I need to add 2 JPG images to the front of a video and then reupload it as YouTube video. I downloaded the video from YouTube as both a FLV and a MP4 file. Is Flash the best program to add the graphics? If so, how do I get it back to FLV or MPG format? Do I need to get the orginal file from my distributor?

My problem is that my old computer *exploded* last week and i was making a project for my dad so I lost my (.fla) file. But, I have an animation of that same project in (.swf) on my USB Key because I've exported it just before my computer crash just to watch what It was looking like. So my question is, is it possible to open my (.swf) in Flash Pro and get all my snippet code back and all my frame back and everything else (like if it was my (.fla) project?)

My question is; if I create some of the imagery in photoshop save it as a .png and use it within my Flash movie will it read correctly in Internet Explorer?

All my work up to this point has been Flash MX, I currently into a project that was done in CS3 and I also have flash CS3 now. The project folder seems to broken out into several folders, I was looking for a brief overview of what each folder is.com - this folder has many .as script files org - this has several other folders like papervision, alivepdf, ascollada id.app - this has several folders in it all ending with .lproj extenstion like en.lproj, fr.lproj and one swf file. Are these language foldrs?There is also a css, fonts, resources and js folders; I kind of get what these are. So, are all these folders generated when you start new cs3 project?

In one of them, I use the "this.root" property to access my main class instance elements at runtime.When I access public method references, same thing, I can trace them and have a true reponse to the question : [myPublicMethod is Function] ? BUT, when I want to execute the public methods, like MainClass (this.root). myPublicMethod(), the compiler boldly throws this at me :Error 1195: Attempted access of inaccessible method myPublicMethod through a reference with static type MainClass.

When the website is opened as[URL] the functionality of the swf does not work i.e. the links contained within the buttons aren't executed on click. However, if you enter the address as h[URL] the links work exactly as they should. I have contacted my host for clues but because I don't know exactly what I am asking for, the help offered is of a 'have your cleared your cookies' variety.

I have a large Flash site. Inside one of the frames I've placed an MP3 track as a theme tune. I now cant find where it is. Is there a way to track down the theme tune so it can be removed from the site?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to watch a flash video in fullscreen mode on a second monitor but whenever I click anything that causes the flash video to lose focus the video minimizes and goes to it's normal size. Is there a fix for this? or at least a way to zoom in on the video so its nearly fullscreen? neither IE8 or firefox 3's zoom functions will zoom in on flash.
View 2 RepliesHow does one edit a graphic then have the ability to choose in properties Colour Effect options like alpha or brightness or tint in properties ?
Bringing an .ai file into library then creating a MovieClip of it, I am able to alter colour alpha or brightness or tint etc in properties via Colour Effect option. Use break apart to delete a simple box from part of the artwork and the colour aspects just applied vanish, its back to its original aspect. Try grouping the artwork but still no options now. Same applies if I just place the graphic on stage or open the graphic from the Library.
Try it a different way, bring it in and break apart, then edit the artwork then group it to see if properties has colour effect option for it but still no joy. Try converting it to graphic after editing and giving it a new name, it vanishes, nothing visible even if I select that graphic in library.
It seems that the only way to apply Colour Effect in properties for a graphic or MovieClip is to NOT edit its contents when placed on stage. I cannot bring it in without needing to edit it as the program making the ai. adds a box that I dont need, border of the page in that program in fact.
I have no idea how to use AS3 and I was needing to make my project looping 3 times from the start to the end but stopping on the last frame after the 3rd time it loops. I have no idea how to do this without copying all the frames.

lately i've associated a class file (.as) to my movie and immediately after, when publishing the movie i got the following error message: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: URLRequest. as well as a couple of other related error messages: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method URLRequest. 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method navigateToURL. when i remove the link to the class file, the problem goes away. also, i have checked the class file for mentioning of "URLRequest" and nothing is there.
I'm new to Flash authoring, and something seems puzzling. I see that it is possible in Flash to render an animation (project) to AVI or MOV video formats, and it seems to work fine (although you can't choose your AVI codec,
which seems like a trivial feature to put in. Is there a way to render a Flash animation to FLV? I am working on a project that will play FLV video files inside an FLV player object (SWF object). I would like to create FLVs from inside Flash, using the nifty animation tools and whatnot, and have them play in the same manner as the other FLV videos created by other tools (e.g., FinalCut Pro edited video). I recently discovered the Project panel with the Flash application. I'd like to start using it on a regular basis, but I can't seem to figure out how to do a multi-file search of all the AS files included in a Project. From what I can tell, the search functionality within the Flash app only looks at the current document. Or is there a way to do a global search for a text string within a Project?
View 5 RepliesI'm new to CS5.5 after being away since, I think, Macromedia was around. I just bought CS5.5 soley for creating simple, fun Android apps for my son (animated storybooks etc).
However, I'm constantly changing my phones and we also have a tablet and the wife has a phone with a small resolution.
What I'm wanting to do, is create an app that's at a resolution for my tablet (1024x600), but then also be able to scale it down to my Optimus 3D (800x480) and the Wife's Xperia Mini Pro (640x480)
Now, there will be bitmaps in there, so I didn't want the phone/Air resizing the app to fit the screen and using more ram and cpu than needed so I was wanting to create 2 or 3 versions all at different resolutions.
I'm doing and animatic movie with flash (means lots of hand drawn frames and many layers) I also have about 40 sequences
I would like to scale down my whole movie to a smaller size like 720*480 (actual is 1980*1080) but when I change size in "propery" window it just change the size of workspace and drawings stays the same size.
is there any way to have the graphics scale to the new document size without using "transform tool" on each sequence, because flash crashes when I do that.
I am in the process of updating all of my symbols in a project I am working on, and found that some of the objects are set to temporary paths, I guess I had just imported from the clipboard, as opposed to importing an actual saved file.
Anyway, there is one particular graphic object that, according to my library, is in use in 1 place in my project, but I can't for the life of me find where that is. Is there any way to locate instances of objects in the library? Or am I going to have to go through my entire project, piece by piece?
have been making a digital portfolio that I plan on putting up as a website. Once before the project has gotten very large (at the time 500megs). Now this originally large project had gotten to the point where it was telling me there wasn't enough memory. What I did to fix this was copy and paste all the frames from each scene into several new projects and then piece those new projects together to remake my complete project.
I am now doing this again but at this point piecing back the last scene of mine is taking up too much memory. I have 4 gigs of memory on a 3.06 GHz intel core 2 duo imac. first off, should this be happening? Should 4 ghz be enough? second, it appears that flash projects tend to compile a lot of baggage; is this true? Thirdly, is there any way I can fix this without buying two more 4 gig memory cards?
I am trying to embed a 3rd party flash component into my current flash project. As a stand alone, the component works fine but when I try and import the xml file for the component into my current flash project library, the message I get:
" one or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them" I have tried importing the xml file into another dummy cs4 project on another machine and again no success, so I believe there are elements within the xml file that will not work with cs4. Below is the xml file code.

If I have a project that I want to make into both a .swf for an online game and an AIR desktop app, can I do that, or do I have to pick when I first create the file? Once I choose 'Flash File (Actionscript 3.0)' or 'Flash File (Adobe AIR)' am I restricted to only one or the other?

If I have multiple instances of an flvplayback component on different scenes, when the projector is fullscreen, jumping to a scene with an flvplayback on it, leads to having a black screen only!

I have actually found a half solution in that loadMovieNum does what I want, except I want the external .swf to be inside my project, and so it's compiled into the same .swf. This would then mean that the external .swf doesn't need to be present thereafter.

However I realized that my application needs to be able to use the File system, which means I'll need to use AIR's API. I have an project that when you enter a certain number and click a ''enter'' button, it send you to an image (forest picture, desert picture, town picture, etc). In these pictures, I've hidded some object. In exemple, in the forest picture, there's some blue birds, red birds, green birds, etc. I want people to find them and click on them to get some information about these birds. The thing is that these birds are hidden. When I open my picture with windows viewer, i can zoom-in and find them with the little hand toolso everything is fine cause I can find them. The problem is that when I export my project as an animation, we can't find the birds because we cant's zoom in. My question is, is there a way to zoom-in these images and navigate trought them (with the little hand tool) like we can do with windows viewer? Or is there a way to just Zoom-in my animation?

The icon has a white circle with a line through it and if I try to start it it says:You can't open the application Adobe Flash CS5.5.app" because it's not supported on this type of Mac.I have a Core i7 iMac with 8gb ram and a Radeon 5750 with 1gb of vram running 10.6.8.Can that not be enough to run Flash?
View 1 RepliesI have an FLV embedded in a ColdFusion page on a client's intranet site. This FLV plays perfectly on the test server. It also plays when the link to the video goes to the test server, rather than the intranet server the page is on. But when I set it up so the page pulls the video from the intranet server itself, the video will start, play for a few seconds, and then freeze. Sometimes (not always) after a minute or so it will play for a few more seconds, but then it will freeze again and that's it.
The file is embedded using FlowPlayer, but I've tried a different player (OSFlvPlayer) with the exact same result - plays on the test server, starts and freezes on the intranet server - so it's not the player. It's obviously the server, but what can I check? The MIME type is correct. Actually we tried it on both video/x-flv and flv-application/octet-stream (I saw the latter on a support site somewhere) and changing the value had no effect.
