Actionscript 3 :: Use Flash To Play A Sound Track From Different Files Seamless?

I have some audio files on my http server, and I would like to write a Flash client in ActionScript3 to load those audio file and play them smoothly. Of course I can just create a Sound object and load it by .load() with a URL request. But for saving the bandwidth, I prefer to load audio file chunks on demand. For example, there is an audio file let's say 100MB. If we try to load as fast as possible when user open the page

The downloading may finished within minutes, but let's say, if user stop listener in halfway, that's kind of waste to load whole soundtrack at first.

To solve the problem, I think it's better to split the big audio file into small chunks, load and play them on demands.

<--- 10MB ---><--- 10MB ---><--- 10MB ---> ...
^--- user current position

I want to design the player, let it load audio chunk by chunk, and only load it when it's near the end of current chunk.

How to load those chunks and play them smoothly? I can probably create Sound object for each chunks. But how to play them seamless?

I'm having some trouble getting Haxe to play audio files in Flash 8.At the top of my hx file, I have:import flash.MovieClip;import flash.Sound;and, within the class itself, I preload a lot of image files along with the names of the audio files.The idea is to do a slideshow with audio content. Basically, display the first slide and play the audio associated with it.Then, once that audio is finished, move on to the next slide and next audio file. I have the slides fading in and out okay but when I tried to add sound, nothing comes out the speakers.The following code is what I'm doing - the sound file associated with audios[0] never starts playing and I'm at a loss as to why.

I'm working on a game that loops a random sound file everytime the user goes to the menu. When I tried the simulate download in the preview menu, it took a long time to load the first frame (which is a preloader). I found the problem was that in the linkage for the sound files I said "Export on first frame" so i unchecked that box, but then when I tried playing again, the sound wouldn't load.So, I'm wondering, is there a way to play sound files through ActionScript without having to load them on the first frame?

I could create a program for him in flash which would be able to play sounds corresponding to keys on the keyboard, but split in to 3 groups, and only 1 sound from each group can be playing at a time. I don't know that much about as3, and I told him this but said I would try anyway. I am using an addChild() method to place an intro MovieClip into a website. It has a short ten second musical track. I also have a skip intro button on the stage which does a removChild(). I keep trying to write code that will also stop the sound, which continues to play. I tried loading the sound separately and used the channel.stop(); So far nothing is working. On the first page, my player begins to play like a radio show. i have different sections which are all individual tracks. the player works and plays each track when i manually press next or previous...but it doesn't automatically play through all the tracks. instead it pauses after the first track and i have to manually press next.

Seamless Integration Between Illustrator And Flash?

I stayed out of the picture as long as I could ..because Ifigured there would be confusion and consternation as Adobe assimilated Macromedia's products.Here I am with Adobe Illustrator and Flash CS3,and the disconnect between the two is astonishing! I'll attribute some of my unfamiliarity to my recent involvement with Flash, but still,the vector pen tools operate soooo differently. Furthermore,selected anchor points are black in Illustrator and hollow in Flash polar opposites! The respective tool bars look similar, but often the selected tool behaves in a distinctly different manner, and the palette serves up dissimilar options.

Go the path of least resistance. I'll do my vector work in Illustrator, my workhorse tool of choice,then paste or import into Flash. But then gradients look like poo.Pfffff. (If anyone knows,what IS the problem with Illustrator-to Flash gradients. Is it that Flash Player is still too heavily based on Macromedia technology? i.e. the PostScript is OK but FlashPlayer doesn't render it well?)So, enough rant ...

What are the chances that Illustrator and Flash are better aligned in CS4, at least as far as object compatibility and similaar vector pen tool behavior? I can probably deal with the rest.

It's possible to play a sound file through AS, either by loading it from a folder or import it to flash. It's also possible to play a dynamic tone with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat.

But... is it possible to play a sound file with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat in some way? I want to play a sound file without having to deal with any files except the .swf!

I'm having a little issue with the sound on my flash website. The way my site is set up so far is that after the preloader, i have an enter site page that holds there until the user clicks on the "enter site" button. Once they click that button it takes them to the site. I would like to add 2 different sound files to this. One file for the enter site that loops over and over until the user enters the site and then that sound file will stop and the other sound file will start.

When I tried this I could not get the first sound file to quit playing once you enter the site. So basically when I am on the "enter page" it's playing the looping file fine but when I click "enter site" it plays the other audio file on top of the one looping. I hope this makes sense.
