Professional :: Notebook Shuts Down When Using Flash-based Applications On FB?

A few minutes after I log in several facebook flash-based applications (Cafe World, Treasure Isle, Frontier Ville) my pc shuts down. This has not always been the case, only in the couple past weeks. At first I thought my notebook was overheating...but how can a flash-based game overheat a pc in less than 5 minutes? I was a bit perplexed since ZyngaPoker (another flash-based app) causes no problems even if I play for an hour straight but then again I turned my notebook one morning after leaving it idle for 12 hours and went directly to one of the aforementioned apps. 3 mins and.. BAM. I have a good pc, always use Chrome and good software (such as CCleaner, Deffragler, SpeedFan etc).

Everytime I start Flash on Acer Laptop Windows XP SP3 it shuts down. It used to run smoothly before. It only happens since I updatet Flash Player.Do you have any idea what's wrong?

I'm having trouble with building iOS applications in flash. I just bought an iPad and want to start building apps for it. I hav done simple apps for iPhone before but nothing too fancy. The problem is, I can build it and compile it fine but when I try to install on my device it comes up with the error saying:
"ITunes: 'APPNAME' failed to install." I can compile it as an iPhone app and it works fine. I'm pretty sure I've got my provisioning right because I have both my iPhone and iPad devices added. Anyone got any ideas of why my apps only work while I compile them as iPhone apps?

Specific to Flash Professional CS5. With its export options greatly reduced, there seems to be no way to make Flash graphics accessible by other programs. Is there any workaround?Currently, Flash can output two kinds of vector images: SWF and FXG, neither of which seem to be importable by most applications, including Fireworks and Illustrator (which write to FXG but not read from it), and Catalyst doesn't seem to write to anything other than what Builder uses. In other words, I know no way to export Flash files to vector formats (besides using Flash CS4).

I'm trying to develop a website in flash where the main content will be delivered as "pages" in a spiral bound notebook. In simplist terms, i want to have the image of a spiral bound notebook with "tabs" on the side that will "flip" to the selected page. When it flips, the page on top will "flip around" just like if you were holding a spiral bound notebook. that will reveal the requested "page" where each "page" contains a text box that gets its content from an external html file.
the part that i really need help with on is the page flipping. i have searched everywhere, but can only find "catalog" style flipping - which i dont want. i want only 1 page to be shown at a time with the "rest" laying underneath.

I need to run a webservice from a webpage that is based on swf, the webpage is hosted localy on the same computer with the webservice, and is browsed from remote computers. I wanted to knoe thw proccess that runs on the page, if the page is run localy and localy it runs proccess of the swf or is loaded to the browser amd from there it performs opperations.

I just discovered impure.com and was very impressed by what can be achieved in terms of visualizing data using their workspace. Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. This causes a few problems because the API section works with .com sites for eg. for ebay, so I cannot visualize ebay listings for regional sites such as ebay.in because the link to ebay.com is hardcoded.I searched around, but didn't find other projects that offer a similar way to work with site APIs and other data sources with the kind of user interface and detail that impure.com does in a realtime way within a browser window.This brings me to the questions:

-What are the open source tools that can help develop a fullscreen UI to render the workspace. Are there any alternatives to flash for this, and how do they compare
The goal would be to use standard python data structures, python scripts to do some processing on these data structures, scripts to gather data from csv, json and API sources such as google yahoo, wikipedia and flickr, and scripts to render graphs, tag clouds, network visualizations etc. Then bring them all together into a visual interface that supports drag drop and simple type checking.How would the python backend integrate with the UI.

I am asking this question because i have herd 5 different answers from friends and web designers about where the CS5 Goodies Fonts go from the purchase CD's. I have them in a folder now, should I store them in the system folder or copy them to the programs directory for each application. Is there a way to put them in a folder so that "all adobe applications" can utalize them for production and publishing.

converting my swf to exe and app. I know that there are several options available. My application will be frequently updated so update feature is essentions for me.
p.s. As another option, I can make app and exe out of a loader app that will load main application module every time it is updated.
my main concern is about build in update feature inside projector eg. Mac app will be able to check for new version of my app automatically...

When I'm making projects with Flex (or Flash Builer) the end result usually performs much better than a similar level project made with the Flash authoring tool. I know Flash IDE is rather for animations and design heavy works so you can't really compare these 2 tools, but this question is bugging me for a long time.If apps made with Flex (or Flash Builder) are really faster and less CPU intensive - why is that?

What would be the best way to secure .net web services used by a flex application (both desktop and browser) that requires login? From what i have googled out so far, it seems that we will have to host the flash file(swf) in a website and load the html page in the application in a webview... Is'nt there any other way to do it ?? Is there any library or something to integrate them ? Flash lite ?

I saw this program 'asap' (i think it's called, will try and get more info about it) but it's flash that uses the Flash player settings screen to setup a way of capturing the users desktop or any application currently running.
How can this be done? I thought that the only limitation in flash is to not interact with the users machine (writing files etc) because this is a security risk.

I've been trying to use the following paradigm to dynamically load images into a Flash application:

This is the tried and true method and works everywhere except if I compile the application into an ipa file for iOS devices.
What's the best practice for dynamically loading images in Flash applications that will target iOS as well?

I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
