I am a 3D Designer and I also want to learn Flash. give me some links or books because I want to learn that code , which is behind the design. I don't know the terms, I think is actionscripting and I would like to learn from start . How to combine code with design. I can follow some tutorials and copy the code from those tutorials but like this I will never learn to make what I want.

am currently developing a mobile app for android, and i have been getting some code from some tutorials, and want to combine them. But the codes are all in packages, and i don't know how to combine them since i can't make more than one of them the document class.How can i unpackage them, or package them together.
View 1 RepliesI have a project which uses very similar code for I think 12 or 13 different movieclips. I actually copy-pasted a good chunk of the code changing words and numbers here and there.[code]The main point of this part of the project is that each movieclip is a selector on a scrollbar. I just wanted the selectors to look nice, so they tween up and down on rollover and when they are clicked they change from black and white to color. Also when clicked they move a very long movie clip called customizing_forms_mc, into view on the stage. The code is inside a movieclip that contains all the selectors. There is a layer for each selector and on that layer is the code for that selector. I was thinking that there might be a way to call a fuction perhaps with the variables that are brought to the function being strings that i could substitute in for the names of the movieclips. I tried attatching the fla or an swf but they are both too large. For a more detailed look at the code on the stage:[code]As I previously said there is a scroller with the selector buttons and when clicked they bring a certain part of another movieclip into view. Of course, everything is masked so it looks nice.

I was editing a very basic mobile Flex project, and after I debugged the master (application) mxml file, Design View stopped working (blank screen displayed, no Design View errors) for all files. Creating new projects, either mobile or else, or testing old, working projects, doesn't work either. Out of the related issues I've found info on, most concern earlier versions of the IDE, and deal with either Design View errors (got none), use of certain functions or custom components (I get the error even on a new project), or are solved by changing styles back-and-forth (tried already, to no avail).
I can't drag and drop components to the design area, either (a "prohibited" symbol appears and nothing happens when I drop); so I'm pretty sure it's not code-related or a bug, but probably something stupid, like a configuration issue, so I definitely need someone to take a fresh look at it.
I have 2 .flv files that I'd like to combine, no editing other than I want a sigle file so what were 2 sequences runs continuously as 1. Is there a way to do this (quickly) without having to re-encde? Easiest method: premiere or flash? or other utility that would join segments only?
View 2 RepliesI rarely use Flash so, when I do, I'm usually stumbling around in the dark. I've spent the last two days trying to find a method, script or something that would allow me to have a still image or still frame on a web page that the visitor could click to load an external Flash file. I don't want the external file to be loading on the page and slowing down the page load time when every visitor goes to the page. I only want it to load if the user clicks on the "Play" button.
It seems easy enough, but the external Flash file I have has a "loading" preloader movie that plays until the main movie is fully loaded. That's interfered with the function of some of the scripts I've found. Each movie piece--the still frame with button and the main movie with the preloader movie--works fine on its own. Combine them, and they don't work. Is there any script, method or example someone could point me to that would work? I'd really like to get something accomplished this week.
1. When I make a symbol, I find the reference point always appear on the upper left corner, is there a way I can change the position of that?(besides use javascript?)
2. When I make a animated graphic Symbol, I drag into scene, it always repeat itself so I have to change the instance property to non-loop. Is there a preference which I can preset all the instance to non-loop?
3. if I make 2 animation character in 2 different flash file, how can I combine the 2 files but still keep the layer and key for each character?
I am doing some academic research on Flash and I would like to find what is Flash the most used for, or what it is the best at, in designing web sites. I would need some quantitative figures, charts, stats to illustrate this research. I have found many websites presenting the Flash player penetration but I am looking at the actual use of Flash (in video, animation, User Interaction, ...). For example, "96% of the video on the web is displayed with Flash (3% JS, 1% HTML5 video tag, ...)" ; or "vector graphics are mostly created with Flash, rather with SVG or JS".
View 7 RepliesI'm trying to put together a Product Features Application, which allows visitors to our Website to view what their product will look like with add-on products via a simple checklist, and image layering platform. So essentially:
- Visitor see's the main Product (Fireplace) on Website Page- Visitor sees three Lists containing Checkboxes below the main image- Visitor clicks one checkbox from each list, and sees that ADD-ON product added to the main image above (so that they can view what the product will look like). I'm using CS4, and I'm slightly new to Flash.
I have a bit of graphical content inside a symbol that I've created in Flash CS5. Let's call it FunGraphics_Art, it's set to export, and it extends MovieClip.When I edit the symbol in Flash and I hit control-A, the properties panel tells me that all of the content has a height of 72 pixels, positioned at 0,0.The content consists of a few (classic) textfields, and a couple of Checkbox components and a few bits of vector art.All the content is on a single frame, no layers.So far, so good. I export my art as a .svc and am able to use it all in code just fine. However I then add the following bit of code to my .as file..[code]Somehow, there's something strange going on that's causing Flash to think my exported symbol is about 75 pixels higher than it actually is. I've looked around for invisible "blank" textfields, but haven't found anything yet.
View 2 RepliesI am looking to design and add an interactive flash part to our company's website. Since we do a lot of business planning and consulting, we have come up with a great idea, but unfortunately, none of us really know how to create it. Basically from what I have researched, I will need to incorporate animated buttons in a flash movie. I have attached a quick sketch of what the website will look like. The part I need to work with is the middle section with the boxes.
What I need to do is this:
The 5 gray boxes need to be buttons that link to their related pages. When the page loads, I want the animation to draw the first box, create the line, draw the second box, draw the next line, etc. until all the boxes and lines are drawn. This is a process map and since we do a lot of these for our work, we thought it would be nice for us to incorporate this into our website. Furthermore, it would be ideal if these boxes were links to different pages on the site as well.
So my question is this:
-What do I need to create in order to have this animation work
-Where is a good place to start looking in regards to creating something like this
-Is this even possible
I am trying to learn Flash Professional from the CS5 Design Premium programs. I have the Adobe CS5 Design Premium Digital Classroom to go along with the programs. One of the classroom projects is to add TLF text to your graphics. But it doesn't work. I can get the Classic Text to work but this is no use to other lessons when most refer to the TLF text. Even one lesson file you open has the completed work that you are to refer to and the text is not showing up in it. I have Windows 7, Flashplayer 10, and ActionScript 3.0.
View 6 RepliesI've recently picked up the opportunity to develop a simple little application for a company that makes cupcake wedding cakes. They want to be able to take a laptop to a client and sit with them to design the look of the cakes - colour, topping, etc. End result is a saved written preference, along with an image of their design. I've assumed Flash is the best bet for something like this. Although I've dabbled in Flash and have experience in coding, I've yet to pick it up fully. The version I have is Flash MX. I've assumed I could create a movieclip representing a single cake, that is then replicated over the stack of cakes? A simple set of options on a side panel would let the user pick colour, amount, etc. Firstly, will Flash (MX) let me save out a 'screengrab' of the movie as something that could then be saved to, say, a JPG? And I assume that writing the variable choices to something like a text file would be no problem..

View 8 RepliesIs there a possible issue in the way the button is made not coded? I am using Flash CS4. My buttons seem not to work. I do not think issue is in the action script (I am scripting in 3.0). Here is the way I make the button. I add a movie clip on the stage on the over state ( so if you were to double click on that movie clip a new time line would open), at the end of that movie clip there is a simple stop(); code on its own line. I do not add extra frame on the over state. Then I assign the code to the button and of course cross reference its name in the properties and everything is matching up. Just in case here is my code:

My flash design crashes! I published everytime I finished few steps. First few publications in html/ swf were okay, but after a few new steps the things all went wrong: the button went missing, the whole did not stop at frame1 as in my action script, some of the images went missing. I then deleted new steps hoping to get the thing back to normal, but it remained. After every futile effort I did (restarted pc, republished, saved as...), I suspected that there are BUGS whether in flash or in my pc, I did an experiment by simply creating a new layer and inserting an image in the layer, I published, and this time all the images has gone!
View 1 RepliesI'm not creating a application to create a business card. I'm creating a static design which I'll probably export as an image and take to a printer. I just feel most comfortable using Flash for this at this point.The design looks good in Flash CS5 but when I export it, it's too small.I measured a physical card as 87mm x 49mm so I made the stage that size, using millimeters.
I exported the design as a PNG, printed it, and it comes out as 66mm x 37mm - the correct proportions but it's about 75% of the size I want! I tried publishing the design and opened the HTML in a browser but it still comes out looking small.
I am new to Flash, and am working on developing an iOS app.I have my first basic app running.My question is, how do I change the style of my TextInput at design time?I see how to do it in code, but I am hoping that I wont have to have a bunch of extra code, justto set the styles of the inputs.
View 1 RepliesI have two components (lets call them A and B) which have normal inspectable properties (e.g. NAME and AGE) which allow you to enter values via the component inspector. When I type the value for NAME in component B (via the component inspector) I communicate via a singleton class and store this value in a NON INSPECTABLE property located in component When I run the movie, I want to access this non inspectable property within component A; however, it is always null - the value will not persist from design time to runtime. I check that the value is set at design time by tracing the A's non inspectable property once component B has set it - and it does indeed work, so I know component B has managed to set the correct value in A.
View 2 RepliesOn my old computer (Windows XP) I was using Flashpaper to convert jpg files to swf files that can be panned and zoomed. It worked great for my website. Here is an example. [URL] I just purchased Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium for my new computer (Windows 7). I was told that it included the ability of Flashpaper to create the pan/zoom swf files. I can't find this ability. Please tell me where it is located or that I need to purchase Flashpaper for my new computer. Please note, I use Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver, but the only Flash I use is the swf to pan and zoom via Flashpaper. Please keep this in mind when answering my question, i.e. I probably need specifics if the functionality is located in Flash.
View 1 RepliesI want to make a Flash app that will scroll text whilst music plays. The music part is easy, but scrolling the text...I've tried simply importing ALL of the text, resizing, and scrolling that one giant object upwards, but when the screen was full of text it began to slow down. I need the speed uniform to sync it with the music in the background.
I could have a 70,000,000,000 frame movie and move each element individually, avoiding the heavy load, but the amount of work on my end this would require would be so astronomical that it just wouldn't be worth it. Ideally I want something like a component that I can dump text into and have it deal with making the scroll speed uniform.
It would also be a major plus point if it could be used/created by another program, so that someone without Adobe Flash could produce a similiar kind of movie simply by putting in their text and MP3 file and hitting a "Generate" button.
I need to add delays between the following lines of code.

View 3 RepliesI created 2 separate swf files. One is a slideshow and the other is an interactive tool. I have have also converted these two files into a flash projector so as not to worry about plug ins that customer may or maynot have.I have another file right now which is the menu flash file that has buttons pointing it to the flash projector individual files. Since these are exe files, once the customer clicks on it, it will warn that it is potentially harmful and they have to click "run" in order for it to show.

What I'm trying to accomplish is twofold, one, I'm trying to reload a code on a particular frame like it is on frame one, without playing the entire swf from frame one, and two I would like to possibly be able to change a mouse event on the same button from one thing to another along a timeline, which would require the initial function be removed so it does not conflict/error with the other event.

View 7 RepliesI'm starting using the CS4 version of flash, and in my codes, every word is "missing" the last letter. It's not really missing, we just can't see it, or see only half of it. Did it ever happen to you? If so, how can I fix this?
