Actionscript 3 :: Disable Zooming / Scaling When Player Is Resized?

Oct 18, 2010

I am working on an application that uses raster images, so it only looks good at native resolution.

Is there a way to force the graphics to never be scaled?

Basically I want to know if there is a way to go from a zoomed in version of something, and then seeing the whole image in another frame. (By pressing a button)

Let's say there's a tree, I would bascially like (upon pressing a button which I can do) to zoom out and see the whole scenery. Is there a way I can do this without actually changing the size of the image?

Actionscript 3 :: Flash Zooming In (scaling Up) To A Specific Point Within A Clip

May 24, 2011

I'm trying to scale a container/parent movie clip up so that I effectively zoom in to a point referenced by one of its children. I've figured out how to use globalToLocal to get that point at the center of the stage, but the problem is the registration point for the container clip is (and needs to stay) at the upper left, so when I scale the container clip up, the point does not stay in the center of the screen. Here's my code:

Flex :: Flash Player In Chrome Is Not Updating Unless The Browser Is Resized?

Nov 18, 2011

I have a strange issue where Flash Player in Chrome is not updating unless the browser is resized. The app is an online design tool, written in Flex, and one of the features allows the user to upload an image and crop it. The image loads fine, and the crop action does not reload the image but uses Bitmap.copyPixels to create the cropped version. When I test on localhost (though a local server not just straight from the file system) the issue does not happen. However on our QA server the image does not appear unless you resize the browser, when I suppose a screen refresh is forced.I've tried all the usual suspects in AS3/Flex to force a redraw, updateAfterEvent, invalidateDisplayList, etc.we came up with is to resize the browser by a pixel, but this is obviously not ideal and I'd prefer a solution to a work-around.Here's the Bitmap code for reference...

var cropData:BitmapData = new BitmapData( _crop.width, _crop.height );
var originalData:BitmapData = new BitmapData( _loader.width, _loader.height );
originalData.draw( _loader );[code]....

Disable Children Automatic Scaling?

Dec 5, 2009

I'm new with actionscript and I have a basic question:

I have a Sprite and an image added to this sprite as a child of it.

Whenever I'm changing the size of the parent Sprite, the image is stretched with the Sprite.

Is there any way to disable this automatic scaling of the children?

Actionscript 3 :: Disable - Expand The Element Without Auto-scaling All Of It's Contents

Feb 28, 2012

I'm working on an AS3 project whereby an element needs to expand (downward) on hover. The problem is that I can't figure out how to expand the element without AS3 auto-scaling all of it's contents. For example (this is a Sprite):

[Code]...

Will automatically grow all children of this to fill the available space. I'm looking to disable this functionality, leaving the previously visible content in-place, so that I can reveal additional content with the new space. Playing with scaleY in the TweenLite statement doesn't seem to do anything.

It doesn't make any sense to me why this is the default behavior, but I come from an HTML (think "box-model") layout mindset, so I think that's getting me into trouble. Perhaps I've got the wrong idea entirely - is there a more AS3-appropriate method for "expanding" this to reveal the extra content?

Professional :: Animations: Zooming In And Zooming Out?

May 25, 2011

I look at professional animations and notice the camera-like effects they manage to put into these animations. I'm wondering how I can do the same without having to just enlarge or reduce a movieclip across the stage. Is there any way to add a camera view on your animations or do you just have to bear with Flash's basic necessities?

Professional :: CPU Usage When Scaling The Flash Player

Nov 12, 2010

Do anybody know about how flash player render the content when we do the scaling? Let's say i have 2 flash swf file. swf1 : the stage size is 2000 px x 2000 px. + 1 movieclip with 100% transform swf2 : the stage size is 1000 px x 1000 px. + 1 movieclip with 50% transform Let's say there is a movie clip on swf1. So i copy the same movie clip to 1000 px x 1000 px file and transform the movieclip to 50%. So it will look the same if i scale the swf2 x 2. If there is any different on swf1 and swf2 in team of CPU usage or etc?

Like is it true when playing swf2 need more CPU usage than swf1 because swf2 need to do the scaling but swf1 not. Just not sure which way i should develop the content. Because i have to make some content and the width/height are about 3000 px. So i am thinking if i should set the stage close to limit 2880 or just make the content like swf2. And my concern is if it will use more CPU when do the scaling.

Flv Movie Player Scales Along With Page - Stop Scaling?

Mar 29, 2010

I have a website which im designing exclusively in flash. The project size is 1000x500. The video which im using is 320x150. On the stage ive set the player to 320x150. The stage size is 1000x500 (thats the size and span of the website). When the page works from the internet. It expands to fill the screen of the viewing computer. Which is what i want anyway since Ive set my publish settings to get this. But the video player gets scaled along with the page that scales to occupy the viewing screen. So when the player becomes a little larger than its orginal size the video looks low quality. Is there a way that the player alone could be set to maintain its orginal size of 320x150 and not scale because this is causing the video to get distorted and pixellated ?

Is there any way to disable the "Download This Video" button from RealPlayer. It seems that when users have RealPlayer installed on their machines, it automatically adds a "Download This Video" button to any SWF that loads an FLV.

Edit: My intention isn't to prevent someone from downloading the SWF or FLV, I would just like to remove the ugly button that RealPlayer adds on top of my Flash content.

Flash :: Disable Adobe Player Hardware Acceleration In The Embed Code?

Jan 18, 2011

We run surf camera streams on our website, which are played via the latest version (5.4) of JWPlayer on our pages. Recently we switched over to another streaming service, and H.264 streams, as we are planning on streaming out to iOS devices in the very near future, however this introduced a bug on the client side where users to not receive vision (they only see a black screen where the video is normally seen).

We have discovered that disabling the Hardware Acceleration (which was introduced in Flash Player 10.1+) fixes this issue, and given the spectrum of environments where this issues is happening I would wager that this is related to specific graphics cards, their drivers, and how they handle the vision decoding etc.

The documentation we have found relating to disabling Hardware Acceleration only indicate that this can be done via the wmode param, i.e. by setting it to wmode="opaque" or wmode="transparent" however this doesn't seem to work in all cases (for the most part the issue is no longer there) however we are still seeing 30% of our users getting this issue.

We can ask the users to disable hardware acceleration themselves, and we have provided details on how to do this, however to me that is only a temporary fix, and I was curious as to whether or not there was something more permanent we can put in until Adobe fix up this issue?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Scaling Button Background Without Scaling Text?

Feb 23, 2009

I'm building some navigation that extends all the way from left to right across my SWF. When the window resizes, I'd like the nav buttons to get wider but not have the text on the buttons get wider.

The buttons themselves are rectangles with a vertical gradient and a stroke around the outside. I'm using 9-slice scaling so the stroke doesn't scale, but the middle (gradient) gets wider or narrower. What'd be great is to be able to select an object or layer and say "don't scale, even if the rest of this movie clip scales". Is there a way to do that, or will I have to do it via actionscript?

Disable Resizing Of Flash Scene In Flash Desktop Player?

Aug 19, 2011

I am using Flash CS5 and when I exprt my file to swf I notied that after exporting and playing it in Flash player (on my desktop) I can change the size of the window and the scene itself eventthough I have set the width and height dimension to e.g. 468x60.

So, the bad thing is that if I ahve some objects that are moving from this area and in banner I do not see them in flash player I can see all which is not good.

Is there a setting in export option to disable this behavior or some actionscript, so my client will not be able see the "mess-behind-the-scenes" :)?

I can probably remove some objects using actionscript, however if I have looping background image it is necessary to be bigger than 468px In my case 3x.

IDE :: LoadMovie Is Being Resized?

Jan 30, 2009

I am working on my first flash website and have been working on loadMovie & unloadMovie. The commands have been working for me and it will load & unload the external .swf in a contentHolderMC. The problem that I am encountering is the loaded .swf width is correct but the height is being reduced, I would guess to about 75%. Is there a way to maintain the external .swf's size? Even if I need to put the code into the external .swf.

I have tried creating a mask inside the contentHolderMC to match the size of the external .swf. When I have looked around for clues to the resizing, I am finding tutorials on how to resize the external .swf into a smaller Movie Clip. That's not what I am trying to do.
