My Flash crashes immediately when I click on the menu Modify/Document. It goes in idle and after some seconds on the top left software frame comes "(Not Responding)" and I then can only close Flash..
unfortunately many times the Flash plugin at Google's Chrome crashes. But fortunately, they just present a message box and a sad face.
My question is, how do they do it? my first thought is that they use structured exception handling but then again, how they know its Flash that crashed?
I was working on a project, copying and pasting a large amount of frames and objects when Flash CS4 would not let me save, the message was something like "cannot save due to an unknown error" so I closed it and opened again, and the following error popus came up repeatedly:
1) "The following panel layout is missing or could not be read:/Users/(my name)/Library/Application Support/Adobe Flash CS4/en/Configuration/Workspace/Animator.xml
The application will not have have a correct layout. Please load one from Windows - > Workspace."
I looked for the file and it's actually in the folder.I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash CS4 twice, and the entire Creative Suite once already, none of this has solved the issue.
Worked on a project for 8 hours. I should have saved it, but the abobe stuff seemed to be bullet proof. I pressed the up arrow and poof gone.
Why is there not some sort of auto save for when it crashes? such a simple task you completely forgot. I guess now I have to save non stop to use your product. I don't want to sit there and mash that crap all day long. Another thing why does cutting and pasting frames from another file always put it in random spot? then when you go to move it, you have one messed up animation. When you click on a layer, you see the motion in the little colored line, and then the actual pic. When you select more then 1 layer it only picks one of the dotted lines, but it proceeds to copy incorectly.
BTW why restrict underscores in screen names? WHY? I can't come up with any good reason.
i've modified the right click menu so that the default is not shown, and i have added some of my own. In a couple of places on the screen where i right click it shows the default right click menu?? (on different frames) why does it do that/ how can i solve the problem
I use flash cs5.5 for mobile. I recently started using flash builder with it. Something wrong with flash cs5.5 mobile compiler. I can't compile for iOS or android anymore, it just hangs and never finishes creating the swf. or crashes. Test movie never pops up the windows, Air debug launcher in this case. Its not my app, its the same with a new blank one. I can test movie and/or compile flash 10.2 swfs.
Is it possible to load an ActionScript 3 SWF and interact with it, for example by replacing some of its functions or editing variables? Similar to how it's possible in .NET using reflection and code generation. I'm looking to add an extra layer of functionality over an existing 3rd-party AS3 app.
have a website that I have to modify. It is entirely built with flash. The problem is that I do not have the fla files. So I have two options: either using a special program which converts the swf into a fla file or build the website with the changes from scratch.
I'm trying to modify my bitmap to change their pixels to a random color. This is the way I do it (I'm using the FlashPunk library): private var _v:Point = new Point; private var _speed:Point = new Point(200, 200); private var _bmpData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(24, 24, false, 0x000000) private var _bmpImage:Image = new Image(_bmpData); public function Player(p:Point) { [Code] .....
So ok, the function that does this is render(), but in the line graphic = new Image(_bmpData); I get new memory for graphic, and this translate into a memory leak in the game. Here is an image of this: And as you can see, the MEM: part is constantly increasing.
I know you can load an external XML file in flash and manipulate it, but is it possible to then save that XMLl? I've found nothing on saving/overwriting external XML files.
Basically what I have is a flash app in which you write questions. I would like to be able to see the last 10 questions asked. I was thinking of doing this by telling flash to write the question the user types to a xml file that has 10 questions. After doing a search on the forums I found out this can be done with a php script. How to write a php script to modify an xml? And what as3 code is needed in flash to run this script?
I have some templates I created in flash cs3 each one with different dimensions, different background colors, different class path etc... but I would like to modify and delete some of them and I cannot find the way to do this.

Any work flow to allow a Flash swf to be compiled by a web server. I would like to create an app that allows me to inject some code into a swf file and publish the output. Basically the user logs into a website sets up some properties, hits publish, and then downloads the app as a swf file. So the part that is stumping me is that I need one file. Compiling or editing would have to happen on the web server since I need to avoid separate resource or data config type files. The user must be able to download one complete SWF file only.
My thoughts were that maybe... Inject some code or variables into a SWF after it has been compiled from a FLA to SWF? somehow parse and rewrite the swf file on the server. An open source complier that can sit on the web server, or a javascript app that could compile a FLA to SWF? A way to complile a FLA to a SWF by using another Flash SWF? A homebrew web server that runs a command line compiler of the FLA script on demand. HaXe, MTASC, Adobe AIR? Any high level workflow that might work??
I am new in Graphics and Multimedia Programming and I use Adobe Flash CS5 Professional V11.0 to edit and create some short flash movies.I have an old flash movie which is created by older version of Flash (Macromedia Flash 10 or 8). This falsh movie needs modification because it has some typing errors.
I had a rendered Flash movie (.swf) that I converted to its original format (.fla) with its associated resources like Action - Button - Font - Frame - Image - Shape - Sprite using a Flash decompiler software.
I have edited the shapes which includes the errors by my flash software and save it using the available formats which are CS5 or CS4 which are only allowed in saving options.
I took copies of the old edited shapes and replaced them with new correct ones but when I publish the file to be in *.swf format or expert it to flash it did not work as they are not there at all.it may be a type mismatch but I downloaded and installed old flash software version (Macromedia Flash 8.0) to read and publish them but it gives file reading error and was unable to read or manipulate them at all.
I tried a program that replaces specific shape or all flash shapes but it did not see that also and it is used only with *.swf format. Is there any way to convert or treat shapes in flash as text ?
I searched the web for that but most results coming talks about Shape tweening and I did not find what I want. How I can change the mistakes in these flash shapes and leaving the other things as they are like the action script and the timeline used as I only want to replace these wrong shapes ?
i would like to know if its possible to export or modify a .txt file?If yes, how do i code it?I've tried searching on google, and on several popular flash- site
I'm using flash 8 and am trying to develop something where the user inputs some text in a "input text" box, then through a button or drop down menu selects a font and the inputed text is displayed in the font they chose. This is what I have so far: A dynamic Text box that displays the text an input text box where the user inputs their text and, for right now, some buttons that correspond to different fonts. My dynamic text box has the variable font2 and the buttons have the following action script:
I want to make a preloader for flash mx 2004 that when it finish becomes to decrement another time. I would like to do it to modify the flash preloader component.
I'm trying to come up with a convenient workflow for importing .ai Files into Flash. While the import works fine, there is one major drawback: If an artist decides to update something within the .ai file, then it is frustratingly hard to make that change in Flash as well, since it is not possible to just "update" any of the imported assets from Illustrator.
There is an "update" function available in flash for imported graphics which are linked to bitmap files (.png, .jpg, etc.), but so far it does not seem possible to kind of link imported assets to an external file and maintain that link.
Or does anyone know of a way to use Illustrator files as a basis, import into Flash, and make it possible to re-import the .ai file and actually overwrite all library items that already exist? Usually Flash creates copies of the imported ai file.
I have been given the task of updating my company's website, which is written in ASP and has a menu in Flash. I am not experienced in neither technology so maybe you can help me a little bit.We have a menu in flash and just received a new one from an artist. They are pretty similar but the new one brings some new buttons. So far what I did was simply change the .fla and .swf files from my web project to the new ones. The new menu is working, but the buttons and links are messed up. For example, our website main page is called Default.aspx. In the old menu, when you clicked in 'Home' it would take you to Default.aspx. In the new one though, it tries to take you to 'index.aspx', which doesn't exist. This makes me think that the mapping of the links in the menu is something that is part of the Flash code. Am I right about this?
Now, if I am right and I need to modify the flash files to create the correct links, how the heck do I do that? Notepad++ doesn't read the .fla well. What is the best free tool that will allow me to modify a file and compile it into a .swf? I know Adobe Flash would work, but we don't want to pay anything.
I'm trying to modify the text of a Label component that I already placed on the stage in as3. I'm having trouble getting the text to change though, it just stays the same based on the initial text I typed in. I'd like to eventually have the label contents change dynamically. When I compile the swf, the two labels have the original value I gave them when I put them on the stage, not the startDate and endDate values.
My code looks like: package { import flash.display.*; import fl.controls.Slider; import fl.events.SliderEvent; import fl.controls.Label; public class slider extends MovieClip{ [Code] .....
Is there any way to remove/modify the Flash Media Setting pop-up window?
When prompted to use a flash-based player, I am prompted with the Adobe Settings/Permissions window. I would like to modifiy the UI of this window, if possible.
If I cannot modify the look of the window, is there any way to regulate when the window pops up or when that permission is granted.
I have been asked to add just some more text in the last "slide" of a Flash movie. I don't have access to the .fla files. What are my options (apart from using decompilers)?
If i create a movieclip named player and in this class there is the proprety map (a string) and level(an int); I would like to know if there is a way of modifying these propreties without actionscript when i create an instance of that symbol. For exemple, like you would modify the height and the width of a movieclip in flash(the program, not actionscript), but modify this instance's map and level proprieties instead
