Professional :: Stage Size For A Flash Website?

Jul 12, 2010

I am taking a beginners Flash course and our final project is to create a movie/website in Flash. 100% Flash based. In a previous course, I made an HTML site. For this project, I am recreating that website in Flash. But what should the stage size be? That is where I am stuck. I don't know what a normal Flash site size should be to fit the screen like a normal HTML site.I already know to havethe dimentions set to 100% and 100%. But for some reason, when I use Control > Test movie, it never seems to fit right. It's either crunched together to much or spread out to far to where the header and footer are partially off the screen. I've seen posts on the web from years ago that said 950x550 is the size needed. Is that still the case? Because it just doesn't look right. With HTML the page height would adjust to the content and it would automatically scroll if needed. But Flash doesn't seem to do that. It seems that you are stuck with 1 size and you have to work around it.

Flash :: Professional - Stage Size Limit To SC3?

Jul 4, 2011

I am not a Flash user and would like some information as a client. I have some problems with my service provider and wanted to verify his claims regarding the software.

1. Is there a stage size limit to flash SC3 and what is it?

2. Is it possible that the software crashes because of the data added to it (pictures and vectors)? Or dose the crash is happening from insufficient computer resources?

3. Dose a 1027X768 stage require a substantial amount of computer resources? And is a 4 year old 17" mac book pro might crash repeatedly if such data is applied to it? I understand that these are not the general questions asked in this forum

ActionScript 3.0 :: Get An Object To Increase In Size The Lower It Goes Down The Stage And Decrease In Size The High It Moves Up The Stage?

Dec 29, 2009

I'm trying to get an object to increase in size the lower it goes down the stage, and decrease in size the high it moves up the stage.

It only needs to increase or decrease by a small amount. Basically, it's for a game character. To ad realism to his movements, it would be nice to have this feature.

This is where i'm up to so far:

Code:
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;

[code]....

I think I need something like:

if (object moves up)
decrease
else if (object moves down)
increase

Professional :: Area Outside Of Stage Shows Up On Website?

Apr 29, 2010

I was at a friend's house and wanted to show him our website.  When I navigated to it, about 10% of the area outside of the stage was visible.  It was almost as if the swf had been shrunk by 10%, but still within the stage area (750px x 600px).  I'm not sure what's causing it, but I've seen it happen once before with a computer here at our office.

It always seems to happen with Internet Explorer.  When we right-clicked on the swf and choose "show all" it filled the area and looked normal.  I've never encoutered the problem using Firefox and only some of the time when using Internet Explorer.  Not sure if it just happens with a certain version of IE or what.[URL]..

Professional :: Increasing Editing Stage Size?

May 30, 2011

I am creating a platform game that is 800 by 600 dimension where the camera scrolls with the player. The problem i am having is that if i want to draw a map that goes off screen the stage are that i can edit in can only go so far when i am creating the map however i drag an object further than the edge of the editing space i can see it when the camera scrolls over to it in game but when i do this i cannot easily edit the objects that are not in view in the editing window. I can slightly increase the size of the editing window by changing the dimensions of the game to 2880 by 600 editing and then changing back to 800 by 600 but still i can only enlarge it up to 2880 because that is the maximum. Is there any way i can edit very large objects like a map that are way bigger than the stage dimensions?

Professional :: Scale Entire Contents Of Stage Down In Size ?

Jun 28, 2010

Can a finished flash file be resized.

Stage is at 1684 x 1322 animated map operated by buttons in a static key located outside of map border, all on stage. Map also pans/zooms.

Two scenarios:-

1) resize stage and all contents down to a different size.

2) resize the animated map down but more so than the static key (sits outside the map) which should remain readable.

Professional :: Motion Presets, Stage Size, And Defaults?

Feb 10, 2012

I put a motion preset (zoom in 3D) on a movie symbol instance. It worked great--it zoomed in well, and the instance stayed at the center of the stage for the whole animation, which is what I wanted.

I realized that I needed to change the stage size, for reasons I won't go into.I converted the stage measurement from pixels to inches, and resized it.Of course, all my graphics and instances were now off-center. In realigning and resizing everything, I discovered that my instance with the motion preset was no longer staying centered on the stage. It now travels in a right diagonal down to the bottom right corner of the stage when played. In fact, now anytime I use that particular preset on anything, in this file and in new ones, the same thing happens. It's like the preset has changed permanently on my computer and won't go back to the default.

I've tried editing the path frame by frame, but that makes a mess. I've tried using the subselection tool to edit the path, but that's imprecise and not working well.As an aside, I loaded this particular file onto another laptop here at work that has Flash Pro too. Before I opened my file on this new computer, that motion preset worked fine. Now that I've opened this file in the new computer, that preset is messed up, even when I start a new file.

Professional :: Build A Flash That Auto-adjust Its Size To The Browser Window Size?

Jun 8, 2010

I am trying to build a flash that auto-adjust its size to the browser window size, while leaving the content of the flash itself top-centered in the screen.I have found this solution [URL].. on How to keep centered stuff in this exact case so i am pretty confident i will be able to adjust that script to do what i want.

Now my problem is that if i put my content inside the movie-clip (centerrectangle) with all the animation require, link and other stuff, the movieclip (center rectangle ) never have the exact same center, thus making the script go wild trying to always adjust the location to the variable size of the movie clip.

Professional :: Ecard Suggested Stage Size - What Optimal Pixel Dimensions Would Be For Ecards To Run On Multiple Platforms

Feb 15, 2011

I have one that's almost done and the stage size is 700x800 px. But I'm starting to worry if that's going to look too small? To change it, will be a lot of work - there's animation, imported Jpegs etc. As far as I can tell, in order for it to look correct in larger dimensions I will need to basically create it again from the ground up. So, I'd really like to get an idea of what the optimal pixel dimensions would be for ecards to run on multiple platforms.

I really want to do this and I don't feel like I can move ahead until I get the viewing size correct. I don't even mind redoing the card. I just want my future cards to be the correct size. I don't want to have to come back and redo them all. By the way, the cards are being made in Flash. The site itself will be created in DreamWeaver.

Flash 9 :: Imported Image Size Incorrect On Stage?

Nov 7, 2008

I've had this annoying problem since CS1 and persists through CS3. If i import an image (either to stage or to library then placed on stage) the pixel size reported in the properties box is smaller by a very small amount. For example, I just dropped a 1005x650 PNG on the stage. The properties box shows this as w[1004.8] h[649.9]. The file is 72ppi in photoshop. Zooming in confirms that the image is shrunk slightly. In this case, the image was same size as the stage and I could see the white background showing through on the right edge of the graphic. It means that everytime i put a bitmap graphic on the stage, I have to correct the w and h in the properties box.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution? Does it occur in CS4?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Maximum Stage And Sprite Size?

Oct 29, 2011

I'm making an action game and I'd like to know what should be the maximum size of the stage (mine is 660 x 500).Also I'd like to know how big a game-sprite should be. Currently my biggest sprites have a size of 128 x 128 and I read somewhere on the internet that you should not make it bigger because of performance issues. If you want to make e.g. big explosions with shockwaves even 128 x 128 does not look very big. What's the maximum size I can definitely use for sprites?
