ActionScript 3.0 :: Export Flash Code To A Class File And Use It
Aug 20, 2009
I have this code in my .fla file. What it does, in a nutshell, is get data from a .xml and display it in a movieclip. And, what i would like to do is palce this code in a .as file and use it from there.[code]
I am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file. When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main. Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.
package { import flash.display.DisplayObject; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.display.Loader; import flash.events.*; import flash.net.*; public class HelloWorldImage extends Sprite { private var background:DisplayObject, foreground:DisplayObject; private var url:String = "hw_jpg.jpg"; private var loader:Loader = new Loader( ); public function
Got to the point where the hole in my AS3 knowledge is getting large!Realising I have confusion about the relationship of:Body of code on first frame of AS3 file.(Which I have so far used to create instances of library objects using addchild and make calls to class code). Is this code called the document code? What do people call it?Numerous classes linked together by extending each other etc.Library objects (usually graphical objects)Should it be done differently? have the following problems due to lack of understanding:Addchild complicated from a class but straight forward in main body code.Cant call functions on the main body code from classes, because class code does not know the main body code exists?
I am very new to ActionScript. I have a .fla file which contains the AS2 code for the frames. What I need to do is that I have to export this code as a separate file. There may be a separate file(or class file) for each frame code. Is it possible to me do it automatically without losing animation interactivity and functionality? Or is there any other way?
Is it possible to export text from a text field, which has been created in Flash and export it into an external file such as a text file or Word document? The idea is that information will be collected by the user into a text field within the swf. Hopefully, this information can then be exported into an external file which will allow the user to work on and edit at a later stage. It needs to be a separate editable document. Is this possible? I'm using Flash 8.
I have a symbol in the Library with a Base Class that extends the MovieClip Class and adds some additional functionality. I want to be able to export this from the Library by right clicking on the symbol and selecting Export SWF. I was hopping this would essentially give me the same results as if the symbol contents was on the main timeline and I had declared the Base Class as the Document Class. When I import this SWF using the Loader Class it seems to loose all of Base Class functionality and think of itself as a MovieClip.
Looking at the below sample code, the alpha property is correctly set but the param1 getter is unaccessible. What the hell is going on?
Can I import binary in Flash CS5 and export swf, without AS code likes "Embed" ?I know I can use AS code, likes "[Embed]" metadata to embed binary in swf. But , how can I do that in Flash CS5 ?
I need to export a Flash file I created as an animated GIF. Despite trying various settings under Publish, the animated GIF looks very low res or pixelated, yet the SWF file looks fine.
But the challenge is how should i import this icons in flash that too in vector format. I am following a process which is not really giving me a proper output. Process
1. Export the AI file in swf format
2. Convert the swf to fla using decompiler
3. open the fla to view the icons
Now the challenge is when I follow this process i get a large number of masked layers in flash. For one icon it shows around 80 layers...
I have flash as part of the CS3 suite but I never use it, don't know how. However I have a need to convert some flash files to something that can be uploaded to the web, ala YouTube. So naturally I opened a .flv file with Flash and simple went to File->Export hoping (but doubting) it would be that easy. Of course, that did not work. The result was a half second of blank white screen.
Is there a quick and simple way to open a Flash file and convert it/export it as .mov (or some other format for uploading to video sites that don't accept flash files)?
i would like to know if its possible to export or modify a .txt file?If yes, how do i code it?I've tried searching on google, and on several popular flash- site
I am making a flash survey using AS3. All of the input data is stored in variables. At the end of the variables i want to export all of the variables to a Excel file. Is that possible? If not than how can i export the data? I have never exported data in flash so i have no idea what to do
For a school project, I need to convert my flash animation in a quick time movie (stubborn teacher). When I publish the file as a mov. file, it gives me the following error:"The installed version of Quick Time does not have a handler for this type of Macromedia Flash Movie.
I have a flash module in a simple webpage. In that flash module : a short video and some graphic elements. When the user clic on "OK", it should export the animation in .avi format and He could have that.Is it possible to create a AS script for that? (avi exportation)
want to know if it is possible to create a vector basedfile (PDF) from a web based Flash application. The applicationwould be a 'Design it yourself' type deal, it would just be a fancytext generator. All this will be designed by the user using theflash application . What I want to know is once the user has finished designingtheir text, can this 'creation' then be exported as preferably aPDF, or Jpg, etc. once the user submits the design?
I have a flash file which is 690 x 420 pixels. When I export it and set it up to play on jwplayer it shows with all of the pieces that are off the art board also. This is a test [URL].
I want to exported designed components from Flash Catalyst to IDEA.Because FXPL is a specific adobe format, i need it in a little bit more generic format like an swc.So how is the best way to get my component into an swc ? I found a lot of scripts / hacks to pack actionsscript / flex assets into an swc but i would like to have an "official" way.
I am really new to php. I have an AS3 file which records user inputted data and stores them in variables. The only thing i know how to do is how to email those variables using .php. Well I want to be able to export the data to a csv file from the flash file and later want to import it back to the flash file.
Why I am getting errors when I export this flash file as a swf movie. It seems that the actionscript has "duplicate function definition" I do not understand where OI am going wrong.
I am trying to export the button symbol from Flash and publish swc file for Flex.I have successfully export 3 buttons which are playBtn, stopBtn, pauseBtn from flash and add swc file to my flex actionscript files.my code is:
private var stopBt:stopBtn; private var playBt:playBtn; private var pauseBt:pauseBtn;
private var mutebt:muteBtn // no such datatype.....
error message....an internal build error has occurred, right click for more information.Since I add swc from flash in flex, I don't have to import these button...However, when I tried to create 1 more button (muteBtn) in flash and did the same thing again in flex, it gave me "an internal build error has occurred, right click for more information" error. When I created a var and tried to type :, there are no muteBtn datatype pop up.... I have spent 2 hours on this crazy crap and don't know WTF is going on.
I am trying to find out how to make one .as file code interact with another .as file's code.like, if I had one .as file that specified options of movies and then when the user clicks on a movie (loaded through xml) it uses code from another .as file to load the correct movie.
I asked this earlier but maybe I didn't give enough information. I am working on a website where video quality is very important and the client is delivering me the video already compressed. I then want to import it to flash CS3 and export it as .flv for progressive download with the media playback component. I have done all of this successfully in a sense that it all works but the video quality is not good enough, it's good but the client says it;s a bit grainy. I used the highest setting in Flash, on2 vp6 at 700kbs.
My question is what is the best file format (.mov etc) and what settings should the client use, so I can create the highest quality .flv export from their .mov file? Second question, I used an 8 second buffer but now the client is saying they don't want it to buffer at all. What are the other options besides progressive download, I have never delved into this before?
I had a 2 frame setup with some actionscript for each frame. Tried to move it all into one class file and a
1. frame .fla. ; Hiding and showing the resp. moviclips when i virtually move from frame 1 to frame
2. Now I get these ...Error #1069: Property edit_panel_mc not found on flash.display and there is no default value. errors or..
when i thought beeing clever adding the stage. prefix ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property edit_panel_mc not found on flash.display.Stage and there is no default value. The mc's are on the stage... i have a single .as classfile. Why cant I reference them? or how should i do it/ what should i do to change it from beeing .fla script to class script.
I see a lot of tutorials about coding actionscript 3 when they use all the code in a Class.I keep thinking every time why they use it in a class, instead of using actionscript on the stage.why it is more functional to code a class instead of putting code in the stage actionscript?
am trying to export/publish a swf of a dress up game I made so I can put it in Dreamweaver and upload it to my site but I keep getting this error message:"Error Creating Flash Movie File: Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long".I am also unable to test the movie, it gives me the same error message.
