I need to create a Flash banner. Fairly straight-forward in terms of looks - a long list of services that scrolls from right to left and then loops continuously.
I'm using Flash MX 2004. So far I've created the text - it comes on from the right and leaves on the left. The problem I've got however is how to make this a continuous, seamless loop. When it goes off on the left I can't figure out how to make it come back on from the right.
I have a design. Now I want to add text to a certain area of two ovals on an arc. How do you do text that will arc to match two ovals.
View 1 RepliesI have this banner that needs to have a several rows worth of paragraph text animate horizontally through it. Ideally, the text should also be possible to update from outside of flash. As for the scrolling text, working with that much text as one long row of letters doesn't seem feasible, so I'm wondering is there a standard way in Flash CS5 of working with large amounts of animated text? Not the user editable kind like text fields and such, but presentational text.
Obviously it's not efficient to have one long string of text that extends several screens beyond the display, as is the case now. Editing just one letter can take several seconds of scrolling as the string is currently over 3000 px wide, and it's not even all the text that's going to be in the final animation. It'd be great if it was possible to type that text through some web based cms, and have it automatically transferred to the Flash banner,
I built a quick and dirty site header banner, with text masking a scrolling background of several images. The text is the mask, so the images show up inside the text. Viewing it works in Flash CS3, but when I publish it, I see the images scrolling from right to left, but they are not masked.

For some reason it only works by using the stop(); command. The problem is that this causes the animation not to automatically start when placed into an html page. The result I want is for the text to automatically begin to scroll.
I am trying to create a banner with one background and four lines of text.I need to make a 4 line animation where one line of text is displayed, then it fades out, then the other line of text fades in, and out again,then the 3 rd one and finally the last one and then it loops. The first 2 lines are working fine but not the rest.I am new to flash and trying to learn it thru tutorials.. I am stuck here.. Do we want to write any script for this or any other way to do it..? I couldnot find any tutorial for this.
View 6 RepliesNoob question, I hope. I need to create scrolling text areas with rich text format content. I know I can use the textArea component and set the htmlText property but converting all of my RTF to HTML is gonna be a major pain in the @$$. I keep getting into trouble thinking what's mindlessly easy in Director/Lingo is gonna be reasonably simple in Flash/AS3, I hoping this is just my inexperience with Flash getting in the way. Is there an easier way? I thought of embedding a PDF document but apparently that's not an option in Flash either (note: I know how to link a PDF doc, I need this text to display and scroll within the application, not just pop a new window on top).

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create a scrolling text in Flash MX that will go horizontally from side to side of the stage, each scrolling text will be a number of words each separated of each other by a bullet or small circle. The scrolling text will be a Movie Clip with one single Dynamic text field that will load it's variables from a .txt document, that dynamic field will duplicate it self as many times as the amount of variables on the .txt document.
So I was thinking that if I created variables using a numbers like 1 = word, 2 = another word ect. To whatever numbers of words I want to be displayed on the scrolling text I could use a script on the first frame that could say something like this. (Dynamic text field has a variable called ticker)
loadVaraibles(TickerText.txt, this)
ticker = 1 + "."
Now comes the questions
Can flash read more than one variable in a single .txt file? Or it read on and assume that everything else within the file is just part of the first variable?
If this is possible how can I tell flash duplicate this dynamic text field as many times as the amount of variables on this particular .txt file?
I know this all sound really confusing but I hope that some one can understand me and give me some tips to get this to work or maybe make a simple sample of it and upload it on my server so I can see how can this be done.

I am a complete newbie to Flash. I'm tyring to build a scrolling text box that automatically scrolls. On mouse over, I want the scrolling to stop so users can click on an item in the text box. All of the items will be tied to external hyperlinks. I want to populate the text box with an external file. I've done some searches on Adobe, but haven't found anything that takes me through the whole process.I have the complete Adobe Master Collection. So if this is easier in Flash Catalyst, let me know. I know how to buid a manual scroll box in Flash Catalyst. Could I export this to and add the auto-scrolling?

View 3 RepliesI'm pretty new to Flash, and having a few problems with a website I've had to design for my college ICT course.I built the site entirely in Flash, which went perfectly, then went on to build a scrolling image gallery banner for use on a gallery page of the site (assuming that it would be an easy task to chop the banner into the website).When I've tried importing the file to the stage/library it leaves all the images behind (as they are in the library of the first file) as well as the actionscript required to call the images; leaving me with just a new, blank layer.I've also tried copying the actionscript code into the website document and transferring the images from the gallery library to the website library, however, the gallery is written so that the stage is used in its entirety to show only a certain amount of images, meaning that the proportions of the banner are all wrong on the website file.Is there any way to integrate the flash file for the gallery into a confined area of the stage in the website document, or am I going to have to alter my designs so that the gallery goes entirely across the page (put up and shut up style).

working on an internal web project and the project sponsor really wants the home page to have an "iphone" style draggable scrolling content.the only place i have seen an example of it is here:URL...but i have no idea how i'd go about making it!Have dabbled in flash over the years, and have a good understanding of AS2, and basic AS3 - with some serious research and practice i could probably make this, but there are major time constraints on the project so it would be great if someone has a similar script to share please!There is budget to pay so it doesn't have to be a free script!

Direction is controlled by mouse position (extreme left or right), and it will stop when the mouse is positioned over an image in the center area.Here's the code:

well ive been tryin to create a small site with a banner using flash. i went to publish settings and changed the setting to transparent, published it and embedded the code into my html page on the page there is a white part at either side of the banner that shouldnt be there and doesnt look right, ive attached a picture

I have been trying to create a gif web banner using flash. Everything look great in flash, flash player and quicktime but when I export or publish as a gif my background image is grainy and pixelated. My document is saved as 500X90. My background image was saved out of photoshop as 72 dpi. 500X90. I tried saving the image as .tif, .png, .jpg, all with the same result.
I'm not sure if this is the problem or not as I'm a freshman user but I have the background image running on its own timeline that runs the length of the movie. Also the animated text/symbols created in flash look perfect when I save it as a gif the only thing effected is the background image. I'm stuck, I have looked all over the web for the answer. On a side note I'm using a Mac running os x 10.4.11

Does the original banner size target another swf? I am just confused how the, say 300x250 banner, only shows that size on a site, without showing the expandable part...

View 2 RepliesI need to create an expandable flash banner. I have tried using the DartMotif Tutorial and installed the plugin etc. However when i get so far it doesn't work. I've done the tutorial about 3 times now and still get stuck on the same part.

I come across this free tools of making GIF banner at this site :[URL] As far as I could guess, the creator made it in Flash, I m trying to make an equivalent Flex application, and here some problems I encountered : -When press Generate Text button, I guess this application should make a new movieclip ( in Flash ) addEventListener to it,so it could be drag&drop, inside the movie clip was a Child of TextLabel with the fontFamily,fontSize,color depends on the combo boxes ==> So in my Flex application I tried to use the RichTextEditor Components, it worked great ( provide text/font/size/color selection ) but when I make a new button, say "Create Text" , I make a new label, but problem is that in programmatic API, Label wont have property such as fontFamily, fontColor, etc to be set with, so I only get the text by myLabel.text = richTextEditor.text, is there a work around ?
- When I use AS to change the rotation of the label, the label did rotate, but the label.text no longer display, =/, button reacts the same when I change the rotation, the frame would rotate without text inside the button frame, like always =)), is there a work around for it ?P.S : Is it possible to export from flex application a canvas to a GIF ? I mean, I made a canvas inside my Flex application, I loaded a picture in it, I drag&drop some text inside the canvas, and in the end, could I export the canvas's contents as a GIF/JPG/PNG file ?
