View 3 RepliesI am making a menu that consists of 6 different rollover buttons, these3 buttons sit on a path where the graphics look like a road. What I need to do is have an mc of a car that moves along the road. When the car is at button 1, and you mouseover button 2, the car moves towards button 2, then when you mouseover button 3, the car moves towards button 3 etc., all while the car stays on the road (path) that it sits on - so not like a mouse follow but constrained to the path. I also need the car to go in reverse, so if the car is at button 4, and you mouseover button 3, the car will move towards it.

I'm using AS3 with Flash CS4. I have three movieclips, all using buttonMode, which animates when the mouse is over the MC (MOUSE_OVER) and when the mouse leaves the MC (MOUSE_OUT), using listeners. Or in fact, when the cursor is over one MC the other two animates. My problem is that when i move the mouse cursor from one MC directly to another one, the MC's aren't done animating the MOUSE_OUT-animation before it starts to do the MOUSE_OVER-animation. Probably a recurring issue with an easy solution.
Is there a way to check what frame the MC's are currently at and then use an IF-statement to check what should happen next? Or how am i suppose to approach this problem you think? I'm sort of a Flash newbie, i've just taken some [URL] courses.
I need some buttons, and they should slide continuously in axis X in different speed. And when I go over them with the mouse, I want, the buttons slow down, and stop. And when I go out from them, I want these buttons, to continue the sliding in X. I've already done the graphics, but in Flash CS5 I stopped.... I cant do it myself.
View 1 RepliesI need to show different custom pointer when mouseover 2 different invisible buttons. These are next and back buttons which cover the entire left and right part of the stage. How this can be done in as3? Or is there a better way of doing it? I checked out the import flash.ui adobe live doc but can't quite make head and tail of it. I guess the example shown is only to change to custom cursor for entire stage.
View 4 RepliesI am making some buttons that enlarge and then fall back to their original size when you mouse over them. The font used is a pixel font and this blurs when you do the mouse over. Is there anyway you can make them so they dont blur?

I've got arrow buttons and a movie clip on my stage. I have an event listener for each arrow button for a MOUSE_OVER event that calls a handler function in my movie clip. The handler functions just call prevFrame(); or nextFrame(); What I want to happen is that the movie clip continues to play forward or backward as long as the mouse is over the appropriate arrow button.
Stage Code:

I have six images on a frame as buttons with rollovers making them expand on the button frames. The issue is when the mouse goes over they only expand over the other buttons they are above stackingwise in that layer. I really was hoping to create just a simple bit of code, but it seems that things like containers and children are all needed?[code]The little line of code was my most recent attempt but it pulled up an error about things I have no clue on (1118). Is there a simple code to move the current button on top with out having to say "forget AS3!" and just make a 5 frame webpage a 60 frame one? what is the best format to import videos into a flash project? I went with a swf version, but I was not sure if the mov or other formats would be better.
View 7 RepliesI am using a custom skin on Flex's TabBar, and specifically the skin the controls ButtonBarButton. The width of the button is a variable size depending on the text it contains, and background of the button is an image that only displays on the selected states of the button.

I tried wrapping the entire block in a Group tag, but to no avail. The invisible Rect does indeed fix the "machine gun" flickering that occurred when the mouse hovered over any edge of the button, but there is still a flicker on every mouse enter and mouse leave of each button.

View 2 RepliesI have a 400x300 area that needs to detect a rollover and animate several buttons, text fields, etc. sliding into it when the mouse rolls into the area so that they can be manipulated, and animate them sliding out when the mouse rolls out of the area to hide them from view. What is the best way to do this? The only way I have got it to work so far is by using a listener to track mouse position, but it's not reliable since you can move the mouse quickly in some areas of the movie and the listener doesn't catch it.

I have downloaded the following code and tried to change it. It works so far, but the attached MC are "pulsating" - if I change them with another MC (with text inside) I can't use them as a Menu links - they are "pulsating" too much and I can't read/see the text properly. where in code I can change(reduce) this "pulsation"? how can I make the MC-s cklickable=working as a buttons with mouseover/mouseout effects (changing color etc.)

The part with the loaded text is fine, but I can't manage to script the arrow buttons to do what I've just described. Even though I have searched the Internet for recipes I just find how to scroll loaded text on click or with a scrollbar
I have a basic mouseover in my flex application which changes an image onmouseover and changes it back onmouseout using the code mouse Over "functionToChangeImageSource()" and another one to mouseout.It works fine when you slowly mouse over and out, however if I quickly move the mouse over it, it occasionally stays on the mouseover image and the mouseout function doesnt appear to kick in. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or does anyone have any ideas why its happening?Also, I've tried the rollOver and rollOut instead but it has the same problem.[code]I'd imagine you're correct about the mouseover event not completing before mouseout is but how to I fix this?

I have been tasked to create banner that has four mouseover areas. The main body of the banner--which includes hyperlinks--and the background of the entire banner must change as the user mouses over the four areas. See the diagrams at the following link (it is not working properly):I attempted to complete this task as follows, but it really isn't behaving properly. I created a layer of buttons and text, and set the alpha levels to 0 for the "over" state of each button. I then created four separate layers containing the appropriate content. When the user mouses over a button on the left, the proper layer would be displayed. I planned to use Actionscript to accomplish this; pseudocode here:

I have a .flv video which is too wide, it needs to be 300px wide. I can scale it down in flash, no problem. I need it to start paused (displaying an image of my choosing) then when they mouseover the image, the image fades out to black real quick and the video starts playing. View 3 RepliesI have an image sequence on my timeline in Flash.I also have two buttons: forwards-button and backwards-button.I would like the timeline to play constantly forward, when the mouse is held over the forwards button.And I would like the timeline to play constantly backwards when the mouse is held over the backwards button.My attempts so far have failed: I can get the button to work only for one step at a time (and then I need to bring the mouse on and off the button again for it to move to the next frame).I need to have the sequence play forwards/ backwards the whole time that the mouse is over the button.

View 7 RepliesAS3 page with text links that change to a new color on mouse_over and change back on mouse_out. Sometimes the links do not change back and all remain colored after mouse-out. I have never been able to simulate the problem on my several computers at several locations but have seen it happen on the clients computers. Is there a known issue perhaps with Flash/AS3/Flash Player Version# that might cause this?

View 3 Repliesok, we have parts in a diagram that our customers will need to click on to add to their cart and stuff. the IT guys want me to set up an xml file in the flash. basically, say the user clicks on a screw, a javascript "window" will open up with more info on the screw and there will be some buttons to add to cart and stuff like that. i assume the xml is for the information, prices, and stuff like that but what i need to know is...
what do i do to set this up correctly? do they need to be buttons? movie clips? how do i need to name the buttons? does the name in the file have to match the name in the xml? (i assume it does) i have an xml file set up for it already. but since this is my first time working with xml i want to make sure i set it up correctly the first time so i dont have to redo very much.
i'm just learning Flash at a local college and my instruction is not being very helpful, so i'm hoping someone can help me. I need to insert a "start" button that will start the movie. I have the button on a layer called "startButton". I inserted another layer and called it "stopMovie" - this is where I add a keyframe on the 1st from and the last frame and then add a actionscript to stopmovie on both frames.
The problem I'm having is when I select the 1st frame of the layer where the button is localed, I go to the actionscript window/global fuction/timeline and then I want to select "play" but the system has it grayed out so I can't select it. My only option is "goto". But that doesn't work. All I want the funtion to do is start playing when I click on the start button.
so i have a simple project where I have my actions script on each button itself.I'd like to have one actionscript file on the main timeline controlling everything instead of having to drill down to change the AS for a button.I have two scenes. Scene none has a button forcing to scene 2. When i put code on main timeline it broke my button that is on Scene 2 that allows me to jump around in that timeline to different frame labels.[code]
View 3 RepliesI am new to Flash CS4 so I may be doing something stupid. I created my assests on Photoshop CS4 and imported them into flash as flash layers. I followed a training video by Paul Trani about creating a first website. I have several pages in my site, home, about, contact, photos etc. I created navigation buttons for the homepage and they work great. However on my other pages I created different buttons as they are in a different place and have some additional buttons that the homepage does not have (except the contact page has common buttons to the homepage). I put the homepage and second page (contact) actions on frame 1. I then created a new keyframe at frame 20 where the rest of the pages uses common buttons. I then changed the language in the action script so as not to conflict with the frame 1 action script. I had trouble making the second group of buttons work so I created a new actions layer (actions2) and they work, except.
Well my homepage buttons work, all of them. I can even go to my contact page (which share the same buttons with the homepage) and then go back to the home page. I can also go from the homepage to the other pages and those buttons work... UNTIL I go back to the home page or to the contacts page (the pages that share buttons) then those buttons NO LONGER WORK??? It seems like once I committ myself to one group of pages (I consider myself having two groups of pages based on the sharing of buttons by each group) it disables the other group.
