Professional :: 3D Vanishing Point Stage Vs Movieclip
Aug 11, 2011
So I've now realized that no mater what I do. my 3D vanishing point is relative to my stage coordinates and not my movieclip's coordinates. I'm trying to move my 3D movieclip from one point of the stage to another but with the strong perspective that I have, I do not want it to change. I would like to move it and preserve it's perspective and not change it's shape.
Is there any way, using Flash CS4, to change the vanishing point (ie projectionCenter) of a MovieClip? Or can Flash CS4 only adjust the stage's vanishing point? It seems that when I change it from inside a MovieClip it changes it on a global level, which is not what I want.
I've found I can use AS3 with PerspectiveProjection to change it at runtime, but I can't see the affect in Flash CS4 which makes doing the actual animation incredibly cumbersome.
I'm working with a few designers, each of whom have created 3D animations (using fp 10 capabilities) for use in the same flash application. Each 3D animation is a unique movieclip that will ultimately be part of the same .fla file.
The problem I'm having is that each of the movieclips was created in a separate .fla, and each .fla had different settings for the vanishing point for the stage. This means that after importing the various moveiclips into my library, none of the visual assets are aligned as they were in their source .flas.
The good news is that only one of these movieclips is displayed at a time, so I don't need to be able to have multiple vanishing points; all I need to do is change the global vanishing point programmatically at various points during runtime.
What should I do? I've tried accessing root.transform.perspectiveProjection.projectionCenter and dynamically assigning it new Point(x, y) values, but they don't seem to be having any effect on the 3D movieclips.
I created a 3d animation, put it in its own movieclip, and want to add two of them to the stage. Since they're in different locations, the animation looks different; I assume because the perspective registers around the stages vanishing point. I want both to look the exact same. The only solution I could think of was exporting the animation as an swf and importing that clip, and instantiating those seperately. The problem I am having with this is when I click import to library and choose the swf, nothing happens. There is no error, and no files are added to the library.
1. What am I doing wrong with the importing?
2. Is there a different/better way to make these multiple instances look the same in the final video?
I spend hours trying to figure out how to change the new Flash CS4 3D property, Vanishing Point, dynamically.
The VP is a Stage property, this point can simulate the perspective effects of the third dimension, where the objects will converge to as long as his Z property is increased.
one of my homework assignments for a begginer Actionscript/flash class. The goal of the assignment is to draw a shape then have it continuously drawn until it reaches the vanishing point in the center of the stage. I am pretty new to actionscript since this is the first class I have taken for it and I really dont know how to explain it better. I am trying to write the code for. This is the code I have so far it basically just draws the shape I am using and I am lost on what to do next:
I'm using the new 3D tool in flash to let pictures rotate around there center. To not let it look distorted I will have to adjust the vanishing points for these images separately, however I can't find an option to control them separately. The seem linked for all my 3D movieclips. This will result in having only 1 moviclip animated right. So the question is: how do I control the vanishing points for each movieclip separately?
I need some code thats going to move my movie clip to a certain point on the stage and then stop. Hopefully the code is attached to a keyframe and not to the movie clip itself.
for most things such as movieclips you can set the regrstration point it is possible to set the regestration point for the stage.i want the centre to become x:0 and y:0.an AS3 command for this would work fine alternativly is there an AS3 command that automatically centers the choosen objectso instaed of having object.x = 30 you would have something allong the lines of object.x = center.
What I have is actionscript which moves a movieclip from one point of the stage to another, using two buttons to trigger it - fwd_btn and rwd_btn. I also use a setInterval function, so that when you press one of the buttons, it pauses a second before moving. Unfortunately, if you press the fwd and rwd buttons in succession rapidly, the animation gets caught in a never-ending loop. Also, note that every time the user clicks a button, if the movieclip is right in the middle of animating across the stage, I wish it to stop and pause, not complete the animation and then pause.
I have a simple catching game with objects falling from the top of the screen and when they are caught at the bottom I want a movieclip to appear with +5 to show the point scoring. I have set up a timer to show the mc then to delete it when it finishes. It all works apart from the mc will not disappear once the timer is finished. I have thrown a trace statement in to check that it is firing and that shows up fine. What the hell am I doing wrong? Here is the section of code:
It's been a long time since I've done any work with actionscript, and alas I've forgotten nearly everything. I've tried to look for a tutorial that would explain basic animation with actionscript, but the one that I found on Kirupa was no longer there.
Basically I'd like to do this:On the stage I have a movieclip and I'd like the movieclip to move along the x-axis to a certain point and then back to the starting point again. The moving speed of the movieclip should also be adjustable.
On the main timeline in frame 1 var slideshow:Slideshow = new Slideshow();if (Object(slideshow)){trace("yes");}when the movie runs the trace works.
I have MovieClip which is on the stage from frame 1 onward the MovieClip on stage is a button which displays a dropdown menu when clicked the menu consist of other MovieClips one of the menu item MC's is set to run if (Object(root.slideshow)){trace("yes");}when I click I get this message:1119: Access of possibly undefined property slideshow through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObject.
CS5. 120fps bottom layer png of car, duration 120frames, top layer png of indicator lights duration 60 frames, run movie lights flash. Select both layers and go Modify>convert to symbol>movieClip. Copy the MC that appears in the library to a new blank file, make that file also 120fps. run movie see car but no lights flash. I have done no coding at all, does it need such to run. It has just what may be created when choosing new file. What I had been doing was putting this MC at the start of a bent line, snapping to the seed point, then 7 secs later (frame 840) placing it at the end of a bent line, snap etc.
Rotated it to match direction of line, created then a classic motion tween, then added a guide layer and put this line (edit copy>edit paste in place) onto that guidelayer at fr1. deleted the original line. Made the MC at fr1 orientToPath. Run Movie and it worked, but no indicators. Thinking the indicator function got screwed up somewhere, I did the test above. Obviously not the MC as a classic tween at fault. Something fundamentally basic I am expecting to work.
I am trying to load an external .swf (actually it is only an image that I published as a swf file, not a complicated movie) but I get errors. I am trying to load the .swf into a movieclip and the movieclip appears on the stage. I have put the code in frame 1 where the image should appear (in the movieclip). The code that I used is below and works fine with a .jpg and when I load it directly on the stage, that is to say, when I put the code in a frame on the stage. Why does it not 'work' right now?
I have added 'parent' in 'parent.event.target.content.y = 200;' in the first frame of the movieclip timeline, to make sure that it will appear on the (main)stage. The error that i get is this one: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at galerie2010_fla::mcBallon1_11/frame1()
This is the code in frame 1 in mcBallon1: var imageRequest1a:URLRequest = new URLRequest("images/SWFoverig/ballon1_702x368.swf"); var imageLoader1a:Loader = new Loader(); imageLoader1a.load(imageRequest1a); addChild(imageLoader1a); imageLoader1a.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete1a); function onComplete1a(event:Event):void{ parent.event.target.content.y = 200; parent.event.target.content.x = 205;}
I'm developing my first flash app. I'm trying to use classes because they'll be very important in my future app. I created a simple movieclip with a star. However, instead of putting it directly on the stage, I'm calling it from library, using the addChild method to place the star in the stage. To do that, I simple right click over the movieclip icon->properties->check export to action script->and I give a name to the class (for example: myMC)
Then, inside the class I wrote: package { import flash.display.*; import flash.events.*; public class myMC extends MovieClip { var star:myMC=new myMC(); public function myMC() { [Code] .....
As I am placing the two variables origin_x and origin_y inside the constructor, I'm expecting to get 250 and 200 respectively. After drop the star, I want to send it to it's original place, and that's why I need to keep this values. And here's the problem, origin_x and origin_y are both ZERO, instead of 250 and 200... The value is not relative to stage. I managed a little bit and I found this post : [URL]. Unfortunately I tried to replace by the suggested code, but both values remain zero. An interesting thing, is that if I put the star directly in the stage instead of calling it from the library as I am doing, I get correct values in origin_x and origin_y.
I am working with the web template located at the following URL: [URL] If you look you will see the "Contacts" page has a form with text (i.e. "Name", "Phone", "E-Mail", etc.) that vanishes when each text box is clicked. After editing the contact information above the form the effect was lost somehow.
I would like to take a straight line/rectangle that is already created on stage and tween it with as3 so that when mouse is down, i can drag and bend it into an ark shape, and when i release the shape snaps back to its originally form?
I have a horizontal scrolling movieclip that scrolls when the mouse is left or right of a certain point of that movieclip. However, it only moves slightly then stops when the cursor goes over it, it doesnt actually scroll normally...
Is there a better way to have a symbol's anchor point default to the size of the stage? I'm having Huge problems because if two symbols are different sizes then I can't tell two objects to be in the same location. The workaround seems terrible. I have a guide layer for stage bounds. I'd have to duplicate that, add that to the objects that I'm going to want to convert to a symbol first, then remove it after it's converted. Is there anyway to automate any of that? That just seems like a terrible task to repeat over and over. I suppose one option is to have a blank symbol that is the correct size already, duplicate that in the library, rename it, put that on the stage, then put your objects in there. Wow, I'm not sure if that's better or worse!
Im making a shirt designer application for a companys website, and I need flash to make a bitmap of the shirt using the 'BitmapData constructor'.This sounds easy. Create the bitmap, and use a loop to set all the pixels to the color behind it.But what functions can I use to find the color of a single point on the document?
We have values generator that outputs someting like FF00FF5F. We have some coordinates like 50, 300. We want to draw on stage. (I mean we opened new .fla doc in flash, pressed f9 and started coding, sorry - I am new to flash)
I'd like to draw a furniture in Flash in actionscript. Actually It has done. My problem is the horizon point of the stage. The acceptable figure of the furniture is at that point where it hangs out from the stage. (size of the stage is 1024x768 and this point is 700, 600 so the furniure isn't in the centre of the stage.)
It's occured because flash draws for example a cube in the centre of the stage. So my question is that I can modify the horizon point of the stage - for example to the 0,0 point, because It would be the best for me - or not?
basically just wondering if its possible to scale an MC about the center of the stage as opposed to the top left of the MC? I thought about setting the X & Y as stage width / 2 + MC width / 2 but cant as the user needs to be able to move the MC which is much bigger than the stage and zoom in on a point in the center rather than just the center of the MC.
Is there a way to set the stage resize registration point to the top left rather than centre. I.e. when i set dimension (in publish settings) to 100% by 100%, when the browser is resized the stage width and height change to match it but the far left hand point is now in the negative figures and anything that was on the left hand side of the screen is moved towards the centre. Is there a way of setting where the stage resizes from so i don't have to update the position of the movieClips everytime stage is resized (which causes a slight juttering effect).
I've done the tutorial that makes the box move across the screen, but i need to know how to make it stop at a certain point on the stage, can anyone tell me the code for this? This is the code I have so far:
I am trying to scale a movieclip with AS3, but always using the center of the stage as the registration point. The movieclip is larger than the stage to begin with, and uses a slider component to slide back and forth. I'd like to be able to scale the movieclip using a button, but it currently uses it's own registration point (upper left corner) as the source.
Is there a way to force the scale to use the center of the stage?
