View 1 RepliesI have a grails application using jquery mobile. I am hoping to find some way to access the camera on the devices. I thought about using flash to grab the webcam but that obviously wont work on Apple devices. Does anyone know of a way to do it and keep it all browser based? I am hoping that there is a plugin somewhere or maybe html5 has some magic in there that supports it.

View 2 RepliesI am able to port much of my application from Flex 35 to Flex 4.0
Next is to show my current system Operating system name (XP Pro, Vista, Linux..etc) along with the service pack level of my system on which my application is running.
I am able to show uo OS name "Windows XP" using "Capabalities.os" in Flex4.0. but not "Professional" or "Pro" exactly. But I could not find an API for showing up the service pack level.
I have to display the content in a label. I tried with Capabilities.cpuArchitecture and System.vmversion, but it shows up some other system data.
I want to show up Service pack version.
How can i maintain DPI resolution calculation for various device and UI management for eg,iPhone having action bar at top/bottom , iPad app has control bar component instead.Is it possible to maintain application in SINGLE CODE BASE.

I am creating a sqlite database for my mobile app. once the user has supplied the correct password the database is opened. Various screens of the application will need to read and write data from the db. is there a way I can make the connection global when I open it, so it can be accessed from any view?
the code I am useing to open the DB is
var sqlConnection:SQLConnection = new SQLConnection();
sqlConnection.addEventListener(SQLEvent.OPEN,sqlOpenSuccess);
sqlConnection.open(DBFile, SQLMode.CREATE, false, 1024,null);
I'm sure this a common Actionscript method, but my websearch on how to do this is turning up no results.
Using MX 2004 I am trying to get the current value of the web address in which the swf is residing and have actions take place based on the HTTP locations.
ie;
var a:String = this.HTTPaddress;
var b:String = this.HTTPaddress;
(have certain actions take place based on above vars.)
I am working on a Flex 4.5 app tageting Android. In different views the app needs to load and display images which I have deployed as part of the app. Where do I put these images? And how do I load them? I am familiar with @Embed for images, but this doesn't seem to be the correct approach in this case. I also know how to load from the file system, but I really don't know how to include my images as part of the app for distribution.
View 1 RepliesThe existing site in cakephp with flash. We need to convert it into mobile version.
View 1 RepliesI have a website [URL]. I added a flash mp3 player that plays a sound clip when you go to the page. I know Flash doesn't work on the iPhone OS, but is there a way to get this type of mp3 player to work on an iPhone? I'm thinking maybe a javascript mp3 player. What I would ultimately want is to replace my flash mp3 player with a different mp3 player and have it so the player is available on Windows and Mac computers as well as iPhone devices.

how to use filters (specifically a glow filter) on a mobile devices (specifically the iPhone) when using GPU rendering and high resolution. At the time, there was no answer... filters were unsupported. Period.
I can report that I have gotten a color matrix filter for desaturation AND a glow filter working on the iPhone and the iPad using GPU rendering and high resolution.
The solution, in a nut shell is as follows:
1: Create your display object... ie: a sprite.2. Apply your filter to the sprite like you normally would.3. Create a new bitmapdata and then draw that display object into the bitmap data.4. Put the new bitmapdata into a bitmap and then put it on the stage or do what you want.
When you draw the display object into the bitmapdata, it will draw it WITH THE FILTER!So even if you put your display object onto the stage, the filter will not be visible, but the new bitmapdata will!
Here is a sample app I created and tested on the iphone and ipad

I'm writing a simple game based on my physics engine for Android (in Java). Because I want to play with some special graphic effects performance is very important for me. I read on the Internet that you can write an application in ActionScript3 and then just export it as an iPhone/iPad or Android application. That means, I wouldn't have to rewrite everything from Java to Objective-C if I wanted to make version also for iPhone. Do you have any experience with writing games in ActionScript3 for both Android and iPhone/iPad? Are there any significant advantages / disadvantages?
View 4 RepliesI'm interested in developing for the iPad and iPhone, but I'd prefer not to learn Apple's whole development stack (and good golly, I sure don't want to go back to manual memory management). Oh, sure, I could learn it, but I don't have that level of commitment to the environment at this point. I've got professional experience with Flex already, so I'm intrigued by Adobe's move to make Flash/Flex compile to the iPhone and iPad. My question is: how promising of a development path will Adobe's Slider be? Are we likely to see Slider publicly available in a reasonable timeframe (Adobe: "An early mobile branch of the Flex framework is expected to be available in 2010")? Are we likely to see reasonable performance? Are there development hurdles that haven't become clear yet? Heck, is it all just vaporware? There's pretty limited information available so far, as far as I've seen, but I'm interested in people's predictions, even if they're speculative.
View 6 RepliesI'm interested in building a thick client application for my existing web services that will run on the IPhone. Flash finally seems to be an option, so I thought about using Flex for client side development.
However, since flash apps are not natively supported by the IPhone, but only through a wrapper, I was wondering if these apps can persist any data. Data entered by the user should eventually be transmitted to the web service, but until then I want it to persist even if the Iphone should run out of power.
Is this possible? Or does the Iphone flash wrapper make it impossible to access the hard disk?
How to compile your flex (Flash Builder) application for Iph*ne Using Adobe Flash CS5? A User can Install an app having it as compiled binary?
View 1 Repliesi'm following Christian Cantrell guide for packaging AS3 application for iPhone, but i can't find a way to use the packager for creating an app for testing on device. I've tried with -target ipa-test and -target ipa-app-store but when i try to upload my app on the iPad, iTunes throws an error sayng that i'm not allowed.I've done a simple test using the Packager bundled width CS5 (with the same certificates) and everything gone right.
Is is possible to use CS5 Packager for Flex project ? (i know that flex isn't optimized for mobile)
1,It is the pre-release ,i can't find it now. 2,I can download the Flash Builder 4.5 but i want to know how to import the Burrito's project? and which lib or Flex Build Path must i add? I have built an app in Adobe Flex (4.5) and it works well on Android, but i need to test it on an iDevice. I have an iPhone 3GS available, and i have made a provisioning profile with it and certified it through the proper Apple channels, but trying to install the app to the phone through iTunes results in an error (the same one you get when trying to install non-market apps), and i can't find a way to import it into xCode.
NOTE: i developed the app on a PC in Flex, but have a MacBook Pro available for testing.
I would like to move (right or left according the current view) between 2 views when I move my finger on the mobile screen; for example with Google+ mobile application, in profil section, you can change the view just on move your finger on the screen, and the offset and the moving speed must be checked before change complete view.
View 2 RepliesI am a Flex developer. I wish to make flex applications for iphone. But, when I google up for the same, most of the link shows up that Adobe Flex and flash aren't supported on iphone.
Is this right ? Why it isn't supported ? If it is supported, which are the good books for developing iphone applications via flex.
I am flex programmer and newbie to iphone application development.I wanted to make a iphone appln using Flex 4.5, but can't find any good books/resources for it.
View 1 RepliesDoes flex mobile supports In-App purchases, push notification etc that can run on all supported mobile platforms (iOS, Android, Blackberry playbook).
View 2 RepliesI would not have asked the question if I owned an iphone, but so far I only have an android phone for development.
The question is: Should I use the View.viewMenuItems that are provided by flex mobile? Or should I better embed the functionality in another way? I don't know what possibilities might exist on iphone to open the menu, because it has no hardware button "menu".
By the way: How could I open the menu in the Flash-Builder mobile device emulator - there are no buttons, too..
