Professional :: Header Banner - Mask Text On Scrolling Background Of Images
Nov 20, 2010
I built a quick and dirty site header banner, with text masking a scrolling background of several images. The text is the mask, so the images show up inside the text. Viewing it works in Flash CS3, but when I publish it, I see the images scrolling from right to left, but they are not masked.
I'm not looking for text box scrolling!! I want the whole 'stage' / 'page' whatever its called to scroll down. I have lots off different content like text, images, animations etc on there so is this possible? I would prefer just two buttons on the side that will scroll the page up and down with as much content as I want on there.
I have converted a large background image (much larger than the stage) into a Movie Clip. I did this so I can make it scroll as the player traverses to the edge of the scene. This appears to make the player free to roam the entire background image.I have a tree symbol with a class attached to it that blocks player movement. Here is my problem:
When I drag and drop instances of the tree symbol onto the background, the trees are stationary and do not scroll with the background.I do not want to have to implement code to make the trees scroll when the background does.I was wondering if there was a way to simply attach the trees to the background so that if the background moves, the trees move with it and appear to be part of the background as if they were drawn into it.It is convenient for me to be able to drag and drop as many trees as i need to block certain routes on the background from the player.I tried writing code to make the trees move but it was only working for the very last tree that I added to the scene.
I'm pretty new to Flash, and having a few problems with a website I've had to design for my college ICT course.I built the site entirely in Flash, which went perfectly, then went on to build a scrolling image gallery banner for use on a gallery page of the site (assuming that it would be an easy task to chop the banner into the website). When I've tried importing the file to the stage/library it leaves all the images behind (as they are in the library of the first file) as well as the actionscript required to call the images; leaving me with just a new, blank layer.I've also tried copying the actionscript code into the website document and transferring the images from the gallery library to the website library, however, the gallery is written so that the stage is used in its entirety to show only a certain amount of images, meaning that the proportions of the banner are all wrong on the website file.Is there any way to integrate the flash file for the gallery into a confined area of the stage in the website document, or am I going to have to alter my designs so that the gallery goes entirely across the page (put up and shut up style).
Attatched are download links to the two files in question, sorry if they're a little on the large side.
I need to create a Flash banner. Fairly straight-forward in terms of looks - a long list of services that scrolls from right to left and then loops continuously.
I'm using Flash MX 2004. So far I've created the text - it comes on from the right and leaves on the left. The problem I've got however is how to make this a continuous, seamless loop. When it goes off on the left I can't figure out how to make it come back on from the right.
I have this banner that needs to have a several rows worth of paragraph text animate horizontally through it. Ideally, the text should also be possible to update from outside of flash. As for the scrolling text, working with that much text as one long row of letters doesn't seem feasible, so I'm wondering is there a standard way in Flash CS5 of working with large amounts of animated text? Not the user editable kind like text fields and such, but presentational text.
Obviously it's not efficient to have one long string of text that extends several screens beyond the display, as is the case now. Editing just one letter can take several seconds of scrolling as the string is currently over 3000 px wide, and it's not even all the text that's going to be in the final animation. It'd be great if it was possible to type that text through some web based cms, and have it automatically transferred to the Flash banner,
It's a flash banner with a simple image, and then I want an xml of quotes that get pulled into the banner a mask scrolls in and then when it scrolls out, the words have changed to another random quote? When I mean scroll I mean the quote remains in place but a mask appears (from right to left) that covers the words, once the 'mask has got to the left side of the quote all the letters are gone - the mask the reverses (right to left) to reveal a new quote."Random Quotes from XML mask swap in Flash" isn't getting the right results!
I am trying to create a banner with one background and four lines of text.I need to make a 4 line animation where one line of text is displayed, then it fades out, then the other line of text fades in, and out again, then the 3 rd one and finally the last one and then it loops. The first 2 lines are working fine but not the rest.I am new to flash and trying to learn it thru tutorials.. I am stuck here.. Do we want to write any script for this or any other way to do it..? I couldnot find any tutorial for this.
I am trying to make a scrolling banner like the html <marquee> tag that loads text from a .txt file. Here is what I have so far:
Frame1
Code: var formatObj = new TextFormat(); formatObj.size = 15; formatObj.color = 0; formatObj.font = "Comic Sans MS";
[code].....
For some reason it only works by using the stop(); command. The problem is that this causes the animation not to automatically start when placed into an html page. The result I want is for the text to automatically begin to scroll.
Basically, I've built an application which is working fine. I have a 'settings' button that overlays a settings window, semi transparent, over the main application, that has some buttons on it.The problem I'm having is that the buttons on the main window are still selectable, which I don't want. How can I get it to stop tracking the buttons underneath my overlay window?
I've got a 800x600 document that has a panoramic picture scrolling horizontally and buttons in the image.
i've got this piece of code for AS2.0
[Code]...
Otherwise it is working all good, but I'd like it to stay put at the start. Right now it immidiately starts scrolling to right unless I move the mouse on top to stop it. So ye, i need to have it sitting still and only scroll when the mouse is at the edges of the document.
I have a fla file template and the example sequence swf but the template only show a few of the images in the finshed preview even though all the images are present 12 bitmaps and 12 symbols.see why the images are not moving in the Banner .
I have a text field containg an amount of dynamic text. I scroll it auotmatically with AS but it appears that whenever I make the text scroll Flash automatically throws in a background (on the text) and I can't seem to turn it off. I have an image behind the text so I need the background transparent.
I have a question on creating scrolling text. I want the background transparent. Here's what I have: [URL]. The content is there, it just isn't visible. I copied the code and dragged the actual scrollbar/arrows from the tutorial.
The code is as follows: fscommand("allowscale", "false"); bar.useHandCursor = dragger.useHandCursor=false; space = 20; friction = 0.9; speed = 4; [Code] .....
I have to produce a Flash banner advert for my company. The specs are Flash 8, up to 30kb.My company wants highest possible resolutions and smooth animations, but no matter what i do, either I have to lower the resolutions of my images or have to make the advert more static, none of which my company is happy about!I save images to the right size so i don't scale them in FlashI open each of the bitmaps and change their quality individuallyI clicked the compress movie buttonI optimised all the shapes that are in the filmI made sure all the objects used more than once or animated are movieclipsI used SWF optimiser but it didn't make any difference.
I have a client who wants a home page similar to the way this one operates: http:[url]... It contains 10 images that are on a steady horizontal scroll that repeats. The images seem to be at about 50% opacity and they increase to 100% upon rollover. The images don't need to link to different pages. The way this one works would be fine, just all leading to another gallery page that gives more info.how I can achieve this type of look thru Flash? I have done some browsing online but most tutorials I've found are more like viewers where the user has arrows to scroll forward and back. This one is different, just sort of operates on its own....like walking by and window shopping for my client's products.
My boss wanted me to make scrolling images and captions for each image when you rollover them. I made the images scroll by making each image a button and masking those images. I can't seem to get the captions right though. The dynamic text box I am using is inside the mask (because I cannot figure out how to put it on the main time line and make it work). The rollovers work when the dynamic text box is in the mask, but when I scroll through the images, the text scrolls too and some of the captions you cannot even see. The web site is below if you need to see what I am talking about.http:[url].......
I figured that what I need to do is put the dynamic text box on the main time line and not in the mask. But I can't seem to get that to work. Here is the code I am putting on the actual image buttons. My text box instance name is rOver and yes, I did embed the fonts.
on (rollOver) { rOver.text ="caption"; }[code]..............
I'm using Flash 8 Pro (if I don't finish today, I'll switch to CS4 Pro/AS2), and I have a dynamic text box and used actionscript to make it scroll. I need to insert images into that text box, but I can't figure out how. I don't know how to get HTML to work in conjunction with it either. I'm afraid that if I change too much, the AS will stop working. This is the code I'm using to make it scroll:
Code: //scrolling //variables var scrollup = false;
[code]....
It might be a bit messy, I've only been using Flash for two months, and got back from a one month break just last week, but at least it works. how I can make this work without destroying the scrolling, or will I have to improvise something else? I'm on a bit of a time crunch and just want to get this site finished.
I'm attempting to create a thing where my thumbnails will scroll across the bottom of the page, like when you put the mouse on the right it scrolls right and visa versa. I found a great tuturial only to realize halfway in that it was done with Flash 8, therefore apparently quite a few things have changed. And this is my first stab at FlashThe first place i noticed is when my motion tween didn't work, so I instead created a 'Classic Tween' finding it had the same affect as 'Motion Tween' in Flash 8, however as I progressed in the tut, I don't think the results were the same.
My images scroll but after creating a _xmouse<40){........prevFrame, there only continue to scroll, the prevFrame command doesn't work!So to my question...does anyone know of a good tut for this type of thing for CS5? OR, is anyone really familiar with both Flash 8 and CS5 and e differences for what I'm attempting to create?
My problem is, I have setuped a simple iPhone app in Flash.I compile it, but some of elements are missing.Like i have *.png images for title and background, and problem is background is not appearing.Layers are set correctly, in editor they are positioned right.
How I can create continuous scrolling (on mouse over ) for limited images (like 10 ) If I mouse over , in left it keeps scrolling images and even keep scrolling when 10 images completed by adding first image to the right
If I mouse over , in right it keeps scrolling images and even keep scrolling when 10 images completed by adding first image to the left[URL]..
This is probably an easy task for most of you, but how do i get a transparent image to fade to a background image in Flash? I have several transparent product images (.png or .gif) and a patterend background. I import my .png or .gif image and convert it to a symbol. I drag the symbol on my layer but as soon as i add a keyframe, the product image background turns white and loses it's transparency!
I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to change the text on this banner. The person setting up my website isn't available anymore. I have this slide show with a transparent banner at the top and photos that I can manipulate. I can also change the order by modifiying the file Images.xml:
Code: for (i=0; i<200; i++) { circle.duplicateMovieClip("circle"+i, this.getNextHighestDepth()); randX = Math.floor(random(Stage.width)); randY = Math.floor(random(Stage.height)); this.banner.setMask(this["circle"+i]); this["circle"+i]._x = randX; this["circle"+i]._y = randY; } Circle is a movieclip that has a circle starting at 2px by 2px and expands to 100 by 100. Banner is just a movieclip, but I would like these expanding circles to act as a mask to reveal the banner. This should work, but isn't, I know I am overlooking something.
