Flash :: Get Number From Two Units?

Mar 22, 2011

I'm reading a signed 64 bit integer (Java long) from the network in Flash+ActionScript3, and storing it as two uint's (first and last 32 bits).

var l:LongNumber = new LongNumber();
l.msb = socket.readUnsignedInt();
l.lsb = socket.readUnsignedInt();

How can I convert it into the actual number as a Number?

I'm aware Number can contain only 53 bit integers, not 64, but it's enough (though being able to throw an Error when converting larger numbers would be nice).

Flash :: Actionscript - Synchronizing 2 Sound Channels?

Sep 9, 2011

I am using 2 sound channels to play 2 separate, externally loaded mp3 files at the same time. Right now I have the play button tied to a function that starts the first mp3, then the 2nd. The problem is - the 2nd mp3 starts a few milliseconds after the first. Is there a way that I can make sure these 2 start playing at the exact same time?

Flash :: Flex - Benifits/cons For Multi-player Servers For A AIR Game?

Jul 13, 2011

I have an air application that I'd like to turn into a multi-player game. I'd like to have 2-40 concurrent connections per "room". We would like to have 1-10 rooms going at once in the beginning. I'd like for users to be able to share voice and video but that's not a requirement.

Users will be racing each other based on data that's updated once every second, so ping doesn't have to be super low. 1000ms would be fine but lower is preferred.[URL]..

Cirrus looks perfect. I've heard some problems about firewall and port settings, but was wondering if anyone had experience with at home users and Cirrus. Another problem is that it's been in labs for ever. You can get RTMFP with Flash Media Server Enterprise but that's like 60k-70k per processor, way out of our price range. I've also looked at [URL] but it doesn't support RTMFP. I know we can host this on AWS and maybe save some money.

There is an open source project (cumulus) that implements RTMFP too but I've read that it's more of a POC then a production ready project. The license is also GPL which doesn't work for our commercial application. I've also looked at[URL].. but again, no RTMFP integration.The reason I like RTMFP is because we can scale without a lot of server cost. I know it's a closed protocol from Adobe and it looks like wowza or red5 won't be implementing it any time soon.

Is there an affordable (not 70k per processor) server tech for multi-player gaming that you can use with AIR/Flash that scales well?

ActionScript 1/2 :: Flash Game - Putting Each Armor And Update On A Different Frame Inside The Player Movieclip?

Jan 29, 2011

I am trying to create my first semi-serious flash game. The problem I am having is I want to be able to click a button in the players inventory to equip a different armor to the player, and have that armor work in the game on the same movieclip(Player) without having to re-make all the attacks and moves etc. for each change on another movieclip. My ideas are extremely novice like putting each armor and update on a different frame inside the Player movieclip and then doing a gotoAndStop to the frame. Though that may work I don't know how to goto a frame inside a movieclip. I would like to control this using as much code as possible.I would paste my code but I don't have any code for this part of the game so far. I have tried some simple coding but so far I cannot get the pieces together.

Flash :: Synchronizing Sound - Sound Gets Terrible As Time Passes?

Jan 31, 2010

It appears my sound is off sync and the longer I play the movieclip, the farther off sync it goes. Its nothing too complicated, just some basic shooting sounds that fire every time I hit the space bar. My code is below:

package com.objects{

import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.media.Sound;
import flash.media.SoundChannel;[code]....

The Attack() method gets called from another class that handles all keyboard controls.when it gets called the sound then plays.firesound and firesound2 are almost the same. firesound2 sounds a little off pitch to make it sound more realistic.At first the sound sounds pretty good, not great. but then it gets terrible as time passes.

I made a new .fla project. and I attached the following class to it by it self. so the following is the only code in the entire .fla project and the issue still occurs. I press the spacebar and the sound starts a day late.

package {
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.events.*;[code]......

ActionScript 3.0 :: Structuring A MovieClip Into Units That Are Loaded To A Different Time

Dec 16, 2009

itīs clear to me that I can load external SWF-Movies and other stuff like Bitmaps, Sounds etc. But how is it with the differentDisplayObejcts in the swf-root.

My specific problem: For a numerous mask-effected MovieClip-Field, the Constructor inside  an external class creates 3 Instances of different DisplayObjects in every loopcycle. First, the masked Object, then the mask (simply a black movieclip without code) and then, to seperate the masking from the Main-Class, a object container which contains the previously mentioned two Objects.

After creating the instances, they should brought into their Relationship on the DisplayList and added to Stage.

My Problem is: I think, the instancing of these many objects will take some time. Is there an Even-Listener and an Event, that checks if the Instancing was successfull and is ready be to displayed? Or do I have to create a boolean variable complete to my Constructor Funtion in the instanced object, that is set true after the end of the procedure? A loop in the Parent DisplayObject would check the value of the attribute and if it is set true, it will all add to the DisplayList and stage. Are there alternatives?

Android :: H.264 Real-time Streaming Timestamp In NAL Units?

May 10, 2011

I'm trying to build a system that live-streams video and audio captured by android phones. Video and auido are captured on the android side using MediaRecorder, and then pushed directly to a server written in python. Clients should access this live feed using their browser, so the I implemented the streaming part of the system using flash. Right now both video and audio content appear on the client side, but the problem is that they are out of sync. I'm sure this is caused by wrong timestamp values in flash (currently I increment ts by 60ms for a frame of video, but clearly this value should be variable).

The audio is encoded into amr on the android phone, so I know exactly each frame of amr is 20ms. However, this is not the case with video, which is encoded into H.264. To synchronized them together, I would have to know exactly how many millisecs each frame of H.264 lasts, so that I can timestamp them later when delivering content using flash. My question is is this kind of information available in NAL units of H.264?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Synchronizing MP3 Sound With Animation

Mar 10, 2011

I am a beginner using AS3 and working on an eLearning lesson using a Flash animation as a breathing exercise. The animation works well, but I need to synchronize 2 breathing sounds with the inhale-exhale animation cycles.I can import the inhale.mp3 and exhale.mp3 into the library. But then, I am not sure how to control play so that when the animation's inhale cycle is displaying (circle on stage expands for a time using a variable for duration, in microseconds: _inhaleDuration), the inhale.mp3 plays until the _inhaleDuration completes. After the inhaling animation, the animation cycle has a brief pause (no sound), then the animation displays the circle contracting for the time in the variable, _exhaleDuration, during which time I need the exhale.mp3 to play its breathing sound. Each sound needs to be synchronized to play only as long as the animation inhale or exhale duration.

I've been reading about sound files online and trying to figure out how to control play by duration using these 2 variables (_inhaleDuration, _exhaleDuration) but so far have not found this. So, I'm stuck and hope someone can provide suggestions, sample AS3 script, so I can add this feature to the animation's Tween function, that expands and contracts the circle, so it also has sounds.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Make A Binary Countdown Clock - Use It Individual Units Of Time

Dec 21, 2004

I would like to make a binary countdown clock now. I followed senocular's tutorial on making a countdown timer, but it didn't work. How to make a countdown timer, and if possible make it use individual units of time, not just milliseconds, for the calculations. The problem with his tutorial that keeps me from changing the code to fit my needs is that it converts the numbers into a string and changes the numbers accordingly. I need to change the alpha of an mc depending on if the number goes into the binary form of the time left until the event.

When I made my clock, I knew that the time could never go under 1:00:00, and never over 23:59:59. All I did was made each "light" check what the value was, and if it needed to be "on" or "off", and then changed it accordingly. The code in each "light" is about 115 lines. Imagine making a check for each value if the event date is a year away! I can't attach a *.fla for my clock, because it is too big, but it's located here.

Java :: Platform For Web-based Multi-player Game?

Sep 28, 2010

I'm developing a web-based fantasy football game. Most of the game is a straight-forward web application built on top of Linux/Apache/Php/MySQL.

I'm trying to figure out how to implement the draft application. The draft date and time will be scheduled in advance by each league's owner. Up to 32 users may be logged on for a given league's draft, and there is no limit to how many drafts may be happening concurrently. The users will take turns selecting players, and each user's turn will have a time limit. I'd like for all the users to be able to see whose turn it is, how much time that user has left to select a player, who they select, and which players are still available. If there are users in the league who are not logged in during the draft I'd like to be able to detect that and automatically assign players to them rather than waiting for the time to run out on their turn. Ideally I'd also like to have a chat window so the users could chat with one another during the draft.

My background is in desktop application development, so if necessary I could write server code in C#/.NET or Java. As far as I can see these are the options: PHP/AJAX - It seems like it would be possible to have all the state for the draft in the database and have the operations for the draft run in PHP triggered by requests from the clients? I guess in this case the draft doesn't start until at least one user logs in, and it seems like it would be a lot of polling requests to the server if I want everyone notified quickly when a user makes a selection.
