I have a very long series of images ~ 3000 pixels wide total that I want to put in flash but the work area is way too small and the objects just get pushed off the side of the screen.

When I launch Flash builder, I am getting a "workspace in user" message, and Flash Builder keeps prompting me to choose a workspace and it's pointing to the other user's profile.
I keep pointing it to my workspace under "my documents" and I check the following box:
Use this as the default and do not ask again.
However, every time I open up Flash builder, it's asking me again? Is there any way to stop this? Like, is there some file I have to delete or something?
I have a HTML box and load a local html file from the project. In this HTML file I use jquery and I want to load an image from my user directory. I see the image from my user directory but jquery doesn't works. I get this error:

But if I load an image from the app workspace, everything works fine (I see the image and Jquery works). Is this a policy problem? The error says that is a "null object reference" problem, but this can't be true...
i have been using AS2.0 for quite a long time. And i started using papervision3D too.I am using tutorial made by Lee Brimelow's cube tutorial. but i want different results. So long i am able to move the cube in one direction and that is my requirement. But in his tutorial he as link to urls. what i want is to expand one face of the cube which is clicked to expand to fit in the screen.(i am also using fullscreen and stage resize).

I have tried to change workspace but I can't get this panel. When I choose (Window > Properties) I only get a properties panel on right side but It's not that panel I'm looking for.

View 3 RepliesI installed cs5 creative suite on windows 7 64bit, I've got cs4 creative suite installed, all programs work fine, only flash cs5 has a problem, when I try to launch it, it loop after the write "I'm creating the workspace ... " (similar). It loop to infinite, I see the logo and a window with label = "flash cs5", into the window there isn't nothing, only a white page with the "cursor wait".I tried all the advise by adobe (on google cpsid_82252) but nothing work fine ... I re-installed all creative (after WinCS5Cleanupscript) but nothing ...

View 2 RepliesIs it possible to arrange panels inside the Flash workspace, to have one panel at the top, wide 100% (the timeline panel). Then below it, have 2 columns: main window panel on the left and properties on the right.
From what I experienced, it is not posible with docking. Either you must have all 3 panels 100% wide, or you must have 2 columns from top to bottom, and within each of those 2 columns, arrange as you wish.
I have a classroom with 20 workstations, 5 or 6, of theses computers when using flash only shows a view of the stage without the workspace. when when reduce down to a view of 50% it places the stage in the upper right hand corner and never allows the normal view of the stage and workspace.

However, when I first launched the software I am getting the following error: The following panel layout is missing or could not be read: /users/rob/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml The application will not have a correct layout. load one from Windows ->Workspace Once past this message none of the panels load.
View 3 RepliesI' m having an issue with setting a button hit area.I have imported a bitmap image, and converted it to a symbol button, and set it a hit event.My problem is that the hit area of the button is more than what i want, I want the hit area to be only the bitmap itself, and not its whole extent.The red circle is out of my bitmap picture, but because it is in its extent if I press there it will invoke a hit event.

View 3 RepliesSince at least cs3, Illustrator, InDesign & Photoshop has all had the Alt + mouse wheel zoom function. I have wondered when this would become available in flash. I just installed my cs5 design premium and immediately noticed that the zooming function has been further improved in the other programs but still nothing has happened in flash.
Am I missing some way to enable this zoom function or is there some third party plugin that can help me? It is annoying and time consuming to have to press z then click around to get the right zoom level and then click whatever tool I was using before instead of just pressing alt and scrolling a bit.
I have an 800x800px button within a 800x800 stage, in the up state only 200px of the button are visible, the others 600px remains out of the stage, the over state is a movie clip with a spring-like animation that brings the button to the left to a viewable area of 600 pixels (while now only 200px are left out of the stage). the down state is very the same than the over (without animation, so no changes in size at all).
The problem here is how i set my hit area: if I set it to be the size of the up state then the button works the way it's supposed to work but if i move the mouse just i little to the left (just out of the hit area, remember, same size as the up state) then is considered not to be on the over state so i come back to my initial 200px button. By the way if i set the hit area to match the size of the button once it has completed it animation on over state (600px of viewable button) I fix this issue but then I will click the button even when I'm out of the UP state.It's possible to place a movie clip inside the hit area so that it always mach the motion of the movie clip inside the over state?[URL]This is an early prototype of the site but you'll see what i mean, my buttons are the numbered tabs, when you roll over there you'll see they become animated but i planning to make this animation much more exaggerated and then is when the problem come...
When using HTML and CSS you can automate the size of an "area" of the page an "area" is classed as a DIV and you automate it by setting its height and/or width to auto (usually height only with width given a fixed size)in adition you can set the DIVs overflow parameter
this is vital for CMS managed websites
does flash have any simple functions for achieveing the same result? or if i used flash with a CMS system would i need use AS3 to calculate the total height and width of all child objects and set this number as the height and width of the pearent object? (with HTML/CSS i would use javascript to do this)
I want to have 3 movie clips inside another container movie clip (the 3 will serve as buttons). When I scroll over one button, I want it to expand at the same time, pushing the other movie clip up or down, depending on where the user scrolls. If i have the three buttons that are each 100px tall for example, and the container mc is say 500. when the user scrolls on the middle button, I would like it to "grow" to 300px, while pushing the 100px button above it to the limit of the container. when the user scrolls to the top button, it would grow to 300px, the middle would shrink back to 100px, and all the buttons would still fit in the container mc.

View 5 RepliesI'm trying to build a "product spotlight" area on my site's homepage. There are a lot of products, so I want to display them randomly, and I want to specify an image, link and text in the XML file.
I've started by using the XML gallery on kirupa.com, but that didn't quite do what I wanted. I found a little workaround when I found a random XML image loader on another site, and used that.. all it would load was an image, so to make the product photos be links and have special text I made each photo a .swf instead of .jpg file and added a button link over the whole image. This way works, but we are adding more and more products and it's becoming cumbersome. There will be about 50 different products randomly changing.
It would be perfect if we could just set up the xml like
<list> <product> <image>whatever.com/product1.jpg</image> <url>whatever.com/product.2htm</url> <title>Buy this now for $3.50</title> </product> <product> <image>whatever.com/product2.jpg</image> <url>whatever.com/product2.htm</url> <title>Buy this now for $4.50</title> </product></list>
And then the flash file would have the link on the top layer and pull the url from the xml file, bottom layer would load in the image, and in the middle we'd have the title, maybe I'd have it slide in with a basic tween or something like that. And then, there could be like 50 different images listed in the xml, and it would display one randomly for like 10 seconds, then fade into a new one, and just keep swapping it out forever and ever. I really want to do it this way because I can update the text or images without having to build a new .swf file every time something changes.I know how to do some regular basic flash stuff, but I never got into the hardcore actionscripting, so I'm kinda stumped. Anyone know how I can pull something like this off or know of freeware example that I can use and build off of?
I was at a friend's house and wanted to show him our website. When I navigated to it, about 10% of the area outside of the stage was visible. It was almost as if the swf had been shrunk by 10%, but still within the stage area (750px x 600px). I'm not sure what's causing it, but I've seen it happen once before with a computer here at our office.
It always seems to happen with Internet Explorer. When we right-clicked on the swf and choose "show all" it filled the area and looked normal. I've never encoutered the problem using Firefox and only some of the time when using Internet Explorer. Not sure if it just happens with a certain version of IE or what.[URL]..
I am trying to make a brain anatomy game in flash CS3 and I am having some difficulty getting the buttons to respect certain proportions. Allow me to elaborate.

And then I bring it into photoshop and make a different layer for each different structure (in the screenshot I only did it for one structure but you get the point)

Now what I would like to do is import my .psd file into flash and make every layer a different button. But I don't know of a way to view layers of a .psd file in flash. But here's the bigger problem. As you can see, it makes the "clickable" area for the button a rectangle shape.

Whereas I would like for it to be the shape of the specific structure. If the clickable area is a rectangle then there is an overlap onto other structures which is not at all ideal. Especially when I get into smaller structures. What I want is for the button to be exactly like the layer in photoshop.

i have a drop down menu am working on and each button tab (although they are not button instances !) when clicked opens up the "drop down" section which you can mouse over to choose another specific button etc - if you mouse out of that drop down area then it pulls back up to the original tab state .. what do i change to the code below to decrease the area that you mouse out of to make the drop down area pull back .....at the moment it at least two inches on the screen below and to the right of boundaries of the drop down box before it pulls up - i want to it pull up as the mouse leaves the boundary box .... hope this makes sense .... there is some part of the actionscipt below that controls this but can work out which bit and how to change it !!! (am guessing the x mouse and y mouse bits - but how to change it ???)

how to increase the work area of a flash document? Not the stage but the empty space around the stage. [URL] It seems to be limited to about 4,000 pixels wide regardless of the zoom level. This is a big problem for me as I'm working with a movie clip with a width of 8000 pixels and if I want to add text to part of the clip that's at 6,000 pixels in, I can't see it because its outside the work area. I can't shift the clip to the left to access the part on the right because if I do, the text area doesn't move with it. Is there any way to link objects together? When I select multiple items on the stage and Right Click, there's an option called "Break Apart" but I don't see one to join them or link them.
