for most things such as movieclips you can set the regrstration point it is possible to set the regestration point for the stage.i want the centre to become x:0 and y:0.an AS3 command for this would work fine alternativly is there an AS3 command that automatically centers the choosen objectso instaed of having object.x = 30 you would have something allong the lines of object.x = center.
View 3 RepliesSo I've now realized that no mater what I do. my 3D vanishing point is relative to my stage coordinates and not my movieclip's coordinates. I'm trying to move my 3D movieclip from one point of the stage to another but with the strong perspective that I have, I do not want it to change. I would like to move it and preserve it's perspective and not change it's shape.

I'm having Huge problems because if two symbols are different sizes then I can't tell two objects to be in the same location.The workaround seems terrible. I have a guide layer for stage bounds. I'd have to duplicate that, add that to the objects that I'm going to want to convert to a symbol first, then remove it after it's converted. Is there anyway to automate any of that? That just seems like a terrible task to repeat over and over. I suppose one option is to have a blank symbol that is the correct size already, duplicate that in the library, rename it, put that on the stage, then put your objects in there. Wow, I'm not sure if that's better or worse!

View 7 RepliesI'm working with a few designers, each of whom have created 3D animations (using fp 10 capabilities) for use in the same flash application. Each 3D animation is a unique movieclip that will ultimately be part of the same .fla file.
The problem I'm having is that each of the movieclips was created in a separate .fla, and each .fla had different settings for the vanishing point for the stage. This means that after importing the various moveiclips into my library, none of the visual assets are aligned as they were in their source .flas.
The good news is that only one of these movieclips is displayed at a time, so I don't need to be able to have multiple vanishing points; all I need to do is change the global vanishing point programmatically at various points during runtime.
What should I do? I've tried accessing root.transform.perspectiveProjection.projectionCenter and dynamically assigning it new Point(x, y) values, but they don't seem to be having any effect on the 3D movieclips.
We have values generator that outputs someting like FF00FF5F. We have some coordinates like 50, 300. We want to draw on stage. (I mean we opened new .fla doc in flash, pressed f9 and started coding, sorry - I am new to flash)
View 1 RepliesI'd like to draw a furniture in Flash in actionscript. Actually It has done. My problem is the horizon point of the stage. The acceptable figure of the furniture is at that point where it hangs out from the stage. (size of the stage is 1024x768 and this point is 700, 600 so the furniure isn't in the centre of the stage.)
It's occured because flash draws for example a cube in the centre of the stage. So my question is that I can modify the horizon point of the stage - for example to the 0,0 point, because It would be the best for me - or not?
basically just wondering if its possible to scale an MC about the center of the stage as opposed to the top left of the MC? I thought about setting the X & Y as stage width / 2 + MC width / 2 but cant as the user needs to be able to move the MC which is much bigger than the stage and zoom in on a point in the center rather than just the center of the MC.
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to set the stage resize registration point to the top left rather than centre. I.e. when i set dimension (in publish settings) to 100% by 100%, when the browser is resized the stage width and height change to match it but the far left hand point is now in the negative figures and anything that was on the left hand side of the screen is moved towards the centre. Is there a way of setting where the stage resizes from so i don't have to update the position of the movieClips everytime stage is resized (which causes a slight juttering effect).

The movieclip is larger than the stage to begin with, and uses a slider component to slide back and forth. I'd like to be able to scale the movieclip using a button, but it currently uses it's own registration point (upper left corner) as the source.
Is there a way to force the scale to use the center of the stage?

View 2 RepliesWhat I have is actionscript which moves a movieclip from one point of the stage to another, using two buttons to trigger it - fwd_btn and rwd_btn. I also use a setInterval function, so that when you press one of the buttons, it pauses a second before moving. Unfortunately, if you press the fwd and rwd buttons in succession rapidly, the animation gets caught in a never-ending loop. Also, note that every time the user clicks a button, if the movieclip is right in the middle of animating across the stage, I wish it to stop and pause, not complete the animation and then pause.

View 1 RepliesI am moving movieclips around my stage in relation to the users mouse location. All of my movieclips have the registration point placed in the default top left corner. As an object moves off the stage to the left it suddenly disappears when the registration point reaches the edge of the stage. I would like to see the whole object move off the screen instead of just disappearing when the left corner reaches the edge. I would move the registration point to the right side but I would like the movieclip to be able to move off all sides of the stage (top, bottom, left, right)

I'm having a huge problem with my Flash file; here is what I'm trying to do and whats happening:
I have a scene where with a movie clip that is controlled by the keyboard, when it hit a certain point of the stage it opens a new scene where a certain animation should happen.
The problem is every time the animation hits that certain point the code I was using continues running and flash shows me an error message.

When I edit this movie clip all the coordinates for the various elements have really random values because the registration point is not set to the top left corner of the symbol but I can't find any way to change the registration point - nothing I've found online so far works.

View 21 RepliesI've been using the Adobe CS5 collection for nearly a year now but today is the first day I've decided to give Flash Professional a go.I'd tried creating a looping animation in Flash Catalyst but have had no luck at all (I'd followed a couple of suggestions such as using an flv movie as a timer but nothing seems to work for some reason), so I thought I would do it the proper way in Flash Professional.So far I have figured out how to import images, convert them to symbols,create a motion tween with key frames and do the animation. All this is good, but now I want the animation to jump back to a few seconds after the movie begins and play until the end,then jump back to that point again.Basically when the animation first starts it fades in for a half second or so,and went I want it to loop around I want this fade in missed out.

View 3 RepliesThis is giving me such a headache.I have a movie clip and it has a centered registration point but the transformation point is in the top left corner. I want both to be in the center of the MC. I want a little circle with cross-hairs in t in the middle of my MC, if at all possible without moving my MC. But I cannot get that damn cross-hair to budge from the top left corner! When I go into the info window and change the X-Y values of the transformation point, the whole MC just moves to a new position. The infuriating things is, I've done it before but I just can't seem to work out what I did. Please don't tell me to drag the registration point in free transform mode. I can do that, but I cannot drag the transformation point in the same way.
View 9 RepliesI have an object which is converted into a symbol. I double click on this object/symbol and it goes into its own seperate timeline. For my coding purposes I would like to know how to change the registration point of the symbol so it moves along or is addjustable on a symbols its own timeline so a can create animations on an objects timeline without screwing up my codeing because objects don't register when their moved away from the registration point the compiler still thinks that the registration point is where it was previously.

I messed up some the timing in some parts where there needs to be audio, and I don't want to go to the very back of the timeline and make all my frame sequences fit the audio that way. I want to select all the clips from one point on, drag them back until the audio fits, and then go to the next part the audio doest fit and do the same. Unfortunately, I've spent at least 20-30 minutes googling and trying different things in Flash that haven't worked.How can I select all the clips on the timeline before a certain point so that I can drag them all back a few seconds? (Without having to shift click all my clips, obviously).
