Professional :: Semi - Transparent Box That Can Execute Php Commands?
Feb 10, 2010
I am trying to find out if it is possible to a) create a semi transparent box in flash, b) motion tween that box into place, c) subsequently use it to run forms and PHP scripts (connect to a MySQL instance, ect). I know that an exact answer to c) will be long and complex, so a simple (general) yes or no will suffice... but if someone could point me in more detailed direction with a) and b), If you need to see the actual project I'm working on, or if I need to clarify my questions,
I've been developing in AS2 for a few years now, and I'm learning AS3 at the moment. I ran into a problem about setting alpha on a PNG image.
I have a movieclip that holds a semi-transparent PNG image which comes straight from the library. Now I want to edit the alpha property of the movieclip. In AS2 it all works fine but when I set the alpha property in AS3 all semi-transparent pixels in the PNG image will fill with black first; then the alpha setting is applied.
Do I need to save my PNG's in particular way or do I need to edit settings in Flash to display correctly?
Once I have a semitransparent object (with alpha not equal to 1) and put a glow filter on it, the glowing area is visible not only near edges of an object, but also under the object. It changes the whole look of an object, while it (probably by my logic) only should have changed the look of edges.
how to glow (or drop shadow) only edges of an object?
We have a web-framework with Flex and Java, whose basic functionality is to execute commands at the background(Unix) and parse and send it back to the client(Flex). This works fine for all silent commands.
We are using Runtime, process to execute commands at java side on request from flex side. The same we need to do for interactive commands/scripts as well.
I would like to execute a CMD command from my flex application programmatically. Something like
> mediaplayer.exe "mySong.mp3"
I also tried using fscommand but was not successful. While googling I learnt that its not supported by AIR. I would like to know if there is any other alternative for executing the commands.
im trying to make a text box in flash... soo when someone types something in one line and hits enter... the line gets executed... how do u do that?? and plus I want that text box to send commands to IRC basically how can i execute irc commands in flash....
I'm trying to make a modal pop up in my Flash application, not unlike the ASP.NET version seen here. I've already got the dialog box made, but I'm trying to add a semi-transparent gray rectangle over everything behind the pop-up, again like the one used in ASP.NET. Is there a way to do this in ActionScript? It needs to be semi-transparent, not fully, so you can still partially see what's behind it. I'm assuming you could apply this property to a Shape class somehow.
I'm a bit boggled by a MouseEvent/layering problem.
I have a filled Shape, with alpha 0.5, on top of a Sprite. The Sprite has various MouseEvent listeners attached to it.
I'd like the user to be able to click on the Sprite. Unfortunately, Flash doesn't pass the events to the Sprite. (It does, of course, if the shape is unfilled.)
Is there any way to tell Flash to treat this object like an unfilled object, rather than a filled one, for the purpose of MouseEvents?
Currently I have link on an HTML page, and when the link is clicked, it opens a flash movie with slideshow and a semi transparent black background. The way I have it set up is as follows
CloseButton.as (the close button for the slideshow) FullBackground.as (the black background) MainContent.as (loads the slideshow)
then I have
main.fla (loads the CloseBtn, FullBG, and MainContent) preloader.fla (loads the main.fla .swf)
Im doing a movieclip that is an empty square. On the first frame of the movieclip i have this empty square, and on the second i have a square with a cross in the center. What im trying to do is when i click on the square the cross happears, and when i click with the cross, this cross dissapears and the movieclip returns to the frame 1.

I've got 13 movieclips that all run a function (setNames) contained in a child object (namer) it contains. The function displays text in a dynamic text boxI've set them up with the instance names mark0 > mark12 so I can target them with a loop and array notation which is something I often use. But the loop sometimes doesn't work, however a list of 13 separate lines of code works fine. Am I overloading Flash with too much code commands at once, and is there a way around this? This doesn't work...
I am quite experienced in Photshop and other elements however I am an absolute novice when it comes to flash.
What I am trying to create is an effect for a logo in which the motif in a semi circle shape which i want to appear in a wipe fashion starting left to right so that in wipe across and the shape appears in full at the end.
The shape in a rainbow....this would also have the company name below the logo which would be visible from start to finish. I have attached the picture of the logo. I would like the gold pot to also appear in the swipe of the rainbow.
I imported a video into flash and have a transparent photoshop layer to create an iPod skin. The video works fine, but I cannot get the "stage" to be transparent so that you do not see the flash background color behind the iPod skin.
I've read in the forums and have followed the instructions here from Adobe. If you look at my code, I have
Using 10,3,162,29 on linux amd64, flash works perfectly on all sites apart from www.telegraph.co.uk whose videos are hosted by url... ooyala emailed me that they do not support linux. I believe flash would work if the telegraph were told how to script their html to execute flash. the flash video appears to load but then fails to execute. No error messages are displayed and no errors can be found on log files.I have seen several criticisms on the web on this issue and there is a consensus that it is adobe which is at fault. I believe in order to protect their reputation adobe will need to resolve this issue; I think it unlikely that the telegraph contract with ooyala allows them to ignore commonly used pc o/s's like linux. There is certainly little point in Adobe investing in linux flash if popular websites fail to provide adequate infrastructure.
I'm wanting to create a moving object that will be exported into a tv commercial. Object has already been created in Adobe Illustrator, and now will be dropped into flash for adding movement. The destination commercial will be created in Sony Vegas, with the settings of (Australian) PAL television (25 fps, 576x720 pixels, lower field first). Thus keeping it simple, I want to set Adobe flash with the same output format, meaning that the canvas will have to be 576x720 pixels at 25 fps. So far this seems to have worked okay. Now I'm wanting to get rid of the canvas colour, just like I have here in this photoshop screen shot.
Judging by the colour palette in Flash Professional, it looks like it can't be done. I've checked "transparent palette" through yahoo and google, and had no results. The adobe documentation only details how to remove a background in Photoshop.
I am trying to execute code if the mouse is on a certain position in the stage, but the code should stop as soon as the mouse is pressed and then start again as soon as the mouse is released. Here is my code:
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, mousePos); function mousePos( e:MouseEvent ):void{[code].........
I am trying to export these gifs with transparency and I am still getting the background with transparency selected in publish settings. Does anyone know a way to remove the background and just have a transparent gif?
When I place some codes in a keyframe, these codes are showing on all the following frames up till the next keyframe with codes. My question is, does Flash execute codes only in the keyframe or it execute whatever is in the frame regardless whether its a keyframe or not?
On the opening of the map where it shows a transparent red spreading would you create the growing red transparent area over the map in the Pacific with transparent shape tween. Also any tutorials on doing this.
I've read a Flash tutorial which states in order for your published swf. to have no background you have to:
File - Publish Settings - HTML tab - Windows Mode: Transparent Windowless - Publish
I have then exported the file as a swf. and mounted it in a HTML container expecting the Flash movie to have no background. This did not happen, there was a plain white background in the container instead.
I have a web site project created in Dreamweaver. On the home page I need a swf file that is transparent and will animate over the dreamweaver backgound.
I know how to do this with html, but im trying to use fash catalyst program which doesn't let me edit the html. i found this video saying to go to file, html, change the window to transparent, then click publish & okay & your good to go! But, after I click publish i get a pop-up saying applications & installer settings & it asks for a code signing certificate?
there is only one or two threads that come up post 2006 regarding this.I have a flash banner that I am using for a website, and I'd like the stage and background to be transparent so it shows the background (webpage background) gradient.
I know about the WMODE transparency, however, I'm not actually using an HTML file, rather and going to embed this SWF at the top of a wordpress site in the header, so I don't think that the WMODE really matters anyway.I can't believe that even in 2010 (ok almost 2011!) that Flash doesn't support transparency yet, but I've been proven wrong beforeThis is a super simple SWF.....not even any real navigation in it.
transparent gradient not importing as designed. I created a button in Illustrator and exported as SWF. When I imported into Flash, it is displaying improperly (flawed). What is the full-proof solution for this?
Really don't want to have to go the bitmap route or re-create directly in Flash.
