Professional :: Inconsistent Playback On Various Computers?
Apr 6, 2012I created a Flash .exe that plays a couple FLV files, but in testing the files we've noticed some inconsistent playback on various computers and here's what we've found: On an Intel Zeon 3ghz quadcore 32bit Windows 7 machine, the playback is smooth and acceptable, using an average of 50% of all four cores during playback.
On a single core Windows XP PC, there is some playback hesitation using 100% of the single core during playback. On an Intel P4 3ghz with HT (dual core) 32bit Windows 7 machine, the playback is initially very choppy with continueing choppiness throughout to a somewhat lesser degree, using almost 100% of both cores continuously during playback.
We want to point this out because on PCs that are less than multi-core Intel Zeons, we would reasonably expect that the playback experience for the end user will be unsatisfactory. Is there anything that can be done about this to avoid this being a problem after the fact, as this client will be having many of these USBs manufactured.
Professional :: Title Font Appears Different On Different Computers
Feb 23, 2010I have built a website in FLASH CS4 (version 10). The website runs perfectly on my MAC core 8 but when I view it on either of my laptops (both are also Macs couple months old) the main title of the site + the on/off for the music appears in a completely different font and one word of the title disappears.I have tried turning the title to a button and to a movie and kept it as text and nothing makes a difference..

Jun 26, 2010I've been testing my website's intro banner on a few different computers.
On my computer, in Safari and Firefox, it plays at the same speed as when I play it locally.
It runs fine on all machines I checked at work, but one. On my slowish laptop, ran slowly there too.
It's a pretty small file 87kb. Is it a cpu issue and not being able to process multiple animations at the same time?
Is there a way to remedy that or just don't worry about it? Is there some sort of standard when it comes to cpu/swf testing?

Professional :: Referencing External Video Across Multiple Computers?
Dec 16, 2010I have made a .swf that references an external .f4v . The swf plays fine on my own computer, but does not play on a colleagues computer, or another computer which we tested. The file is not for upload to web , it is for local playback. I assume this is a file path issue, but I have tried many different things including specifying a path and then recreating the same directory structure on the other computer. What am I missing? The f4v file can playback on the colleagues computer (I did install ffdshow , although another tested mp4 also plays back fine) but not the .swf. !

Mar 9, 2011Ive imported an FLV into a Project. Some computers wont play the video back if the Flash Player is set to Full Screen. The screen goes black during Full Screen. If you set the player to regular, you can see the video playing (embedded into design) but once you set player to Full Screen the video plays on its own right at centre of screen. Im working on a Touch Screen Display that has the display set to Portrait mode. Im investigating if the display card is causing the problem.

Flash :: Java - Content In Micro Edition Application?
May 11, 2011Despite my luddite tendencies, I now have a phone with Java support - but no Flash support. I also have a copy of Macromedia Flash MX2004, though I'm unlikely to upgrade any time soon. What I'd like to be able to do is develop some content (including vector animations) in Flash, then use those resources in a Java Micro Edition application. I don't need all features of Flash - in particular, I don't care about ActionScript support. But I do want to be able to load a SWF file (or, perhaps better, an alternative file format that can be generated using a converter tool), and to be able to display animations and use other resources (particularly play sounds) from in that file.
Is there a good library and toolkit to support this kind of thing? Obviously (from the MX2004) it doesn't need to be completely up to date. On knowledge level - I've been a programmer for decades, and my everyday language these days is C++. However, I have a very limited knowledge of Java, and virtually no knowledge (yet) of Micro Edition and its libraries. I've already heard of Flash to J2ME converters, but so far as I can see they generate complete applications in one step, rather than treating the SWF file as a source of resources to be controlled from separately written Java code.
EDIT I get the feeling that this is (with slight modifications) probably quite easy. Java Mobile Edition supports SVG vector graphics. SVG supports animations. There are (I'm pretty certain) ways to convert flash animations to SVG - probably a simple export-to-SVG in the application, though I've not checked. This in itself doesn't give me a convenient bundle-of-media resources file format, but that's a relatively simple problem to solve, so long as there's a way to "load" SVG and other media files from some kind of non-file stream class that gets its data in turn from the bundle-of-media file.

Professional :: Flash CS5 Install Failure?
Sep 6, 2003Gb HDD (dual core). I've already installed with succeed Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5 and InDesign CS5 with success on my computer with DVD versions on this Windows 7 boot. I precise I already succeed to install Flash CS5 on the same computer but with Windows Vista installed (dual boot), so the installer seems to be OK. But when I'm on my Windows 7 boot, when I try to install Flash CS5 Pro downloadable version, I get some errors as soon as the installer try to copy some files on my HD and the installer stops immediatly with those error messages:

Professional :: Flash Player Install Failure On OSX?
Oct 5, 2007I've notice all the trouble people are having trying to get updates of FP to cooperate with Vista and IE, but is anyone out
there having trouble getting the installer to work on a mac? After running the uninstaller, which says it was successful, I cannot get ANY version of FP to re-install on my mac. Both Firefox and Safari are showing the plug-in as missing and when prompted to download and install, the installation fails again and again.
The only way I have been able to successfully get flash player working again is to re-install my version of Creative Suite,
which automatically installs FP when you install the Flash application.

Jun 22, 2011I've just purchased Adobe's Design Premium CS5 and installed it from the disk onto a brand new Dell XPS laptop running windows 7 home, 64 bit. Every program runs great except for Flash professional which will not open. The loading screen appears, and then I get a message that says:
"Adobe Flash cs5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I reinstalled, no luck.
