I have a restricted editable textfield in flash like this:
oField.restrict = "0-9";
To capture changes I attach this listener:
oField.onChanged = function(){
trace(1);
};
Is there a listener to capture the event when a restricted character is entered (e.g. the event when the key "a" is pressed - the field does not change, so onChanged does not fire).
I've written a function that restricts user input to just numbers (0-9,.) and stores the input in the associative array, userInput[]. It works but seems inefficient looping through the entire input text string to scrub out invalid characters. Anyone have suggestions for a more efficient approach? Note that a working solution must correctly process mouse or cursor key movements/edits within the input box.
Also, you can see I'm using the KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP event to trigger the processing. The docs seem to indicate TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT is really the proper event for this purpose. I started with TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT but found the event is triggered before the last key pressed is actually added to the instance. The result is that the function was always one characterbehind. Is there an easy way to get the current text in the input box, including the last key pressed, when processing TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT?
I've got an input text and I want to add an event listener when up(or down) arrow is pressed. How can I make this work? input text has it's own -by default- listeners on up and down arrows.
What I want to do is when pressing up arrows focused in the input text to get previous messages and vice versa.
I have an rfid card reader setup through flash, for the time being I want to setup and event listener so that when the id # gets passed through a dynamic text field, it takes you to a new frame.
Any links that can show me these types of event listeners? Here is what I have now, the dymanic text field where the number comes through is "output".

Is there an event that is dispatched when a text input gets clicked (i.e. to add text), but not after text has been added, simply when it is clicked? It won't have changed, and text won't have been entered.

I'm trying to build a fahrenheit to celsius convertor in AS3. How can I test to see whether what is input into a text input box (flash component) is not a number? This isn't correct but you can get an idea of what i'm trying to do:

i have an one input text box, first i type text into it and press space bar at this it will become empty and ready to accept next input from starting position, i make the text box empty by
textbox.text = "";
but the cursor not set to initial position in text box it consider "" as "space" and cursor will display after one space only, i need that cursor again move to starting position..
is there any event dispatched in HTMLLoader class when any of the input text field is being selected inside the HTML? If yes how to track not onlyt the Event but the input field also?

When the user types something on the input box then the dynamic box changes instantly and displays what the user has written.

The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.

Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. This code corresponds to a quiz question where the correct answer is either blue or green. I get the #1009 error if I input "blue". The answer "green" seems to work ok. What's wrong with my code? Is there a better way to make is so more than one answer works? Something like "blue" or "green" or "otheranswer", etc..?
I have a movieclip (view_mc), I want to scale it in a restricted area.
I have made an IF statement,
when its width and height are less than the width and height of the restricted area, then do scale.
but when it reaches the width and height of the restricted area I can't scale it down.

I have 2 moveclip called view_mc and restricted and button called btn_scale.
When the user click and drag btn_scale, it resizes the view_mc where the width and height of view_mc dosen't exceed the width and height/2 of restricted area.
I made that. But when view_mc reaches the width and height/2 of restricted area, I can't resize view_mc to be samller. (The btn_scale looks like it's disables and can't use it)
I think some logic is missing. I highlighted the code that is missing some logic.

Is it possible to login through flash using one Dynamic Text Field and one Input Text Field and no buttons? If so how? I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with.
