How can I add new nodes/elements/properties to the existing xml file at runtime in flex. I have a xml file which is used to display components in flex. I want to add/edit component and their properties at runtime.
To add new component I have created an object with all the properties and elements of components. How can I convert this object in xml format and update the existing xml file?
Im having is that I cant update the information that I get from my XML file at runtime. I have some static textfields that updates just fine, but its the dynamic ones that dont play nice.
The project is a small display that shows the amount of minutes that is left from the time set in the XML to the current time. I dont want to bore you too much with the details of it all.
Heres the code! Right now though it doesnt update at all. Removed those bits of code since it got me nowhere
Code: var container:Sprite = new Sprite(); bottom_mc.addChild(container); var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
OK my project uses an xml file called Chart-app.xml inside this XML file there is a tag called <version></version> which I keep in the format like: <version>1.2.128</version> I am wondering if I can set it to append to the third number every time I run my project. So if I ran it now it would be 1.2.129, then if i ran it again it would be 1.2.130
I am developing a Flex + AIR application. While debugging using Flash Builder sometimes I get runtime errors dialog with 'continue' & 'dismiss all' buttons. But when I release a build(.air) & run the application after installing. Then I don't get the same dialog in the release build. I need to track these types of runtime errors for that I am trying to write them to a file as logs. I tried using try catch & writing to file in catch block, but I am not able to get any wayout for unhandled exceptions or runtime errors
I have an .fla file where I'm trying to change some of the links. Say it currently goes to index-1.html and I want to change to aboutus.html.
I can't seem to locate where the actual link designation is .. from the documentation on Flash forums it should be in Actions, however I can't seem to find it.
I made changes to the file and attempted to load it into my browser (IE) but it only loads the file from before I made the changes. I published the file and even cleared my cache. I double checked the location and it looks fine.
I have updated the flash file on my page.In IE its showing the latest one.But in firefox the previous file only reflecting...Any other plugins for java, flash should I download for firefox?
I have what seems a straighfoward situation: I update the source property of an image, when the image is loaded i want to redraw the border skin to fit the new size of the image.
newImgEdit.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadImgComplete); newImgEdit.source = myurl_ressource; private function loadImgComplete(evt:Event):void {
I am deploying Updates via SCUP and SCCM to hundreds of Computers. Fortunately Adobe provides an SCCM Update Catalog for both Adobe Flash ActiveX and Adobe Flash Plugin. But now my Problem: After publishing the Update via SCCM, the client is not supposed to be interfered with the Update Progress (which is working) I figured the Updater works like this: First SCCM checks if a Update needs to be deployed, if this is the case, The Flash Updater begins. First the old Flash Version is beeing uninstalled. But now: if the Client has a Browser Window (IE, or Firefox) open, the Updater is not able to install the new Flash Version and quits with an Error. This leaves the Client PC without any Flash (because its being uninstalled before) How can I prevent Flash being uninstalled due to the Update progress not working while a Browser window is open?
I've got a movieclip, which has got a dynamic text element.The movieclip uses a package for its codeThe package if obviously derived from the MovieClip classI've got a timer, that updates the dynamic text field every second.When debugging the code, I see that the timer works well. Its updates the value of the dynamic text field.
i had a flash class file for my movie clip in the stage .i had written all necessary codes in the class file. when i test the movie the class file works fine. But when i updated the class file with new code it doesn't seems to be updated in fact the movie clip runs with the last saved class file.But when i change the class name and file name(to a new name) of the class file the movie clip is updating. So what goes wrong here?? Do i need to change the class name and the file name for each update????
i'm trying to create some code which would create instances of arbitrary classes.for example... i'm making a game which will be hosted on a site, and characters i create over time will eventually be selectable for use in game. but instead of uploading an entirely new game whenever i decide to add a new character, i'd prefer to just update an xml file listing the characters, as well as an swf file for each character class.so during actual runtime, i'd have to create instances of these characters.... but i wouldn't necesarily know which character class constructor i'd be creating.... it would depend on who the user selects.if it were up to me, i'd be able to decide what class instance i'd like to make from a string variable (taken from xml).like this maybe...
var classname:String = "CharacterOne()";
var character:Object = new classname;
....instead of having to write: var character:CharacterOne = new CharacterOne();
I load my xml file. Can I using action script 3.0 to write in the xml in the runtime because I want to store some data from the user when he use run the application.
I'm creating a small size Flex movies which contains two line charts, at the moment the size of the release build swf is 343KB, which is too large for our needs.
I've tried changing the loading of the SWC file to Runtime Shared Libraries, but I found that this removed the text of the charts (the text for the x and y axis). Why would the text be removed when the Framework linkage is set as a Runtime shared library?
I'm trying to build a flex project, linking it to some RLSs. When setting up the project in Flex Builder, the corresponding "build configuration" (that I got by adding -dump-config to the compiler options) generates (among other things) a tag like this :
Anyone know how to change a single instance of an item renderer for a Flex tree item at runtime? To reiterate, I'm not trying to change the entire tree's item renderer like this:tree.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(ItemRenderer2);I'm trying to change the item renderer of a single tree item like this (the following code does not work):tree.selectedItem.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(ItemRenderer2);To put it more simply, does anyone know how to reference an instance of an item renderer and set it to a new item renderer class? I've tried using the Tree's itemToItemRenderer() method with no success.
I am having difficulty getting a reference to elements added after compile-time using the 'id' property. I have seen a few forum topics suggesting that this isn't possible, and that getting a reference to elements added this way is trickier, but never just exactly what that trick is. This code throws a fun little: Error: uncaught exception: Error calling method on NPObject! [plugin exception: "ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property canvas_tentpoles_0 not found on SGraph and there is no default value."].
I was wondering is there a way to load images at run time that are loaded from an external webhost. Basically i want to be able to store the addresses of the images into an array and then each slide is going to contain 1 image, which will load the next image in the array when the user clicks the next button.
I'm fine with getting the array setup etc, but need to know is it possible to use web addresses and load images at runtime?? Aswell as defining a size and position for where the image will appear.
I'm not sure if Flash 8 supports this loading on the fly so the speak?? Basically I will update the images when required by replacing them with the same name and address where the photos are being hosted, but the program will still load from the same address, therefore showing the updated images.
Is it possible to load an external SWC file (at runtime) and place them at the stage? Is it possible to refer to them by strings? For example: var sprite = getExternalLibrarySprite("sprite_name")?
i've done some simple apps to get the felling of it, nothing involving updating a file or a database.I wanted help, how to do a query to a MySql DB from a Flex application (thats gonna be running in a web server).I didn't saw any duplicated questions, sorry if any exists, just point me to it.
I've created a AS3 class which extends UIComponent so that I can easily add it to my MXML layout. It works fine, but I'm trying to figure out how to update the UIComponent width and height dynamically. I want my super UIComponent to draw a border around the content, so I need get the specific 'content' dimensions in order to do this.
I understand the idea of UIComponent is that you are supposed to specifically set the width and height... but I am literally only extending it so that I am able to use my custom component with MXML easily.Is there a method in which I can get the width and height of a UIComponents 'content'?
I have been trying to find a way to connect Flex to sharepoint in an elegant way that allows me to update lists, build charts, and create widgets with FLEX on the client-side. I have researched this extensively but I am running into circles.
I understand the basics of Flex data connection/webservices/etc... , I just can't seem to get my head around how to use the sharepoint list services.
I've seen the Loom project, but are there any alternatives that are more mature (and actively developed)? I am looking for something that would allow load-time weaving of pointcuts into existing binary code at runtime with the AVM2 runtime.
I am getting runtime error #2136 'The SWF file at %1 contains invalid data' (I know, %1 is a reference to the file producing the error) All I did was change some button graphics to movie clip types and have solved all the type mismatch and other syntax errors. This is a file I have been working on and posting about. This is getting annoying. What would be causing this type of error??
i'm trying to hardcode a complicated looping movement of an mc on the stage. the way i plan to deal with it is first, to use a guide layer to actually tell the mc where to go, and then save at runtime the sequence of position (x/y coordinates) the mc goes to to follow the movement. With this set of coordinates, i will reproduce the movement via actionscript instead of guiding.
how i can output those variables into an external txt file from flash at runtime ?

What is the URL that Flex 4 uses to download RSLs at runtime? I want to check if I have access to this URL and that it is not blocked by the proxy that I am behind and would like to be able to put the URL into a browser to do this.Obviously there are many URLs (one for each swz file), but does anyone know what the basic URL pattern is, or can anyone give me a sample URL?
