View 3 Replieshave a website that I have to modify. It is entirely built with flash. The problem is that I do not have the fla files. So I have two options: either using a special program which converts the swf into a fla file or build the website with the changes from scratch.
View 1 RepliesI know you can load an external XML file in flash and manipulate it, but is it possible to then save that XMLl? I've found nothing on saving/overwriting external XML files.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to come up with a convenient workflow for importing .ai Files into Flash. While the import works fine, there is one major drawback: If an artist decides to update something within the .ai file, then it is frustratingly hard to make that change in Flash as well, since it is not possible to just "update" any of the imported assets from Illustrator.
There is an "update" function available in flash for imported graphics which are linked to bitmap files (.png, .jpg, etc.), but so far it does not seem possible to kind of link imported assets to an external file and maintain that link.
Or does anyone know of a way to use Illustrator files as a basis, import into Flash, and make it possible to re-import the .ai file and actually overwrite all library items that already exist? Usually Flash creates copies of the imported ai file.
I want to modify an existing xml file (membres.xml) starting from flash by using sendAndLoad() and while passing by a php file. I control rather well flash, I know xml better and better but I know the php still little. My progamming is partly inspired from this tutorial: [URL]. But something still does not function. This is why I need your assistance. All seems to function, but my xml file (membres.xml) remains unchanged.
Flash:
In flash, after having loaded and having modified the file membres.xml, I use sendAndLoad to send my xml object to the php file:
reload_xml.sendAndLoad("envoiexml.php", membres_xml);
A trace of the xml object did right before sendAndLoad shows that the xml object reload_xml was modified correctly. The error must thus logically be further. Here now the php code in the file envoiexml.php:
<?php
$filename = "membres.xml";
$raw_xml = file_get_contents("php://input");
print $raw_xml;
$fp = fopen($filename, "w");
fwrite($fp, $raw_xml);
fclose($fp);
?>
I am very new to ActionScript. I have a .fla file which contains the AS2 code for the frames. What I need to do is that I have to export this code as a separate file. There may be a separate file(or class file) for each frame code. Is it possible to me do it automatically without losing animation interactivity and functionality? Or is there any other way?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to export text from a text field, which has been created in Flash and export it into an external file such as a text file or Word document?The idea is that information will be collected by the user into a text field within the swf. Hopefully, this information can then be exported into an external file which will allow the user to work on and edit at a later stage. It needs to be a separate editable document. Is this possible? I'm using Flash 8.
View 1 RepliesI need to export a Flash file I created as an animated GIF. Despite trying various settings under Publish, the animated GIF looks very low res or pixelated, yet the SWF file looks fine.
View 4 RepliesBut the challenge is how should i import this icons in flash that too in vector format. I am following a process which is not really giving me a proper output. Process
1. Export the AI file in swf format
2. Convert the swf to fla using decompiler
3. open the fla to view the icons
Now the challenge is when I follow this process i get a large number of masked layers in flash. For one icon it shows around 80 layers...
I have flash as part of the CS3 suite but I never use it, don't know how. However I have a need to convert some flash files to something that can be uploaded to the web, ala YouTube. So naturally I opened a .flv file with Flash and simple went to File->Export hoping (but doubting) it would be that easy. Of course, that did not work. The result was a half second of blank white screen.
Is there a quick and simple way to open a Flash file and convert it/export it as .mov (or some other format for uploading to video sites that don't accept flash files)?
I am making a flash survey using AS3. All of the input data is stored in variables. At the end of the variables i want to export all of the variables to a Excel file. Is that possible? If not than how can i export the data? I have never exported data in flash so i have no idea what to do
View 6 RepliesFor a school project, I need to convert my flash animation in a quick time movie (stubborn teacher).When I publish the file as a mov. file, it gives me the following error:"The installed version of Quick Time does not have a handler for this type of Macromedia Flash Movie.

View 4 Replieswant to know if it is possible to create a vector basedfile (PDF) from a web based Flash application. The applicationwould be a 'Design it yourself' type deal, it would just be a fancytext generator. All this will be designed by the user using theflash application . What I want to know is once the user has finished designingtheir text, can this 'creation' then be exported as preferably aPDF, or Jpg, etc. once the user submits the design?
View 6 RepliesI have a flash file which is 690 x 420 pixels. When I export it and set it up to play on jwplayer it shows with all of the pieces that are off the art board also. This is a test [URL].
View 7 RepliesI want to exported designed components from Flash Catalyst to IDEA.Because FXPL is a specific adobe format, i need it in a little bit more generic format like an swc.So how is the best way to get my component into an swc ? I found a lot of scripts / hacks to pack actionsscript / flex assets into an swc but i would like to have an "official" way.
View 2 RepliesI am really new to php. I have an AS3 file which records user inputted data and stores them in variables. The only thing i know how to do is how to email those variables using .php. Well I want to be able to export the data to a csv file from the flash file and later want to import it back to the flash file.
View 1 RepliesWhy I am getting errors when I export this flash file as a swf movie. It seems that the actionscript has "duplicate function definition" I do not understand where OI am going wrong.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to export the button symbol from Flash and publish swc file for Flex.I have successfully export 3 buttons which are playBtn, stopBtn, pauseBtn from flash and add swc file to my flex actionscript files.my code is:
private var stopBt:stopBtn;
private var playBt:playBtn;
private var pauseBt:pauseBtn;
private var mutebt:muteBtn // no such datatype.....
error message....an internal build error has occurred, right click for more information.Since I add swc from flash in flex, I don't have to import these button...However, when I tried to create 1 more button (muteBtn) in flash and did the same thing again in flex, it gave me "an internal build error has occurred, right click for more information" error.When I created a var and tried to type :, there are no muteBtn datatype pop up.... I have spent 2 hours on this crazy crap and don't know WTF is going on.
I am trying to modify a .fla file with flash cs3.When open it, the file does not play or look like it should.All I need to do is change the links within the file (which I did easily) but still the file doesnt look right.I got a developer friend to also try it and he had the same problem.This is the site on a testing urlAnd this is a link to the actual .fla file that can be downloaded:Is it perhaps because the file was made in a program other than flash?

View 3 RepliesI have downloaded a free templete of flash. When I make any changes in the contents and Test Movie (Control-Test Movie), the sound from the swf file disappers. how do I make changes in the fla file without having sound disappear.
View 1 RepliesI asked this earlier but maybe I didn't give enough information. I am working on a website where video quality is very important and the client is delivering me the video already compressed. I then want to import it to flash CS3 and export it as .flv for progressive download with the media playback component. I have done all of this successfully in a sense that it all works but the video quality is not good enough, it's good but the client says it;s a bit grainy. I used the highest setting in Flash, on2 vp6 at 700kbs.
My question is what is the best file format (.mov etc) and what settings should the client use, so I can create the highest quality .flv export from their .mov file? Second question, I used an 8 second buffer but now the client is saying they don't want it to buffer at all. What are the other options besides progressive download, I have never delved into this before?
Is there a script to create an admin page to modify an XML file? Currently- I'm going in and having to manually change 4 ID fields everytime I want to update. I'm looking to make it more accessible for everyone to update it.
