I'm developing some AS3 that will end up in a mac projector (.app). This app will stream 1080p videos from the local disk. What is the best codec for fluid videos? (no hiccups, fast start, etc) Is there any special setting I have to consider in the code or in the publish settings?
View 1 RepliesRight now I am working on an AIR 3.2 application which lets you stream a video to a Flash Media Server and saves it on a hard drive.This sequence works fine with the standard Sorenson codec but I want to use H.264 for my videos. I found lots example c ode and implemented it in my code, but when I record a video of myself I am unable to re-watch it afterwards.I found how to implement a H.264 encoding in a realeyes blog post here. My code is here.It saves the video as a .f4v file, but my browser (I've tried the latest versions of both Chrome and Firefox, with the latest Flash) and also VLC are unable to load the video. I also used a program called Movie Player which is able to open the file but can only show the first frame and the audio. Neither am I able to upload the video to YouTube because they do not support the file extension.Here is an example video file it saved: H264Test1.f4v.My question is: How do I stream and save the movie with a file extension that I am able to re-watch while using the H.264 codec?
View 1 RepliesI am using FMS 3.5 and Flash CS3 (though using action script 2 at the mo)What I have is a simple program that records a webcam and saves the result as an FLV. - Note, I am doing all this locally, NOT over the internet or a local server. FMS is on the same PC as the program.
1) The frames per second does not seem to be fixing to 25fps, but instead seems to be around 15fps depending upon which pc I use. I'm using: cam.setMode( 320, 240, 25 ); to set the size and frame rate in flash.
2) When I get the properties for the resulting flv, it says it is using h.263 codec. Is there a way to change the codec that is used (to say h.264)? Or is this dependent on the version of flash used? ie. would creating it in flash 9 using AS3 give a better quality result?
I learned from some previous post that the default encoding format used when you publish the camera from a Flash player is Soreson. I'm wondering whether it is possible to select to use other codec such as VP2 or H.264?

View 6 RepliesI've been sent a link to an FLV file that plays in the browser and when downloaded plays in Adobe Media Player.
However, when I try to import it into Flash, I get the error message
unsupported audio codec
It'll bring in the video no problem.
I've tried to use Adobe Media Encoder to convert the file but it doesn't see the audio either.
Is this some kind of protection on the audio? What am I missing?
I am currently looking into Flex and Liferay for delivering an RIA. We are replacing a rather large existing application built on an internal AJAX/Java library. For this, Flex seems to meet our needs for development but we've had a wrench thrown into the works. We need to integrate with another internal app that's been built on Liferay and JSF.
After looking into Liferay a bit I'm not convinced that it provides any benefits to our existing application since delivery via a portlet doesn't appear to have any inherent benefits other than achieving the integration with the other application. It also appears to have a number of downsides including smooth interaction between the swf and the rest of the page, hooking into Liferay's user management and their general lack of developer oriented documentation.
It seems to me Liferay is a good solution if you need an internal wiki/news/social application, but for delivery of a robust RIA it seems like we're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.
My question is this: Is Liferay used for delivering full RIA applications or is it a platform that's better suited to delivering smaller apps? Am I missing something about Liferay that makes it a good fit for RIA?
could you answer whether ScreenVideo codec (ID=3) is supported by latest FlashPlayer for DefineVideoStream/VideoFrame tags?

View 3 RepliesI use Red5 server 0.9.1 for live streaming from Adobe Flash player to my RTMP protocol transport.I test it with audio data captured from my microphone using flash application and for now transport recieves and recognizes audio packets. For further audio data listening I need to know what audio codec Flash player uses to send data to the Red5 server.Transport doesn't recieve any metadata packets with detailed information about media codec. All I know for now from "connect" message is that publishing side supports the set of audio and video codecs.

I'm using ffmpeg on Windows to create mp4 files for web distribution. As libfaac isn't available, I use libmp3lame to encode the audio tracks. The mp4 are played back with a falsh player (JWPlayer).I was wondering if there were any shortcomings to use mp3 instead of aac on certain devices?

I'm trying to create a flash video that will incorporate powerpoint-like slides along with video footage. So for instance I will have slide 1 (graphic) - slide 2 (video clip) - slide 3 (text). I have used CS4 before for one of my classes but that was a little while ago, and I feel like I'm starting over again. When I import the first graphic (.png), is there an option to have it resize to fit the stage?

View 4 RepliesI am currently working on a flash website that has several flv videos on it. Since the website layout has a slight tilt, I have had to transform the videos to slightly tilt as well. The problem that I am having is that when I do this the image becomes very pixelated and the edges of the video become jagged. I have somewhat fixed the edges issue by making a mask around it but i really dont know how to make the resolution better, or what causes it to loose resolution when slightly transformed. The size of the videos is the same as encoded. All I do is tilt them upwards on the right side a bit.
View 1 RepliesI'm porting in an .flv to Flash for the first time. I created the .flv from an .MP4 using Media Encoder CS5, and then opened a new Actionscript 3 .fla in Flash Professional CS5, clicked File > Import > Import Video. Then selected 'Load external video with playback component'. Everything seems to have imported fine, but when I publish the SWF and import it via Dreamweaver CS5 and preview the page, the video is there, but the controls are not. There's just a white box where the controls should be. Also, the video is out of sync with the audio, which I believe is a problem with Media Encoder, not Flash.

I'm currently working on a website design. The idea is a big chromakeyed interactive video in Flash. The size of the video is 1080 (width) x 1500 (height) pixels.I've exported the video in After Effects with the standard settings for flash (File>Export>Adobe Flash Player(SWF)). Now when I import the video in Flash and preview the file, the video plays in a slower speed and it's not playing smooth at all...Is the video too big? Is there a maximum video-size to keep the video running correct in Flash? Is it something else that causes this problem..?
View 5 RepliesWith the Flash Player that comes with CS3 and on my PC XP Pro laptop.I want the player controls to appear at the _bottom_ of the video not on top of the video and not under (behind) the video.
- my video is 640 x 480
- so I modified the "properties" tab at the bottom of the screen to 640x480... (it was 550x400)
- but that just makes everything larger when I click File > Publish
- and then look at the video in Internet Explorer... the Player Controls are still _On Top_ of the video.
I guess I need to learn how to
- Make the stage bigger
- Position the Player controls below the actual video

Can i embed two flash videos ontop each other, if how do i go about doing that. is it just a matter of indexing them or what.

Here's what I am trying to do: I am working on a flash site and I want it to start out with a bang so I've made a intro clip in After Effects in 1920x1080. I want this intro to start by you clicking a button. So when you first see the screen you are going to see the paused video (In my case the earth from outer space) and a big red button which you can click to start this video. Since I am working in 1080p I won't be able to use FLV so we are talking about the embeded video function. My problem: I want the video to stop or go to the next frame after playback it only loops as of now.

I have used a few of the wizards and have gotten some rough, very amateurish looking results, but at least they work. I owuld now like to create a more professional looking product that has a nice looking player skin, a thumbnail preview that is typically included, and some sort of "Click to Play" button.

export an animation sequence from flash to a video format. Looks like flash has Quicktime and Avi as options. However they both produce poor and jerky results. My animation is 750 by 545 pixels and running at 20fps - I have tried upping it to 25fps to see if it is a frame rate mismatch issue but similar rsults. For the record the anim plays perfectly as a swf. I have tried a third party swf to flv converter as flv is the format I desire but still jerky irregular playback
How can I get around this?
I'm trying to convert a WMV file into Flash. I know that this can be done using DW8's Flash Video Encoder ....but it seems this function is no longer availabe in CS5.
