SWF Showing As Unknown File On Computer?
Dec 1, 2009When swf file shows up on a computer as an unknown file, does that mean the computer doesn't have flash player? Or do I need to change my publish settings?

Jul 30, 2010a project needs to load a bunch of images of which at runtime only the filename, but not the filetype (ending) is known. so i need to load "thumb01" but i do not know if it is ".jpg" ".swf" or ".png" how i can i make sure it loads finally. shall i use the IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR Event to know that for instance "jpg" did not work and then try "png" and so on.

In the main MXML file there are 3 lines that return errors. IMPORT COM.TURBO.*I've never heard of this and I can't seem to find anything on it. I assume its some kind of plug-in. Sep 6, 2009I've been trying to format a text field using html in an xml file. So far it's been working fine but I tried to load an image to the text field and I got this error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type.
I figured I had my image in the wrong format (it was a jpg) so I tried png and gif with no results. Here's my xml file

Nov 10, 2009In my Flash application, I would like a user to be able to import a picture from their hard drive. Basically, the app allows the user to customize an object. One of the steps of customization should be to add an image of their choice.
Is there a way in Flash to allow the user to pick a file from their hard drive, which is then read into memory and made accessible to an application? I would like to take the data and upload it to a server to store it for future sessions.

Jul 13, 2011I would like to know if it's possible to edit a file from within the browser. I know where the file is and I know its format. I would like to some HTML5 and JavaScript but have little luck so don't mind using Flash or Java.
The file I would like to edit is the hosts file. C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetchosts on Windows XP.
This is mostly for test run of a new breed of AdBlocking so would like to give my browser and the best chance of working. I have Google Chrome Dev opened as ROOT, running on Windows XP.

Professional :: Performance Difference Of A Flash File Between Computer And Cd?
Mar 20, 2012I am working on this cd-rom and have just reached testing stage for part 1 (of 5). There are lots of interactive activities, video and animations. For the activities, I dont know if I am just too tired but there seems to be items which are visible on my .swf on my computer that sometimes are visible and sometimes are not visible on the cd-rom, also in testing yesterday there sere some activities that seemed to not be working correctly (Althought they perform fine on the desktop version, on a reset of the cd-rom they then seemed to work. Is there anything that I need to take into account for the code being read off a CD to make it more bullet proof? I am stressing out a bit at the Unknown factor- I cannot continue to produce this resource if I cannot guarantee how it will perform in real life?

The user generates a name by clicking on the letter buttons until the letters of the name have been spelled out and then clicking on abutton to add each name to the list. The names are generated inside the swf file but I want the list of names to be deposited in a file within a folder of the computer and remain there as a permanent record after the swf file has been closed. I can do the Actionscript 3 programming associated with the letter buttons but I would like to know how to send the names to the computer file.

Nov 23, 2009i am making flash web site with flah cs3 as3. everythig was perfect but nnow codes are getting crazy. there is a photo gallery that has little picture thumbnails on right and when one of them is clicked , that photo is loaded from out of swf and appear in big size on left. today as i was fixing last little things codes gave me errors..Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type.

Jul 12, 2009in Flex I'm able to load a Image into an Image component (mx:Image) via a URL and it will display it, however in Flash if I try to load the same image via URL I get an unknown file type error. If I browse to the URL in a broswer, I can view the image.
