i have a dynamic text on my scene called testtext, in the accions i can show a text simple by testtext.text = "my content";
But now i want to do this from a class, if i copy directly the instruccion like i do normaly it doest work.
understanding the use of an external class in Flash CS5/AS3. The need is to be able to encode/decode JSON and I have found a library that sounds good at: [URL]. But Im a bit confused as all the tuts show attaching code to an object (convert to symbol, export for AS frame 1). I'm not which one is the right one for my needs. All I need to do is read the JSON data and show the output in a text box much like I would with XML.

I am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.

In Visual Studio, when we write some code, there are code hints, for property,custom method of some class that we create.There are code hints on Flash CS4, but it seems that it didn't show code hints for custom method or property on some class . Is there any way to make Flash CS4 show code hints for custom method, property and namespace that we created ?
View 2 RepliesI am developing with Flex + java + hibernate in one project. I am trying to add one more advanceddatagridcolumn in flex AdavanedDataGrid control. Actually it work very well but only except I added columns data. I have no idea what should I do to make it out I am telling work flow. At first call select method in DeliveryService.class through the RemoteObject and then call DeliveryMgr.class for call business work. After get return list type return value it pass to presentation class to setting all of the selected return value. I can print trace log what I added columns data in DeliveryPt.class but it cannot return to flex area.Strange thing is I can check out value of what I want to show data in DeliveryPt.class but it does not show up in AdvanedDataGridColumn of Flex.

I'm using Flex 3 VideoDisplay class for playing streaming video. When I drag the track slider(change the playheadTime) there are no preview frames even if that part of the video is already loaded.
Is there anything I can do to enable this feature (from the configuration of media server or in the Flex client)?
I'm trying to make a slide-show that adjusts to the width or height of the stage, and eventually, of the web browser window. I was able to load and resize a picture by writing code on the timeline, but I got the Error #1009 (Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference) when I put this slide show into another movie clip loader (which chooses between different swf pages of the website, with the purpose of keeping the swf file sizes down). By the way, my "slide-show" loads the picture fine. When I use the movie clip loader to load this "slide-show" it works too. Only when I use the Flash Player to open it, it gives me the Error 1009. I looked around on actionscript.org, and everyone seems to be recommending the folowing code (or something like it):[code]
I also ran into some information about document classes and I figure maybe I should be using document classes to make this stuff more modular and reusable. So I put my slide-show code into an .as file, importing all the flash.xxx.* classes, and put it in a package and class and constructor function... in the same directory as my swf file, and set it as the document class to a blank fla file. Then I tested it and all I got was a blank swf. This is without the Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE code. I guess I don't know how to get the document class thingy working either. So my question is, can someone tell me how I can change my slide-show code into a working document class without the Error 1009?r?[code]

When I test the movie (Simulate Download) it just simulates without showing my text with percentage complete. The only way I can get it to show, is if I add a button to click to make it show. I have a dynamic TextField that has the word "DEVICE" filled in in the flash IDE. If I compile and run, it works fine and I see the word correctly.
The problem is if I change the text at runtime. Depending on the word, it doesnt show up correctly, if I change the word to "CARD" I see it just fine, but if I change it back to "DEVICE" then it shows up as "DECE". It won't show the "V" and the "I"... I can't figure this one out since it works if I set it to "DEVICE" in the IDE, but doesn't work if I dynamically change it to "DEVICE"

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to make text disappear and appear letter by letter, so i'm using dynamic text. I've made this code which should do this, the only problem is that the text won't show up. I used trace to check what does the dynamic text box contains after the code has done it's job and it contains what it should. So I don't really understand where the problem is. I've embeded all the lowercase letters since I'm only using those... I don't know what else to add here... except the code offcourse:

Ignore all the "ifs" they just make the code do it's job when it should. And it seems that they work correctly. The first "for" cycle removes the text letter by letter and it only works if there is some text in the dynamic textbox while the second "for" adds the text letter by letter. I have the same code on two keyframes in the first layer and the the dynamic textbox on the second layer with only one keyframe.
I created a third party text movie on flash typer, the text is white and the background is black, I loaded the movie on my flash mx and it seems to work except the background is always white, so my text does'nt show up?
