Actionscript 3 :: Referencing Loader After Created In Loop?
Nov 11, 2010
I am creating a loop which loadsimages to newly created loaders. After each loader completes, I'd like to pass it through another function Here's my loop of loaders where loader_names is an array of my loader names and overlay_files is an array of my file URLs
for (var j:int = 0; j < loader_names.length; j++) {
loader_names[j] = new Loader();
loader_names[j].contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
loader_names[j].load(new URLRequest(overlay_files[j]));
}
Once each image loads I want to overlay the image on a map here's a loop which does just that, only I do not know how to pass loaders into this function as they finish
function create_overlays(e:Event):void {
for (var k:int = 0; k < loader_names.length; k++) {
overlay_names[k] = new GroundOverlay(loader_names[k],
new LatLngBounds(new LatLng(46.669, -115.035), new LatLng(48.995,-112.079)));
}
}
I am creating a loop which loadsimages to newly created loaders.After each loader completes, I'd like to pass it through another function.[code]It seems like if the above function was my complete_handler but in the place of loader_names[k] would be the completed loader.
here is a snippet of code in first frame of the movie I have trouble with:
---------------- for (var i = 0; i < 5; i++) { var container:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); this.addChild(container);
[Code]....
I am getting an error message: A term is undefined and has no properties. I checked list of objects and container0.one and it's there but I can not get to container0.one.usecase
I have a number of 'TweenField' instances created in a for loop. The problem is that each time the loop increments, the 'myTweenField' variable has the same name, so I don't know how they can be referenced individually from elsewhere in the script. How can I rewrite it so that each instance has a unique name, and how would I then reference it from outside the loop?
wrote a couple of small games using AS 2.0. One of the things I found easiest about AS 2.0 is that a MovieClip created using _root. attachMovieClip() inside of one function was accessible to every other function. For instance:
This causes an error, because the MovieClip variable was declared inside of a function and when the function ended, the MovieClip variable was erased. Is there any way of doing this without declaring the MovieClip variable outside of the function? I want to be able to create an unknown amount of these movieclips on the fly, so I can't just declare them outside of the function.
I am completely new to actionscript although I do come from a OOP background. I have been asked to trial Flash and Actionscript 3 in particular - so I do come with a few preconceptions on how I expect actionscript to behave. I have a problem I donot understand. I have created a new class and to test it I use a simple test harness in the form of a .fla file.
The issue I have is when I create a new instance of the class and assign it to a variable, subsequent background changes to that instance of the class are not 'picked-up' when referenced through the variable. I would expect that given instance of class could be assigned to many different variables and any updates using one variable would accessible using any of the other variables.
I've made 18 movies in a for loop. I'm trying to modify a text field in those movies. I am unable to do so in the for loop. Something with my referencing is wrong.
The dynamic text field in each movie is named "eventText".
I am adding a bunch of MC's(linkage ID:buttonHolder) dynamically using a for loop and attachMovie. If I want to dynamically add an onRelease function to each of those MCs,so that each of them links to different links how would I accomplish that? here's where i've reached so far..
var depth:Number=0; var nextY:Number=77; for (i=0; i<5; i++)
I am trying to load an image in to a dynamically created movieclip, which is:
_root.mySlider."+stripX2(band[i][0])+i
but I can't seem to reference it. I can load the movie into _root.mySlider, but if I add the dynamic element (stripX2(band[i][0])+i) without quotes it it doesn't load. If I load with quotes i.e.
"_root.mySlider."+stripX2(band[i][0])+i
flash doesn't allow strings in movieClip variables.The code I'm using is belowm, it's the second to last line thats causing the problem:
var loadListener:Object = new Object(); loadListener.onLoadComplete = function(target_mc:MovieClip):Void { trace(">> target_mc._width: "+target_mc._width);[code]......
Trying to convert a project from as2 to as3. Take this simple function: Code: function add_tf(contents:String,target_clr:uint,font_size:Number,a_type:Number,a_thickness:Number,a_sharpness:Number,target_width:Number, target_height:Number) { var format:TextFormat=new TextFormat ; var tf:TextField=new TextField ; [Code] ..... How do I reference the newly created textfield into a for loop?
I'm creating a list, but want text/movieclip to have a rollover state. In the loop, how do i reference the this["show" + i].mc_show._alpha on a rollover state?
function mainSchedule() { if (loaded == filesize) { for (var i=0; i<total; i++) {
Basically, i have created a Loader class fileLoader.as into which i pass URL of the image to load from my main class and on load complete i dispatch an event from fileLoader.as class which i listen to and respond in my main application class by displaying it on the stage.All this works fine.If i go and click next button 10x, then 10 images will be loaded and displayed. However, my question now is, if i click back button to image 9, it starts loading the image again.So my question is how can i save or reference images that i have loaded already so that i can just call on them within the main application when needed and not start loading again? Can i load these images in an object or an array or just their reference?
I'm creating loaders dynamically depending on XML, which I'm loading. XML is working fine, cause I was trying to load contentPath from it to an regular loader placed directly in frame and it was working. When I'm trying to create it via actionscript it's not working and doesn't show anything.[code]...
I know this should be do-able, but i am stumped... I created a row of movie clip buttons + eventListeners (CLICK) with a for-loop. i now want to take an array that consists of a list of swfs (i.e., var myArray:Array=new Array(); myArray=["thing.swf","dog.swf",more.swf",etc}--and programmatically assign a loader + URL request to each of the created movie clip buttons that will load the swfs on the button click.
I am doing is learning flash, so what I have done is followed some tutorials and created some different images with a mask, now I trying to make them loop and I can't seem to figure out how to do it. it seems at the end of the tutorial it says I must put in a stop or the last layers do not come in to view. So I am curious as to how to get passed this problem I am having. am I doing this completely wrong?
- loop through the Grid array and place each tile on the stage
- assign RedBall a random Grid coordinate and places it on the stage at that coordinate
I want to be able to click RedBall, which will create a border around the tile beneath RedBall, and create borders around the tiles above, below, to the left and to the right. BUT, I don't want to reference the tiles by their distance in pixels from RedBall or from each other; I want to reference the tiles by their coordinates in the Grid array. So I want to:
- get the coordinates of RedBall
- use those same coodinates to reference the tile at the same coordinates in the Grid array
- use the tile's coordinates to reference the tiles above/below/left/right
- apply a border to all these tiles
What's the best way to reference an instance of a tile? Should I apply a name to each instance as it's created in the loop? like myTile.name = "tile"+i+"_"+j; ? If so, how do you reference that instance later? Just tile1_3 ? Do you have to prepend it with root, or stage, or the class it was originally created in? Do you have to use getChildByName? OR, can you still reference it later without having given it a name?
I have a simple gallery site with thumbs 'gridBtns' that show and hide content pages 'projectPages'
I have a loop that duplicates an MC (projectPageHolder) (that already exists on the stage) 20 times, simple enough. I run a trace that confirms they all exist.
In the same loop I give a different set of 20 MCs (gridBtn) an onRelease function that attempts to show and hide the projectPage MCs using _alpha, again simple enough.
For some reason the first 4 MCs disappear...they do not trace or become visible, but the rest are fine.
after it is done i would have access only to the last imageLoader instance. How to get access to the rest of images, which were added to the Display List with the same name "imageLoader".I tried to call it with the imageLoader.name property,but surely i do something wrong, as only errors appear in the output panel.
I have a horizontal scroll bar that I need to appear to loop around continuously. I've managed to get it moving on its own since the last time I posted, however the loop is proving more difficult.
The move function is here:
Code: public function movemouse() { lst.onEnterFrame = function () { var speed:Number = -1; this._x += speed;
I need to be able to make a large amount of concentric circles, using only the action script. I need to be able to alter each of these concentric circles independently from each other. Currently My code is as follows:
ActionScript Code: var circ1:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); addChild(circ1);
- loop through the Grid array and place each tile on the stage - assign RedBall a random Grid coordinate and places it on the stage at that coordinate
I want to be able to click RedBall, which will create a border around the tile beneath RedBall, and create borders around the tiles above, below, to the left and to the right. BUT, I don't want to reference the tiles by their distance in pixels from RedBall or from each other; I want to reference the tiles by their coordinates in the Grid array.So I want to:

I'v been toying with this for a few weeks now and I'm trying to find the best way to animate several instances of an object created by a for loop thru an ENTER_FRAME function.When the function runs only 1 of the 3 instances that were created animates.
var balloonArray:Array = new Array();var balloon: hotAirBalloon;var xVel: Number = -3;var yVel: Number = -4; addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, startBalloons)
