Feb 5, 2011I use FCE to edit video. I then convert the video to flv for delivery (viewing) via the Internet. I've read lots of discussion on how to create the flv. I've tried various methods, including:
1) Since I have Flash installed on my computer, I've used FCE's Quicktime conversion to export/encode directly to flv, and
2) Export an uncompressed QT movie from FCE; then used Flash Video Encoder to convert the .mov to .flv
What's best practice (I'm open to other procedures too)?
Professional :: If Go Fullscreen When Viewing An Flv The Video Remains On The Stage
May 5, 2011I've used a standard skin on an FLVplayback component which loads and plays perfectly. The problem arises when I enter fullscreen mode and then leave it again. Once I've done this, the video remains on the stage irrespective of what frame I'm on. I can even change scenes and the video remains in the middle. I haven't even added the video using actionscript so I don't really understand how it could possibly stay on more than the frame its inserted in!? At the moment I've used no ActionScript to control the video. I apologise if I'm missing something, this is the first time I've dealt with videos.

Jan 14, 2011I have a flash animation, simple, it basically fades between several static images in the timeline. I want that sequence in a video I'm working on, so I output the Flash (CS4) to video. I import that video into my Final Cut (6.0.6) sequence, but when it plays. All the fades are gone, and the images simply cut dryly from one to the next. How can I output this Flash to give me the effects I am programming in there into the video?

Jan 27, 2010Our client has encountered a bizarre problem where they hear an audio feedback or some sort of "duality" when playing an F4V file through FMS. When I tested this myself, I did not encounter this issue. I'm wondering if anyone here can provide some insight as to some of the potential causes of this issue and how we can fix it. We are using
1) FLVPlayback 2.5.0.15
2) Application targets the Flash 10.0 runtime
3) We are using a standard FMS 3.5 install, videos located in the vod folder
4) Trying to playback F4V files. The samples provided by FMS also exhibit the same issue.
On another note, I built a bare-bones Flex application (SDK version 3.5.0.12683 and 3.4.0.9271) using the VideoDisplay component and it always has the duality problem. It even gets worse as I refresh the page, the echoing / multiple audio playbacks seem to compound.
Professional :: Timing To Start Audio / Video In Flash
Mar 11, 2011I have a Flash animation that starts with an audio clip imported. When that's done it goes to a video. After that another audio clip plays, but I can't get it to start when it's supposed to. It keeps coming in too early even though its keyframe is after the movie ends. In fact I had to move the audio's keyframe about 1500 frames past where it should be to get it to come in at the right time. My Flash movie is 24 FPS. The .mov file being referenced in the FLVPlayback is 23.98 FPS. What's going on here?

Apr 5, 2010I want to add tracking to our Flash-based media player so that we can provide analytics that show what sections of videos are being watched (at the moment, we just register a view when a video starts playing)
For example, if a viewer watches the first 30 seconds of a video and then clicks away to something else, we want the data to reflect that. Likewise, if someone watches the first 10 seconds, then scrubs the timeline to the last minute of the video and watches that, we want to register viewing on the parts watched and not the middle section.
My first thought was to collect up the viewing data in the player and send it all to the server at the end of a viewing session. Unfortunately, Flash does not seem to have an event that you can hook into when a viewer clicks away from the page the movie is on (probably a good thing - it would be open to abuse)
So, it looks like we're going to have to make regular requests to the server as the video is playing. This is obviously going to lead to a high volume of requests when there are large numbers of simultaneous viewers.
The simple approach of dumping all these 'heartbeat' events from clients to a database feels like it will quickly become unmanageable so I'm wondering whether I should be taking an approach where viewing sessions are cached in memory and flushed to database when they become inactive (based on a timeout). That way, the data could be stored as time spans rather than individual heartbeats.

Jun 12, 2009I have a flash file which I have created, and when viewing the flash in a web page, it works fine in chrome/firefox, but in IE, the flash will only load correctly once. If you hit refresh, or navigate to another page and then go back to the page with the flash on it, the flash will freeze up at 0% of the load bar. This happens 100% everytime, but only in IE. Zero problems in other browsers.

Jul 6, 2010I had that 'Access denied' error message whenever I tried to access help within Flash CS5 (that's pretty bad). I searched for far too long and found the obscure solution.
During the process I decided it might be safer to access the online help from my browser in the meantime. But with the problem solved I want to switch back to viewing the content through the Flash IDE.

So I play the video, and pause it to try and synchronize the audio. The video stops, but the audio keeps playing, and it will not stop until the whole thing has played. If I try to start from the beginning again and play the audio to sort of override it, it just overlaps with the original audio, and the resulting noise gives me a headache. I am aware of the microphone class and the method to capture recording from them to a byte-array, I am wondering, however, if there is a way to capture another source of audio, say, from an output on an external sound card.
Is anyone aware of an AS3 method of capturing sound from an output?
Media Server :: Fms 3.5.2 - Video / Audio Streaming Application - Audio Stops Or Lags Behind
Aug 25, 2009I ran a simple live video streaming application for the first time with actual users and ran into a couple of serious performance issues that had not turned up during testing. In this instance there was one video stream from a live web cam and used FMLE at 150 kbps using VP6 and MP3 @22k. There were 16 clients and everything worked pretty good for about 30 minutes. (although some clients said their audio and video were out of sync by up to 3 seconds)
Then individual clients would have either the video freeze or the video would continue and the audio would stop. These clints had to "disconnect" and then "connect" again to the application. This happened to all of the clients at one time or another for several minutes. I stopped and restarted the FMLE with progessively lower bandwidth settings down to 75 kbps but still clients were having the same issue.
I eventually stopped the FMLE and used the applications built in publisher at 45 kbps and that seemed to eliminate the freeze/dropping issue. But of course the video quality was very poor and some clients still reported that the audio was out of sync with the video. The server hosting the FMS application is a quad processor dell with lots of memory and network connectivity. The Flash Media Admin Console performance graph showed the total Bandwidth as 3 Mbps at maximum.
ActionScript 3.0 :: Microphone Input>Delay 3 Seconds>Audio Output?
Dec 2, 2009Basically I want to recreate a sound installation that I made a couple of months ago which used Logic Express and a Tape Delay effect to take ambient sound captured by a mic, delay its output by 3 seconds, and then play it into the headphones. All without recording anything and in realtime.I've basically got this far, which lets me hear the mic input through my headphones loud and clear. Now all I want to do is apply a 3 second delay to the input before it outputs. Do I have to send the audio to a buffer where it can be constantly stored and rewritten?
