Professional :: Import FLA File Of The SWF File At Runtime
Mar 4, 2010What do i specify in the "Source" field? Must it be the FLA file of the SWF file i'm importing? Or can it be left blank?

Jun 25, 2010I am having one of those 'self doubt sanity' moments. Entering melt down here ! I want to make a movieclip from a graphic map background, and some existing movieClips that reside in another .fla
In this other .fla file the movieclips are in the wrong layer so by starting over I wish to tidy things up.
How do I create a movie clip from such ?
Then I start thinking, how does one create a movie clip, then bring it into another file ?
I even did a test that went:-
1) create new AS3 file
2) draw a box
3) select box and hit F8 Convert to symbol, select movieclip and name it box_movieclip
4) d/click box and made a classic tween and had box moving across stage.
5) save as and named file MovieClip_Boxtest.fla
6) open new file AS3 and import to library the BoxTween.fla and got a message saying One or more files not imported as problems reading them.
So having done the above stages 1 to 5 which made a movieclip, how do I get that into another fla file ?

Dec 24, 2010I need to import three pdf text files into my Flash CS4 for use in a project I am trying to complete but every time I try to import these pdf files to the library I get an error which reads "One or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them". I am using Adobe Reader X, which is the latest reader available, Flash CS4 and Windows Vista Home Premium and I cannot understand why I cannot import pdf files to Flash.

Jul 1, 2011I'm having a strange issue with CS5.5 and the import for runtime sharing settings. Here's what I'm doing: I create two .fla's, Export.fla and Import.fla. In Export.fla, I create a shape, select it, press F8 and tick export for runtime sharing, to create a really simple exported movie clip. I click the exported symbol in the library, press Ctrl-C, switch to Import.fla and press Ctrl-V. Everything ok so far, the symbol is imported for runtime sharing.
The first problem I have at this stage is that changes I do to the exported symbol in Export.fla are not reflected in Import.fla, only in the final .swf's I can see the changes. Also, unlike in CS4 and CS5 I cannot "Update" the imported symbol in the library right-click menu, to make changes to Export.fla visible in Import.fla. The menu entry is just greyed out...
So I tried to use Authortime sharing, in the Symbol Properties for the imported symbol in Import.fla. I link the source to the symbol in Export.fla, and once I do that, everything is completely borked. The previously imported symbol is no longer imported. Whenever it is changed in Export.fla, it gets an "Export for Runtime Sharing" tick in its Properties in Import.fla, and worst, it is not shared at runtime, like I need it to. how to get the "normal" CS/4/5 behaviour in CS5.5: a runtime shared symbol, that can be updated in Import.fla (I dont care if manually or auotmatically) when I change it in Export.fla, and which also is runtime shared?

Any Way To Import Classes In AS File?
Jul 7, 2009I tried to import a class in a .as file and I had strange behaviors that I cannot explain. First of, I tried to get work a senocular class by importing it locally his script in the same directory of my main .as class.

There was no error returned from the compiler saying not found but there was one telling my class is still undefined as when I try to make the class work. (possibly undefined method). So I did it with the old fashion I found in some demos, placing the .as file in a com/senocular/display/ folder:

import flash.events.*;
import com.senocular.display.duplicateDisplayObject;
And then no errors. The compiler recognize the class and execute it.
Import Data From An XLS File?
Mar 2, 2011My supervisor is interested in showing certain data within a dynamic map and this data must be fed from an Excel file. I was thinking I may have to use some service to convert the XLS to a CSV file, but if there's a direct way to do it with AS3 I can skip that step. The Excel file will be updated regularly. Eventually, she wants this movie to allow her to modify the Excel file as well.

Flash :: Professional - File Unexpected Format Can't Open File
Jun 1, 2011I have been working on a project for a week and suddenly it crashed during save (nothing strange had been imported or anything i just saved after moving content around) and now i cant open my file again. I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.
