 10. My team all have flash player 10 but no cigar.

View 1 RepliesThis is part of my ongoing issue with 6 video files in six Scenes.I have 6 videos there were imported as enbedded, one in each scene. the first four play but the second two do not.whichever order i place the scenes, it is always the last two that pause at the first frame.o try another approach, I linked instead to a video externally. This seems to work, but, when I click a button to go to another scene the audio from the previous scene is still playing when the new video starts.

I turn to you for help, dear sweet Kirupa Forumites. First, let me explain the problem: I have a flash file reading an external text file for the content. Everything works perfectly for nearly everyone - you click a menu button, and the content text comes up fine. However, a couple of people have found that the text shows up as "undefined". I have checked the player versions of the people where it doesn't work, and it is the same as for those where it does work, so that ain't the problem.
I don't understand why it works perfectly for nearly everyone, but a small number of people have this "undefined" text problem. It seems to be a problem with loading the external text file, but I don't know why. I have a main flash movie, and load the text in the first frame, using the following:

I then have a couple of dynamic text boxes in the main movie - one called ErrorText (for displaying an error message to the user) and one called ContentText (for displaying the content). I use an external menu swf which jumps to a specific frame in the main movie, depending on which button is clicked. Actionscript on the main movie frame for the first button does the following, with the other frames similarly configured:

My external text file is properly configured (content1=blah blah&content2=other blah blah) etc.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can solve this particular weird problem??
