I'm trying to modify my bitmap to change their pixels to a random color. This is the way I do it (I'm using the FlashPunk library):

So ok, the function that does this is render(), but in the line
graphic = new Image(_bmpData);
I get new memory for graphic, and this translate into a memory leak in the game. Here is an image of this:
And as you can see, the MEM: part is constantly increasing.
I make a photo gallery. I populate the images (660 in total) by using push.Array I want to make an inputText area so everyone will be able to jump to photo number whichever they please. Example, if you type 258 in the inputdataText, photo258.jpg will load to the stage.
Below is the script my_ti is the instance for my text input components (using AS 2.0 and Flash player 6, CS 3)fotoke is the instance for my dynamic text. It tells the users which photo they're currently seeing.

The following code is quite nice I got it from a tutorial. But I would like one modification as mentioned below: The next_btn will disappear in the following code once it reaches to 5 image.Instead that what I need to modify is, the could should get th last number from the images and set the disappear to value to next_btn. Why I need it because I don't know how many images the user will require. The following is the code:

i'm trying to modify a image, which is casted from a String:[code]In the inactiveElements Array are a bunch of ImageIds (way_0, way_1,..) and i'm trying to set the alpha-value of each Image.[code]with the trace i got the right String of ImageId but the cast to Image fails.[code]

- browse local file with button.browse
- select one and save it as a FileReference.
- then we do FileReference.load() then bind the data to our image control.
- after we make a rotation on it and change the data of image.
- and to finish we upload it to a server.
To change the data of image i get the matrix of the displayed image and transform it then i re-use the new matrix and bind it to my old image:

Now the mater is that i really don't know how to send the data as a file to my server cause its not stored in the FileReference and data inside FileReference is readOnly so we can't change it or create a new, so i can't use .upload();.Then i tried HttpService.send but i can't figure out how you send a file and not a mxml.
I have to make a thingie whereby when u enter values into 2 input txt boxes an image modifies its scale and alpha accordingly. Now I have done everything I am supposed to but the funny thing is NOTHING happens. I'll post the code (I applied it to the button which I think is right)...

So I am trying to save this image with image extension and will give link of saved image in PDF file to show.
I have a tweened movie which plays on a loop. A click on the image area stops the movie and the image fades nicely from alpha 100 to alpha 0. A second click brings the image back immediately to alpha 100 and the clip continues. I would like the movie image to fade back in from alpha0 to alpha 100 before it re-starts; (the reverse of the fade out). At the moment the re-appearence of the image is a crude jump. So far my ill informed tinkering has not worked.

If i send bitmap data from Flash AS3, to PHP and then PHP turns the bitmap data into a image file and saves on server... Would it take too much resources?I mean, The Bitmap Data could contain too much pixels etc does that affect the resources? If 10-100 people send data simultaneously is it going to cause problems.

Of course, it is simple to load an image (that you know the path to) using loadMovie, but I also want to load certain pieces of meta data about the image that is precalculated and stored on the server; we may one day want to retrieve things completely unrelated to the image as well, so consider the non-image data to be arbitrary.So, that said, is there a way to simply return the image as a variable (urlencoded and returned in a loadVars request, perhaps) and then load that data into a movie clip?
Bonus Lightning Round Question: Is there a way to check the output of a PHP script which processes uploads when the request is sent via FileReference.upload(url:String)? Should I load/escape the binary data and then send it using a loadVars() request if I want to see the output?

I have to create a print screen image in Java and send the image to Flash so I can set it as the background of my Flash file. I was trying to send the data through an xmlSocket but I dont know in which format to send the data of the image so that Flash can recreate it.
I am creating a slideshow within Flash that uses XML data pulled from a database. Is there any way to manipulate the image size from within Flash? I am going to use the slideshow for a plasma display, and have clients uploading image files at random, which are then added to our database. I need each image to be 16:9. I know the easy way to control this would be to give the clients size requirements - we will do this in the future - but unfortunately there are hundreds of images already in the database that are already odd sizes. While it's clearly possible to change the size of the movie itself, is there a way to force each image that is imported from the XML to be a particular size - say 800 x 450 or 1200x 675 or 1600 x 900? (i.e. -- can I force the XML generated image to fill up the whole screen/browser window, regardless of what size it is?) It does not matter if the image gets distorted or stretched.

Is there any workaround?Currently, Flash can output two kinds of vector images: SWF and FXG, neither of which seem to be importable by most applications, including Fireworks and Illustrator (which write to FXG but not read from it), and Catalyst doesn't seem to write to anything other than what Builder uses. In other words, I know no way to export Flash files to vector formats (besides using Flash CS4).

View 1 RepliesI am making a snow boarding game in AS3. The problem I am having is that I want to leave a trail in the snow behind the board.
I have had a think and feel that the best way of achieving this would be to use the lineTo() method to draw a line form the snowboards previous position to its current position. If I do this all of the way down the slope I would end up with a line almost 23000 pixels long which seems extremely large and will have a major impact on performance.
If I were to convert the trail movieclip to a bitmap would it improve performance? I am targeting a minimum of flash player 9 which I have found to have issues when handling bmp's over 2880 pixels so I think this method might not work.
I need to clone .png image data loaded from server in AS3, so that I am not required to load same data again and again from server. After a search on cloning image data in AS3 I was able to find following code over internet clone = new Bitmap(Bitmap(this._loader.content).bitmapData.clone()) By using this code I am able to clone bitmap data but the problem which I am facing is that my png background is transparent. If I typecast loaded png data to bitmap my icons background becomes white.

I have created a game that randomly loads in an image from an XML file. The image size is roughly 400x300 and loads up in the center of the stage. In the top corner of the game, there is a 50x50px box that loads the exact same image as the 400x300 one but it only shows a 50x50 part of that image. You need to click on the part of the image shown in the 50x50 box in the larger image to advance in the game.
What I've found after playtesting is certain parts of the image are extremely dark and make advancing near impossible without wildly clicking on the larger image in all the dark places.
Is there some way that flash can determine the color data of the image? Say, flash recognizes that there's too much black in the image so it skips it and goes to the next image.
Is it possible to load an ActionScript 3 SWF and interact with it, for example by replacing some of its functions or editing variables? Similar to how it's possible in .NET using reflection and code generation. I'm looking to add an extra layer of functionality over an existing 3rd-party AS3 app.

have a website that I have to modify. It is entirely built with flash. The problem is that I do not have the fla files. So I have two options: either using a special program which converts the swf into a fla file or build the website with the changes from scratch.
