ActionScript 2.0 :: [Flash 8] Referencing Dynamic MCs Created Using AttachMovie

Dec 7, 2010

I am adding a bunch of MC's(linkage ID:buttonHolder) dynamically using a for loop and attachMovie. If I want to dynamically add an onRelease function to each of those MCs,so that each of them links to different links how would I accomplish that? here's where i've reached so far..

var depth:Number=0;
var nextY:Number=77;
for (i=0; i<5; i++)

ActionScript 2.0 :: AttachMovie Of Dynamic Created Items In MX?

Feb 23, 2004

What I want is the following. Based on an XML file and one empty movie clip, I create about 80 different items (menu items). By drag and dropping these menu items you can create a scene with objects. These objects are copies of the menu items.But I want to use the attachMovie command to have control over the path of the objects. But by creating the menu items dynamically, I cannot say in the library, export for actionscript.So my question is, how can I use the attachMovie command on items that are dynamically created.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Passing A Variable Into An MC Created With AttachMovie

Aug 12, 2007

I am creating movie clips with a for loop using attachMovie, I would like to pass a variable into the clip itself at the time of it's creation. It seems simple enough, but my little brain is imploding...

So basically I got an MC: "clip"+i, which I would like to pass a variable (from an array), for it to use on it's own timeline. I want the next clip to be able to use the next variable in the array in it's own timeline.

Actionscript 3 :: Referencing Loader After Created In Loop?

Nov 11, 2010

I am creating a loop which loadsimages to newly created loaders. After each loader completes, I'd like to pass it through another function Here's my loop of loaders where loader_names is an array of my loader names and overlay_files is an array of my file URLs

for (var j:int = 0; j < loader_names.length; j++) {
loader_names[j] = new Loader();
loader_names[j].contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
loader_names[j].load(new URLRequest(overlay_files[j]));
}

Once each image loads I want to overlay the image on a map here's a loop which does just that, only I do not know how to pass loaders into this function as they finish

function create_overlays(e:Event):void {
for (var k:int = 0; k < loader_names.length; k++) {
overlay_names[k] = new GroundOverlay(loader_names[k],
new LatLngBounds(new LatLng(46.669, -115.035), new LatLng(48.995,-112.079)));
}

ActionScript 3.0 :: Referencing Movieclip Created In Another Function?

Oct 14, 2009

wrote a couple of small games using AS 2.0. One of the things I found easiest about AS 2.0 is that a MovieClip created using _root. attachMovieClip() inside of one function was accessible to every other function. For instance:

Code:

function AddClip() {
TheClip = _root.attachMovie("Object", "TheClip"+ClipCount, _root.getNextHighestDepth(), {_x:30, _y:30})
}[code]....

This causes an error, because the MovieClip variable was declared inside of a function and when the function ended, the MovieClip variable was erased. Is there any way of doing this without declaring the MovieClip variable outside of the function? I want to be able to create an unknown amount of these movieclips on the fly, so I can't just declare them outside of the function.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Referencing A Newly Created Class Instance

Jun 16, 2011

I am completely new to actionscript although I do come from a OOP background. I have been asked to trial Flash and Actionscript 3 in particular - so I do come with a few preconceptions on how I expect actionscript to behave. I have a problem I donot understand. I have created a new class and to test it I use a simple test harness in the form of a .fla file.

The issue I have is when I create a new instance of the class and assign it to a variable, subsequent background changes to that instance of the class are not 'picked-up' when referenced through the variable. I would expect that given instance of class could be assigned to many different variables and any updates using one variable would accessible using any of the other variables.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Referencing A Field In A Dynamically Created Movie?

Jul 17, 2010

I'm using Flash 8.

I've made 18 movies in a for loop. I'm trying to modify a text field in those movies. I am unable to do so in the for loop. Something with my referencing is wrong.

The dynamic text field in each movie is named "eventText".

ActionScript Code:
_root.attachMovie(myData["loadHandler"+x]+"Movie", myData["event"+x], x, {_x:100, _y:100});
_root.myData["event"+x].eventText.text = "test";

If I hardcode the event name for testing purposes, it puts the data in correctly:

ActionScript Code:
_root.houseSale2.eventText.text = "test";

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic Access Of A MovieClip Created On Stage In Flash?

Mar 26, 2010

I am confronted with a simply yet annoying problem: I manually created a row of MovieClips inside another movieclip container_mc on the stage in the Flash CS4 Editor. The MovieClips are named in the same convention (eg. target_1_mc, target_2_mc, ...target_200_mc).

When I try to access a property of it via AS3 during runtime of the SWF like this, it works:

container_mc.target_0_mc.alpha = 0; But how do I access the MovieClip dynamically? During runtime, a script will determine of which MovieClip i need to access a property. I will get the ID number of the MovieClip I want to access. So I need to be able to to something like this:

var mc_ID:int = 2; ["container_mc.target_"+mc_ID+_mc""].alpha = 0;

Obviously, that doesn't work. When I would create all the target-MovieClips dynamically at runtime, I would simply put them in an array. But in this case I need to work with the existing MovieClips manually created in the Flash Editor.

ActionScript 2.0 :: AttachMovie Dynamic Positioning Within A CreateEmptyMovieClip

Sep 2, 2009

In the current project for my schools interactive yearbook(new development). Im trying to create a grid table within a createEmptyMovieClip, by attaching a movie clip from the library, and populating it with an external xml, that i populate a few arrays too.

As of now im just trying to get the basic portion of it down. I see it as if i can create a "page" without having to dublicate the page, then i can easly do it with the multipul pages.

In a nut shell, when i publish my fla, i only get 2 images, when i should have 23, which is the number of childNodes that are in the external XML file...

Im going to attach my souce, and i'll point out the portion that im having issues with:

stop();
import mx.utils.Delegate;
import mx.transitions.Tween;
import mx.transitions.easing.*;

ActionScript 2.0 :: Scrolling Dynamic Movie Loaded Via AttachMovie?

Sep 9, 2005

What I have is a news blogger that is loaded via xml which uses php to write to the xml file. I have my "blogger" movie clip that loads all of the different blogger info into it. It is loaded into a blank container movie clip via attachMovie and when the user adds a new blog it creates new instance of it and moves the rest down. All works great with that.

Now the problem is after the client creates more then 3 blogs, it begins to run off the site. So what I need to do is put it into a scroller. Now I have gotten it into the scroller but it seems that the scroller is not seeing the actual size of the container clip that is holding all of these instances of the "blog" movie that is loaded from attachMovie. The size will change depending on how many blogs there are and I need to figure out how to add script to calculate that. Here is the code I have to load the "blogitem" movie into the blank container movie.

Code:
var i = 0;
if (gateXML.hasChildNodes())
{
child = gateXML.firstChild;

ActionScript 2.0 :: Tweening With Dynamic Movieclip Referencing?

Oct 22, 2009

First of all: this is my first post at actionscript.org *happysound*. I'm working on this flash gallery since a couple of days and something is drinving me crazy in actionscript.

The concept: in this part of the flashfile i'm loading thumbnails in dynamicly created movieclips on stage (1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg). Everything is working fine, but now I wanted to add some fancy fading when the loading of a single thumb completes. For some reason I can not get the tweening class working and I'm sure it's a problem with the referencing to the clip. I know this cause when I change "thumb"+i to thumb1 it is working. Googled for hours without result..

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic Referencing Of Items Within MovieClip?

Feb 19, 2010

I am building a drag and drop application. I have a few items within a movie clip that are movie clips. They each have their own instance name.

I am trying to access them from the document class using 'event.target.name'.

That works and I can pick up the name of the movieclip.

I put it in a string var called tName.

Then I try to modify a property of the selected movieclip:

itemList.items.tName.x+=23;

thats when i get, 'A term is undefined and has no properties' error.

I know itemList.items.tName is the correct navigation to the clip, because if i replace the var and hard code the correct name, it works.

whats funny is my tName var is tracing out the correct name of the movieclip.

Or a better way to dynamically access mc's within mc's.
