I have created the following preloader saved as "preloader.swf" that loads an external SWF file as follows:[code]I was reading to try avoid the PROGRESS and COMPLETE events since these events don't work 100% of the time.Now my question is this: is there a way of how I can go about to have the same functionality of loading an external SWF file (as above) but WITHOUT using the PROGRESS and COMPLETE events?
View 1 RepliesI am very new to remoting in flex. I am using flex 4.5 and talking to a web application built by someone else on the team using AMF. They have used Zend_AMF to serialize and unserialize the data.One of the main issues I am facing at the moment is that I will need to talk to a lot of services (about 60 or so).From examples on remoting I have seen online and from adobe, it seems that I need to define a remoting object for EACH service:

With so many services, I think I might have to define about 60 of those, which I don't think is very elegant.At the same time, I have been playing with Pinta to test out the AMF endpoint. Pinta seems to be able to allow one to define an arbitary amount of services, methods and parameters without any of these limitations. Digging through the source, I find that they have actually drilled down deep into the remoting and are handling a lot of low level stuff.
Is it possible (and if so recommended) to use Flex remoting (mx.rpc)classes in an actionscript only project?
I'm creating an application with login and registration to a php back end using AMFphp.
As an option I was wondering if it made sense to take advantage of the mx.rpc flex classes.

View 1 RepliesIs the same possible in ColdFusion? Currently I am using .Net/Fluorine to return objects to the client. Whilst in testing I like to pass strings representing the select statement and the custom object I wish to have returned from my service. Fluorine has a class ASObject to which you can set the var 'typeName'; which works great.
I am hoping that this is possible in Coldfusion. Does anyone know whether you can set the type of the returned object in a similar way. This is especially helpful with large collections as the flash player will convert them to a local object of the same name thus saving interating over the collection to convert the objects to a particular custom object.

I have an Application consisting of a Java Server part and a Flash/Flex client, both communicate via BlazeDS. In order to have the same typed Objects on both sites, I use the GAS3 code generator (used by flex-mojos).But now I am facing the problem of handling nullable Integers. The problem is that I have an Object (A) which contains a foreign key ID which is reference an optional Object B. - But I only send the ID to the flex client.On the Java site it is easy:

But on the flex client side, bFk is of type int. And a Flash int can not be null. So the remoting mechanism converts the Java null Integer to 0. After sending it back to the server, the Java bFk becomes 0 even on the Java side. - That is not acceptable, because I need to separate 0 and nullMy first workround is using not a Integer on the Java side, but an new Class NullAbleID, which works a bit like a wrapper/adapter, that wrap an internal int where -1 represent null (I can use -1 for null, because real id will be negative). But when I would using this it means I have to replace all Java Integer ids, by this NullAbleID class.

I have an SWF movie (1375 frames) and created a progress bar (248px wide) with a slider that moves according to the movie progress. I'm doing that next way:Calculating the distance for the slider to be moved each frame (248 / 1375) On each ENTER_FRAME moving the slider for the calculated distance The problem is - the movie ends far before the slider reaches the end of the progress bar.
I'm thinking that the distance (Step 1) is is somehow ends floored by Flash and the actual distance it moves the slider is smaller than required. That's why the movie ends, but the timeline control just passed the 2/3 of its way. My question is - is there any solution for the problem? Or any other way to go, if it's a wrong one?

View 1 RepliesI'm using a progress bar to let a user know how much more live streaming video data is to be buffered before it starts playing.Have that much working fine.Problem is, if the buffer gets used up, and I need to rebuffer, I can't seem to get the progress bar reset and visible again. Seems once it hits 100% on app start up it can't be reused.I'm catching the proper NetStream.netStatus events.The hook for the empty buffer is there and is executing.I'm just not seeing how I might redisplay and start a fresh bar there?
I've tried bar.visible = true and nothing appears.Also tried making a new one and setting visible each time the buffer is empty but no dice.Seems to just be ignored.

I want to set value of a progress bar in an accordion but I am encountering 'setProgress is not a function' error. If I move the progress bar out of the Accordion then the error goes away and the progress bar appears fine. I am a beginner in Flex. For my appln, I wanted to have the progress bar, but not the default that Flex Framework provides.
I wanted to have a circular loading "progressbar" that would move in circular fashion before completing one complete revolution to 100%.
Can I do that in Flex 3 ? If yes, how ?
My application has a couple of modules which am loading as thus in my application.

I have five text boxes and a dropdown box in my flex application, how can I make the progress bar fill up when there is text in each box, and the dropdown selected. For example, if there is input in three out of five of the boxes and there is a selection in the dropdown, then the progress bar would be 4/6 full.
View 1 RepliesI have a Flex3 application which has to be capable of uploading multiple files and monitoring each files individual progress using a label NOT a progress bar.
My problem is that a generic progress handler for the uploads has no way (that I know of) of indicating WHICH upload it is that is progressing. I know that a file name is available to check but in the case of this app the file name might be the same for multiple uploads.
My question: With a generic progress handler how does one differentiate between 2 multiple uploads with the same file name?
I am attempting to monitor the progress of an image scroller I've built and all of the images (thumbs) load separately. What would be the best way of figuring out what the total progress of the images that are loading? I was thinking it would be cool to use a generic loader and apply it to a function such as

I am a novice to flex and I am trying to develop an application for uploading multiple image file along with progressbar for each upload. The datagrid holds the name of the file and the progressbar for each file when we select and add a file. When there is progress in file upload, it should be reflected in the progressbar as well. I have used filerefencelist to hold the collection of files and when i try to upload files it generates error "Null object"

I'm deploying a small application with Adobe Air. My application will do batch upload from filepath which stored in a text file. For example, in a text file name "list.txt", there is a string "C:myfilesIMG_0001.JPG". Now I want to upload this image file, keep tracking of upload progress :-< I want to use FileReference to get the upload progress, but I don't know how to import from file's path. I also wonder how to use FileReference to upload this file without prompting a dialog for user to select file.
