View 1 RepliesI'm working on a drag-n-drop functionality in flex4/as3, for the first time. I use the DragManager-class, and the basic drag-and-drop stuff works now. But, how do I change the little red "reject cursor" which is displayed when i drag objects over areas where I can't drop it? I can find "rejectCursor" in the styles specification here: [URL]
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to disable the hover effects?I don't want flex to highlight the entire component for both link buttons and menu bar.On the menubar, I applied a backgroundSkin, so having flex highlight the whole menubar when the user hovers their mouse on top quitely destroys the design.
View 1 RepliesThere is a Flex app with 7 main views. And there is a memory issue when navigating between views.All these views were in a ViewStack, but due to some involving 3D objects I assumed it was too much to have it all in the display list. I'm now clearing all children from the stack and adding/removing them when needed. This gave a small performance increase, but still becomes unresponsive with use. The strange thing is, with this and the original method, the CPU climbs with use but eventually levels out somewhere. Now I'm creating new instances of each screen when they are navigated to and setting the previous variable to null. Now it looks like CPU is spiking when the view is created, but leveling out to something much much lower than it was. This felt like progress, but now the available memory keeps climbing where it wasn't before....
My understanding was calling remove child or remove all children would mark the object for deletion when the garbage collector next ran. I can't see any other references to the instance. My code is along the lines of [code]I have a function for each button to add a new instance like the above.The only thing I can see and feel silly asking but need confirmation, is each view extends a class called "Screen", this class contains a singleton reference to some core components.[code]Would this trick the garbage collector into thinking it was still needed? General advice on clearing Objects from the memory pool would awesome!!! I've never needed to analyze the Flash Player in such depth.I think it's an error with sound drivers, removing all sound and shes purring like a kitten. Works on my machine fine with windows XP, but not on the touch pad the application is crashing on with windows 7 (unsure of the drivers looking into them now) Now I'm thinking its not the drivers, tried 3 different versions, all with no improvement. I did discover the sound was fading in and out with the TweenLite lib. Doesn't look like there are any memory leaks in TweenLite as it works fine on other machines. Just the use of volumeEasingFunction seems to consume increasing amounts of CPU until it freaks out. It is crappy hardware running windows 7, which doesn't help.
After applying a numeric sort to my dataprovider(Array Collection), I can not reorder the items via a tilelist. Do I need to remove the sort from the arrayCollection. If so, is it just a case of setting collection.sort = null ?
var sortField:SortField=new SortField();
sortField.name="order";
sortField.numeric=true;
var sort:Sort=new Sort();
sort.fields=[sortField];
I have a videoDisplay object in a popup.When I remove the popup the video continues to play.How do I remove the videoDisplay object from memory?I have tried setting the variable to null but with no luck. I can just call the stop() function and forget about it but am wondering whether this won't come back and bite me.
View 1 RepliesHave a rather bizarre issue with Flex throwing an error when teh application is running in the background. I use Selenium and SeleniumFlexApi to run various tests against my app. If the browser window is in the foreground or any part of it is visible to teh screen, the test pass as expected. However, if the window is in the background and not visible, I am getting the following error in 1 part of my app.
ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller. I have a VBOX that creates a number of children and then upon creationComplete(or UpdateComplete, I've tried both) it then needs to remove any of the children that are not visible. Each child has a listener for CreationComplete which checks if the child is visible and if not, adds it to an array which is iterated over when the parent UpdateComplete is fired. I cant seem to find any reason for this behavior and am curious if its an issue with the Flex Component LifeCycle.
I have 2 arrays & 2 checkbox repeaters: the second gets populated w/ items selected from the first. I can add the items no problem. How do I then delete the item if it gets deselected from the first checkbox repeater?

Is there a way to remove the left+right+bottom border of a mx:Panel?
basically I want to have the right UI instead of the left one ( check the screenshot )
I know that the default spark Panel is able to do so, but I just need to use Flex 3.
Here is what I tried already :
padding (seems only changing the children)
borderStyle = none is removing the color of the header
I've got an Horizontal List. It contains 6 XML Nodes at the moment. But what I'd like to do is remove the scrollbar so that an button can function to scroll through the nodes instead.
View 1 RepliesWhen would you want to use removeAll() vs just new ArrayCollection when you want to clear an array collection. Remove all iterates though each item in the list. I can't see a case when I would want to use it.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to add some Sprite objects as the contents of an array, and I would like to be able to "clear" them from the stage. I would assume that if there are loaders involved, I need to do
_imgArray[i].close();
_imgArray[i].unload();
And if I am using a sprite, I can do:
removeChild(_imgArray[i]);
None of the above work.
Currently I try:
for(i = 0; i < _localXML.length(); i++) {
var tmp:BMLink = new BMLink(_localXML[i], _bw, _bh, i);
_imgArray[i] = tmp;
_imgArray[i].x = (_bw + _mainpad) * i;
_base.addChild(_imgArray[i]);
But this doesn't work.
The class instances that are populating the array are all extending sprite, but they have their own individual loaders inside w/ progress events etc.
I am doing this simple project using Flex 4 SDK and I got stuck with this simple problem: I have turned sortable property for AdvancedDataGridColumn to false, but the column header is still rendered as:
As You can see, my label for this header is "06", but the column header is divided and it keeps the place for sort arrow.
How can I change this? I would like my column header to contain only my label.
I am trying to duplicate a text field. First I get the text with a mc.getChildAt(0) and then copy all the contents into a new textfield. The problem I am having is that getChildAt removes the textfield from the movieclip it is in. How to I get the properties of the textfield without moving it? Or maybe it is something else and what I am doing is fine
var dupeTField:MovieClip = duplicateTextField($value.sourceImg.getChildAt(0));
private function duplicateTextField($textField):MovieClip

I have seen numerous examples on how to remove duplicates in ArrayCollection but I can't seem to transpose this to XMLList. In most ArrayCollection examples, the example compares the key of the array with hasOwnProperty method and return a bool. That's fine, but what would I compare to when using an XMLList? Let's say I have:

I want to iterate over an ArrayCollection in Flex while there can be items added and removed.
Since i didn't find a way to use a "classic" Iterator like in Java, which would do the job. I tried the Cursor. But it doesn't really work the way i want it to be ;) So how do I do it nicely ?
var cursor:IViewCursor = workingStack.createCursor();
while (!cursor.afterLast)

I am using Adobe Flash Builder 4 Premium. I have a mx:DataGrid and a s:TextInput, and I am trying to set up a search box that filters the DataGrid on each key press.his page shows a nearly perfect example of what I'm trying to do, except that I'm setting this up in a s:TitleWindow, which is brought up as a popup using the PopUpManager. The list I'm trying to filter can be very large. It is a list of usernames, fetched from a MySQL database via PHP. Since it can be so large, I want the list to be populated once in the main application and then referenced in the popup window so that it doesn't have to fetch all the usernames each time the user opens the popup.I have all of this working fine for the first time you bring up the popup, but if you close it and bring it up again, I get this runtime error:I also get this error if I attempt to set the filterFunction back to null just before closing the popup.See sample code below:

I'm trying to make a horizontal list of labels with a space in-between them (for use as part of a ticker tape).Labels outside of a list have a transparent background but as part of either the ItemRenderer or List, they get a white background. My assumption is that this is part of the default styling applied to a Spark ItemRenderer.Question - Is there any way to totally get rid of all default visual stylings applied to an ItemRenderer?

I have problem with casting custom event currentTarget to component. When I'm trying to removeElement from its parent container i get error. What's the deal?

I have a problem with the cartesian charts in the Adobe Flex SDK 4.5 and 4.5.1. Perhaps it's a bug, because it's not in the SDK 4.0, 4.1 and 4.6. Or it's just a problem of my code.
I made a little example project to range over series data in a CartesianChart (Line/Area/Column/Bar), a little bit like the google finance chart. When I add all series to the chart, the problem didn't occur. Only when I have multiple series and remove one or more series and than range over the data, the series data get compressed:
Chart image It seems like the horizontal axis didn't change or didn't get an update that the chart data changed, when I range over the current data.

Had someone the same problem or has an idea how to remove a series in another way?
I am communicating to an external server via a URLLoader and receiving the following warning: Warning: Domain domain name does not specify a meta-policy.Applying default meta-policy 'master-only'.This configuration is deprecated.
The provided link redirected me to another page, which didn't really explain how to remove this warning. It looks like it might involve modifying the crossdomain.xml file on the server, but I'm not sure exactly how. how to remove this warning?
I've been trying to remove duplicates from an array for a while, or even preventing them, and I'm having nothing but trouble.There's a lot of code to go through.I'm creating an array with objects inside it like so...
Code:

I have an arrayCollection with the following structure:

the AC is defined as follows:[Bindable] private var projectErrorsAC:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection;
I'm using this AC in a repeater to display each error. After each error is shown, I've placed an "Accept" and "Deny" button. Once the user clicks either one of these buttons, I'd like to call a function that removes the particular error from the AC. Here's what I have so far:

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to get tables to display using flash. Currently I have two scenes, with a table on each scene. I have buttons that switch back and forth between the scenes and each table loads fine when I run each scene individually. The problem is I have no idea how to REMOVE a table from the scene. Currently when I play the whole movie the first table that loaded stays loaded, and the second table just loads over the top of it.
Also, I get an error #1009 after I switch back and forth from one scene to the other. So first table loads fine, click button, second table loads fine, click button, error #1009. I tried commenting out the table load parts on each scene and just leaving the button code and it worked fine. Then I left the first table load sequence commented out, and it loaded the second fine, click, loaded first page fine, click, loaded second table fine again (over the top), click, error #1009.

When I click a button "boardButton" at frame 30 it will load my ext. swf pretty fine. But when I click my button "sponsorButton" at frame 50(I've more buttons) I need to remove the external file, but it won't happen. The trace of removing shows up but the ext. swf is still there...... I tried lots of things but no luck at all (two evenings spent already and no hair left)
