Actionscript 3 :: 1D Multiple Peak Detection?

Sep 24, 2010

I am currently trying to implement basic speech recognition in AS3. I need this to be completely client side, as such I can't access powerful server-side speech recognition tools. The idea I had was to detect syllables in a word, and use that to determine the word spoken. I am aware that this will grealty limit the capacities for recognition, but I only need to recognize a few key words and I can make sure they all have a different number of syllables.

I am currently able to generate a 1D array of voice level for a spoken word, and I can clearly see, if I somehow draw it, that there are distinct peaks for the syllables in most of the cases. However, I am completely stuck as to how I would find out those peaks. I only really need the count, but I suppose that comes with finding them. At first I thought of grabbing a few maximum values and comparing them with the average of values but I had forgot about that peak that is bigger than the others and as such, all my "peaks" were located on one actual peak.

I stumbled onto some Matlab code that looks almost too short to be true, but I can't very that as I am unable to convert it to any language I know. I tried AS3 and C#. So I am wondering if you guys could start me on the right path or had any pseudo-code for peak detection?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Collision Detection Using Multiple Instances?

Jun 18, 2009

Here's the low down of what I have

- a hero in the middle of the screen who follows the mouse
- he can shoot bullets, so there are multiple instances of the BulletClass
- zombies spawn, so there are multiple instances of the ZombieClass

Where is the best place to put my collisions detection code, and how would I even start? I'm new to AS3 so there's no real code to show you, I just need some starting advice.

Would I have to add each name of the bullet and zombie instances into an array and check them against each other in every enterframe? that could get pretty big....

ActionScript 2.0 :: Multiple Object Collision Detection?

Feb 19, 2008

I read the tutorial about Multiple Object Collision Detection. What I want to do is have there be 3 circles and 3 squares. the circles are moving randomly while the squares are stationary. The actionscript would need to be checking to see whenever the moving circles collide with the stationary squares. However, it doesn't seem to be working. I followed the logic of the tutorial pretty closely, by making a separate list for the instance names. Here is the code for the collision detection.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Multiple Array Object Collision Detection?

Jun 23, 2009

I am creating a game where I have two separate arrays of objects that I need hitTested with each other. I found an old tutorial in AS2 that I modified to come up with this code:

ActionScript Code:
for (var w:Number = 0;w < enemyLaserArray.length;w++) {
for (var R:Number = 0;R < barricade1Array.length-1;R++) {
if (enemyLaserArray[w].hitTestObject(barricade1Array[R])) {

[code]....

This code executes like I believe it should, but along with removing the two objects, and splicing them from their arrays, I get this error

Code:
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.on the line hitTestObject line. I have had similar problems in other areas of my project, but this time no matter what I try using trace statements I cannot fathom quite what the problem is.

Flash :: Handle Collisions Detection With Multiple Instances Of One Movieclip?

Apr 27, 2010

I'm using Adobe Flash CS4.The language is Action Script 3In my library I have 2 items:playerwallthe player object is already functioning correctly with moving him around.Now when I place multiple wall objects into the stage (wall = 32x32 px) I want to prevent the player from moving when he walks into a wall.I've tried giving all the walls the same instance name and just check for a collision with that object but when I do that the collision only works for 1 of the walls.I could give all the instances of wall a different collision script but this is way to time consuming, is there another way to globally define the wall as solid for the player?

Professional :: Mouse Zone Detection?

Mar 25, 2010

1- i have a circular menu, with a zoom effect when you hover on it, with the home button in the center, when you click the home button you load the page then reload the scene 1 ( menu idle ).If i put nothing on the button itself on the scene 1, before the zoom effect, i need to move out of the button to trigger the other scritp there that detect the rollover and start the zoom in.i want to have a special behavior for the home button on the idle state of the menu ( scene 1 ) , When you click the home button from anywhere else, you load back the page, then because the mouse is already on the home button, i want flash to do nothing, but at the second you start to move the mouse again ( remember you are still on the home button) i want it to start teh zoom effect again, not before.

Right now, it is either no zoom effect as soon the mouse is on top of it, or imediatly zoom in with the rollover....And i know it is possible with a very simple command, but i forgot it... i did it before.2- for the same menu, i will have a sub-menu unfolding when you click a certain button, that sub-menu is outside the main menu detection zone. Is it possible to make a shape, turn the alpha at 0, put it under the sub-menu, and use it as detection zone
