View 4 RepliesI'm trying to figure out how I can make the sound file that I load into Flash start at x seconds and end at x+30 seconds.So basically, I just want a 30 second sample to play starting at a specific time position. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this or have links to somewhere I can read up on it?

I am creating a very simple file with 4 single frame scenes in Flash CS3. These are linked by simple arrow buttons. However, the movie doesn't stop on the keyframes even though I have put a stop script in each of the four. There is no other script involved so far. The stop script appears on the top of the actions panel on the actions layer. Please see JPEG screenshot attached. [URL].

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
this._x = Math.random()*2+90;
this._y = Math.random()*2+60;
this._alpha = Math.random()*30+50;
}
It is applied to the movie clip. I am having trouble figuring out how to STOP to action. I want it to stop after 10 seconds. How do I do this?
I want to stop my timeline for few seconds, how I can ???

View 3 RepliesI am trying to make a shooting game and I am using the Pistol as a movieclip but it just won't stop playing!
View 1 RepliesI am new to AS3 and am trying to work out how to stop a movie clip from playing on mouse click. At the moment I have created a movieclip which plays when the user clicks it, but I now want to be able to stop the movieclip if the user clicks on it again. At the moment I have the following code:
stop();bigTree_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClickplayAnimation);
function onClickplayAnimation(event:MouseEvent):void { bigTree_mc.play(); }
The tree animation plays fine, but i want to be able to stop it if the user clicks it again.
So i'm making this site where there are bottles floating in the ocean that are nested buttons so i can have them sway as well as have a mask on the bottoms.When u click a button all bottles should move to the left side and eventually the content will appear.I've added a trace for debugging purposes ... for some reason the buttons only work a few times.[code]

However, I need all the clips to either stop or fade out after 30 seconds.
It seems like I've tried quite a few methods of stopping all clips, due to the instances in the loop, but sigh, nothing works.
The following code for starting an event is quite okay. But how can I stop it after 10 seconds as it won't require anymore after 10 seconds of animation. I am using actionscript 3.
Code:
var timer:Timer = new Timer(1000, 1);
timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER_COMPLETE, onTimerComplete);

I am trying to get a Flash movie I created to stop looping in my browser AFTER loading it into Dreamweaver. Here's what I've tried:
a) Place an AS3 "Stop();" at the end of the action script for the file (in Flash CS4).
b) Publish with "Loop" in HTML tab unchecked.
c) Open the tandem created .html file in my browser (Firefox)......and the movie plays then stops as hoped
d) Open Dreamweaver CS4
e) Import the swf file into a blank HTML page and Save the file.
f) Test the document in my browser. Movie plays, but the movie continues to loop.
as mentioned above, how can I stop the movie from looping after it's embedded in my web page in Dreamweaver? Is this a Dreamweaver 'problem' rather than a Flash one? The DW help file says to use Flash to control the loop....
I have a CS5 FLA file with AS 3.0 with the following code for the preloader:
var pct_load:int = Math.round(framesLoaded/totalFrames*100);
if (pct_load == 100) {
play();
[Code]....
The preloader is in the first four frames -- it's just the background photo, a graphic logo, and the loading numeral text.
Everything runs great the first time it's loaded; then if you refresh the page, the graphics in the first four preloader frames flash on the screen before the movie plays.
I have an FLV video loaded as an "external video with play back component" in my Flash site. It works pretty well, even loads fast regardless its 15MB size. The video located on its labeled section which has an "X" button which closes this section and brings a user back to the page with all the video sections. However once the labeled section with the video is closed the sound is still playing.Does any one know how to make it stop if the section with the video has been exited?Then go to HOW TO section and click on the link "here" for "The Arrangement" show it will bring you to the section with the video loaded as an "external video with play back component" in my Flash site.
View 4 Repliesi have an animated title that i would add some blood to roll across the title (as a flash movie clip) and then stop at a certain point - Forever!
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,myFunction);function myFunction(event:Event) { blood_mc.play(); blood_mc.gotoAndStop(20);}
This is what i have so far but the blood does not play then stop/pause when the blood reaches the bottom point of the title ( like its meant to) just the end frame of the blood on the title is displayed - no movement can this be done.
I can't get the movie clips to stop and start in this file. I used the code snippents but it didn't work. In fact after the first movie clip the rest of the movie won't play... It just stops there and loops the first movie clip. I can't seem to attach the flv and the action script files here in the forum... But you can download the fla file here:[URL]
View 1 RepliesI understand that in order to make it consume less CPU cycles flash player forces the player to only execute at 2fps (or some other ridiculously low amount) when the swf is no longer in focus (or even if it's still "in focus" but not being rendered to the screen by virtue of being in a section of the browser window that's scrolled offscreen.) Is there any possible way to change this? I have a 3D engine that needs to keep the FR up.
View 7 RepliesI have a .swf that loads into a movie clip in a Flash website. The .swf has all necessary stops to play once and stop once loaded. When tested outside of the movie clip, it does what it should, but once loaded, it loops forever and the speed is faster. How do I make this stop looping? (This only happenes to .swf that were made in CS4, doesn't happen with older .swfs that were made in Macromedia)
View 10 RepliesI have a home page and five other pages. The five pages have a main menu at the top containing buttons that allow you to go to the other pages:
on(release){
gotoAndPlay("gallery");
}
I have an actions layer. Each section has the following action in the first frame: stop(); When I view the website the home page works correctly. However, any page with the main menu automatically switches to the next page after about six seconds. The code seems pretty straightforward so I have no idea what I'm missing.

View 3 RepliesI am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.
View 4 RepliesIm attempting to make a preloader. I am very new to action script so this is what i have.
Code:
ifFrameLoaded ( "UC" ) {
gotoAndPlay ( "home" );
}
as simple as it gets, right? Wrong, the preloader works however is get this error 1087: Syntax error: extra characters found after end of program. The preloader it self works it plays and when the movie is loaded it begins the movie, however the movie doesnt stop at any of my stop commands and keeps looping through itself over and over again till i exit the window.
Using Flash CS3 and as2.
