Professional :: Building An Animation Like Background?

I am a graphic designer and I am relatively new to Flash and I would like to animate a background like this 3D simulation that triggers when clicking on any of the buttons below that I want to achieve,Should i use Swift 3D? what kind of action script does the programmer uses to acheive this effec?
I just created my first animation of a plant "growing up", following the tutorial here: http:[url]..... It worked wonders: I basically drew a few lines, transformed it to symbol, created a new mask and script layer, and just used a brush to cover a part of the image on every frame in order to give the illusion of appearance. However, I don't need a background, I just need to cut the animation and make it an independent SWF.
I want to make my animation have a transparent background instead of a blank background so that it can blend with my presentation. Is it possible to create the movie like this?
I am putting together a gallery that will show about 60 images. basic fade-in transitions between the images. I need to animate the company logo (very basic) and show some text below each image), becasue of this I dont know if any off the shelf xml based gallery will work? As usually you just define the image name/path and run the swf. This is for a presentation and not web so maybe not possible to be Xml based. Is there anything that is out there that could work for this and if not i suppose I am doing everything in flash but fear this as thimeline will be so long and a bit of a nightmare to do, if I have to do this in flash, I would have each image occupy about 20 frames 1-9 it will fade in, frame 10- a 10 sec pause, and frame 11-20 a fade out, that will still give me a timeline of 1200 approx.
I have converted a large background image (much larger than the stage) into a Movie Clip. I did this so I can make it scroll as the player traverses to the edge of the scene.This appears to make the player free to roam the entire background image.I have a tree symbol with a class attached to it that blocks player movement.Here is my problem:
When I drag and drop instances of the tree symbol onto the background, the trees are stationary and do not scroll with the background.I do not want to have to implement code to make the trees scroll when the background does.I was wondering if there was a way to simply attach the trees to the background so that if the background moves, the trees move with it and appear to be part of the background as if they were drawn into it.It is convenient for me to be able to drag and drop as many trees as i need to block certain routes on the background from the player.I tried writing code to make the trees move but it was only working for the very last tree that I added to the scene.
it's been a while since I used flash and i'm wondering what is the simplest way to create a visualization of a realistic 3d bulding with animations like window closing, door opening etc.I gues it's made in some 3d software and exported to .swf, but it sounds a bit complicated to create a 3d model in 3d studio export it in collada, import it with pv3d to have only a house with 3 quite simple moving elements.
Does anyone know where I could go and learn how-to build a gauge that will animate under certain conditions? Preferably in AS3. Not sure where to start on this one.
Building a webpage entirely in Flash??I have to admit that I really like flash.I am using it for about 2 years, but I am still not sure if building a webpage entirely in flash would bee a good idea. In HTML I can't achieve the same look, and feel, on the other hand sacrificing the look for functionality is the last thing I would do.
I've taken 32 pictures of an item, on a rotating plate. Then, I removed the background and kept the file in PSD. I imported to library in Flash then created the "picture animation" that shows the item rotating. I want to add button to control the rotation and I wish to add some SPAY area on some of the pictures so, when a user is looking at the item, rotates it at will, some areas will highlight and will provide the user with links to more information.Should I use Firework to set the areas ?then establish their relation in Flashr should I add links and compositions directly in Flash and build everything from there ?
I'm having trouble with building iOS applications in flash. I just bought an iPad and want to start building apps for it. I hav done simple apps for iPhone before but nothing too fancy. The problem is, I can build it and compile it fine but when I try to install on my device it comes up with the error saying:
"ITunes: 'APPNAME' failed to install." I can compile it as an iPhone app and it works fine. I'm pretty sure I've got my provisioning right because I have both my iPhone and iPad devices added. Anyone got any ideas of why my apps only work while I compile them as iPhone apps?
I'm trying to build a "product spotlight" area on my site's homepage. There are a lot of products, so I want to display them randomly, and I want to specify an image, link and text in the XML file.
I've started by using the XML gallery on kirupa.com, but that didn't quite do what I wanted. I found a little workaround when I found a random XML image loader on another site, and used that.. all it would load was an image, so to make the product photos be links and have special text I made each photo a .swf instead of .jpg file and added a button link over the whole image. This way works, but we are adding more and more products and it's becoming cumbersome. There will be about 50 different products randomly changing.
It would be perfect if we could just set up the xml like
<list> <product> <image>whatever.com/product1.jpg</image> <url>whatever.com/product.2htm</url> <title>Buy this now for $3.50</title> </product> <product> <image>whatever.com/product2.jpg</image> <url>whatever.com/product2.htm</url> <title>Buy this now for $4.50</title> </product></list>
And then the flash file would have the link on the top layer and pull the url from the xml file, bottom layer would load in the image, and in the middle we'd have the title, maybe I'd have it slide in with a basic tween or something like that. And then, there could be like 50 different images listed in the xml, and it would display one randomly for like 10 seconds, then fade into a new one, and just keep swapping it out forever and ever. I really want to do it this way because I can update the text or images without having to build a new .swf file every time something changes.I know how to do some regular basic flash stuff, but I never got into the hardcore actionscripting, so I'm kinda stumped. Anyone know how I can pull something like this off or know of freeware example that I can use and build off of?
Can Facebook apps be written in Flash CS3 or do I have to use Flex? I'm more comfortable with Flash, but it seems geared toward Flex.One of the Facebook SDK examples (FriendsList_flash) contains an FLA file but it won't load in Flash CS3. Does it require a new version or am I doing something wrong?
I'm willing to pay for referential help (ie answering questions when stuck) as I build a highly scalable flash 3D virtual office application/site.
I have some code background in HTML/ColdFusion/MySQL and I plan ideally to host on Google App Engine using their datastore as the backend and the OpenBlueDragon port of Coldfusion for GAE as the middle tier.
However I am struggling with flash and/or flex. Specifically while I've learned a great deal of AS3 concepts and FB component coding, all the 3D engine (lately Alternativa or Flare3D seem to have become the leaders) tutorials seem to be Flash based rather than FlashBuilder.
Moreover, I'm presently working through the Flash and PHP Bible (though trying to adapt the PHP to CF code) and can't find any resources describing how to connect Flash CS5 to Coldfusion (they all focus on FB4 and usually a wizard therein).
And finally given the scope of the intended project I recognize I will need a framework of some sort but transparently lack the expertise as yet to pick/implement one.
I've got Flash CS5.5 and am trying to build a sample Away3D 4 model viewer. I must not have the latest api for fp11, because the compiler comes back with this:
"Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: TextureBase"
The file "RendererBase.as" from the Away3D library is importing a number of files from the flash.display3D package (including TextureBase), which apparently I don't have.
I downloaded the latest debug version of flash player 11, what else do I have to do?
I'm creating a music player to be on my website and so far I have it set up as such: The player is contained in a movieclip with a 'song progress bar', a pause and a play button.The songs are played by clicking the song title in a list in the main stage (not contained in the player movie clip), which sends the music player to the frame in which the song starts.
My audio is set as event audio so that the play and pause buttons can be coded as play(); and stop(): respectively which will stop the main player movie clip thus yeilding the progress bar from moving further and the song from playing.
This works just fine, except for the following:
- When I select event as my audio type the quality reduces dramatically Having the audio files in my library and not obtained from some outside source (i.e on my website's server) causes the .fla file to be much larger as well as the .swf Being as my project is at 24 FPS and each song is represented in as many frames as it takesto play the song out, my music player at present has only 3 songs 'in it', and my frames in the movie clip are approaching 20,000 (this is VERY tedious to work with)
I'm sure there is a more efficient way of doing things, but my knowledge is limited. I'd imagine I can do something along the lines of loading .mp3's off of my website into the frame and the play pause buttons will enact more elaborate scripts that not only stop the progress bar but also stop the music from playing temporarily, or something like this. But I have no idea how to implement it
I have Flex Builder Professional Ver 3 (Built with Eclipse) version.
I need to build an application with charts. The problem is that there are no charting components to be seen. There is no datavisualization.swc file in the libs folder.

I want to make a little app, .swf, that has a bunch of buttons on them - each button corresponds to a string of text...
So let's say, the buttons are marked as "Rd" "St" "Ln" etc...
When they click on the button, I want it to add that listing to the dynamic field box so it will look something like this
*User clicks on Rd button and "ROAD" pops up in the dynamic text box - User then clicks the "Ln" buttons, and then the dynamic text box changes to "ROAD/LANE"
User decides they don't want to use road, so they click on "Rd" button again, and the dynamic box reads "LANE" - user then wants to add "st" so they click on the corresponding button and now the text field reads "LANE//ROAD"
I have created a movieclip button which is animated for all the states I need (up, over, out, etc.) it's made up of text, which is in a movie clip where I have my animations created (actions layer with AS3 script, my txt movieclip layer, my hit layer) and then that is inside a movie clip in my main scene.Is it possible to copy that button, so then change the text, Actionscript, instance name, etc?I tried copying the layer (by selecting the frames and copying frames, and pasting to new layer) but when I make any changes, it changes both copies!
ok lets say you create a button that when held down play an animation of 20 frames if realsed it goes to frame one and stops if held down it plays out this animation. for the topic lets say you have a fire animation and you want the fire to apear and if the user hold its down the animation reaches the end of the time line and loops back and plays the last 5 frames of the animation and as soon as it is let go it goes to and stops at frame one. Well i know how to make a button that when held down plays out an animation. And i know how to say when released goes to and stops at frame one. What i dont know how to do is to loop the fire at the last 5 or 6 frames so the user can hold it down all day long and play out that animation.
I have a certain set of motion twains that I've successfuly completed, they constantly loop right now (default), and is saved in the SWF file.I'd like to take that finished looping animation, and insert it within another animation (a) that can be played with a play button, and stopped/resetted with a stop button.How do I insert the completed looping animation into the main animation? And is there something special I have to do in the actionscript of the start and stop buttons so that the "inner" looping animation will start and stop with the "outer" main animation?
I want to make an interactive flash file, and the way I want to have it layed out is that a steady animation will play in one layer, while being able to jump around in frames with events such as a mouseover.I'm going to give a generic example, this isn't what I'm going to do, but it gets the point across.Theres a house and a tree. The leaves on the tree are falling, and upon mouseover of the house door, the door will open. Yet the leaves will remain falling (without skipping frames in the animation) while the door is still opening.How do you do this without using a goToAndPlay(x) or such that jumps the whole animation?
I'm trying to find out if there is a way to get an animation to stream in the background and not reset or change when there is a frame jump or scene change. I just want it to become the permanent background.Kind of the way a sound can be set to loop and stream non-stop so long as you don't go back to the frame in which the sound started.
I have an artist I'm paying to do animation art for me. I need PNGs for each frame in the animation but she is most comfortable doing her animations in Flash. It sounds like getting the frames for me will be difficult for her. She was able to do the still art we needed and give us that as a frame, but for some reason the animation is different? Keep in mind we need PNGs with full transparency support in the background. We can't be clipping these frames out by hand.
I found a tutorial online that showed me how to create a looping background animation (falling leaves) but the code is in Actionscript 2.0. I am in the process of trying to covert the code to Actionscript 3.0 but there are still a few things I'm having trouble with (i.e. setRGB, duplicateMovieClip, etc).
On a horizontal bar, text scrolls from left to right, continuously. The text is a fixed string of city names, and I've made it so that it loops nicely. This horizontal bar with scrolling text is part of a vertical animation, scrolling the bar in and out of view. The vertical tween starts after two seconds. When the vertical tween starts, the horizontal animation has started as well. At the beginning and end of the vertical tween, the horizontal tween starts over. I want it to continu.
I need to learn how feasible it is to automatically assemble Flash animations which take a background image, an animation (or a set of vector drawings that can be turned into an animation) and a sound file from a set of files. In other words, assume that I have the following set of files:
3 background images (let's assume JPG) 3 animations (no sound, no static background) 100 sound files (let's assume MP3)
So if I want to code something like: for i 1 to 3 for k 1 to 3 take animation i take background image k for j 1 to 100 take sound_file j resulting_swf = assemble (animation[i], background[i], sound_file[j]) save(resulting_swf)
Which will produce 900 Flash animations with different combinations of sound and background, what is the starting point? Are there some libraries (in Python, Perl, PHP, etc.) with good documentation and examples to develop something like that, some program that I can run from the command line?
I currently have 6 scenes in my current movie. It's going to be an online portfolio and each page is a section of the portfolio. However, I have an animated background (400 frames long) that I want to be played throughout the entire site. Of course, when I try and do this the animation resets every time the scene changes. The best I could do so far is to have it running on every page this way but like i said, it resets every time the scene changes. Is it possible to set this background to run smoothly through the portfolio without resetting?
