Actionscript 3 :: Arrays - Flex 4 Converting Array.length Into A String
Mar 5, 2012
I am trying to assign a number to a variable that is dynically generated from a binded array...when i try and assign it and trace it out nothing happens, which means I am obviously doing something wrong but I am not sure? just for fun i decided to bind the data to a label like so...
I want to format the currentTime displayed by a videoPlayer component inside flex, something like : 8230.999 to something like 01:59:59:999 which is "hours:minutes:seconds:milliseconds". I tried different sets of codes but they can't get it to work because currentTime is nor a correct milliseconds time as it adds a floating 3 digit point to seconds; So instead of : 2000ms it outputs 2.000
Here's the current MXML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:fx="[URL]" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600"> <fx:Script> [Code] .....
I've faced a problem converting an Object into String in flex . my object is mydropdown selecteditem and I want to convert it to string and show it on a label tag . I've tried ".toString()" and "as String" and "String()" but none of them worked
Let's say I have array foo and a positive integer y, where foo.length > y.I want to remove elements from foo so that foo.length becomes y (or very close to it).Also, I need to preserve the first and last element of foo. The indices of the removed elements must be spaced apart as equally as possible. Foo can be sliced, or it can be used to create a new array.
Example: if foo = [a,b,c,d,e,f,g,1,2,3,4,5] and y = 6, then trimmedfoo could be [a,c,e,g,2,4,5] or maybe [a,c,e,2,4,5], but not [a,c,e,g,2,4] because the last element of foo is missing.
I am currently pulling data from an s3 storage account. S3 has a flat file structure but gives the impression that the files are stored in directories. how do I convert this String[]
I am using grails to render the data as JSON for a flex application using an Advanced Datagrid and need a tree like structure, as if you were browsing files on your desktop.
I'm just learning so I'm sure I'm making many stupid errors. How do you hitTest 2 separate arrays of different lengths, all entries against one another . Code below for guidance.
I know that an ArrayCollection is a wrapper over an Array, but what I wanted to know is when to choose one over the other? Will the over usage of ArrayCollections result in performance?
I am attempting to build an array of arrays that will with the following syntax. My output is definitely not what I am trying to achieve. Here is my code:
[Code]...
My output is coming out as 6 references to "Set3". There is obviously something wrong with my for loops, but I can't figure it out.
Basically, I have a FLVplayer called vidPlayer and 3 dynamic text fields that put text in when they are clicked. I want to be able to keep the button clicked in the 'over' state, and to do this I believe arrays are needed? Also, an array might be easier, as there is a lot of code to sift through. below is the code for the buttons in my flv;
I have a chart and am trying to display the "volume" in a line chart as the primary series & the "temp" as a column chart as the secondary series...(the "compound" will be shown in the datatip):
[{date=Tue Feb 08 19:00:00 EST 2011, volume=1200, 1={temp=-50, compound=helium}, 0={temp=-45, compound=oxygen}}]
I can get the "volume" series to display fine, but cannot get the "temp" series to display...how do I access them? Right now I have:
I want to compare one value against all values in the other array and extact a match. These are different in length.
Imagine one column of unsorted ID's and one column of ID's and names. I came up with this, but it doesn't work.
private function mergeCollections():void { for (var k:int = 0;k <= idArray.length;k++) {
[Code].....
my arraycollections arrive from database.
The real thing I'm doing here is recieve values from a table full of ids and a table full of those ides, plus the name (they are separate because, normalization dude!) And I want to put them inside a datagrid that will only display the name.
I say possibly unsorted because the second column might reach a point of several deletes and inserts and might end up unsorted. But for this case I have one unsorted column against one sorted column.
My current output is just one name printed, and the rest dismissed completely.
NOTE: Also take in account that the nameArray has always MORE or EQUAL values to the ID table. and the Id table will always have values that match the names table.
I am running into some trouble adding an array into another array to create a multi-dimensional array.The code appears as below:
var slideDataArray:Array = new Array(); var slideShowDataArray:Array = new Array(); slideDataArray[0] = xmlData.SlideShowParameters.SlideShowImagesDirectory;[code]........
I am looking for a means of placing the slideDataArray into a 'slot' or value of slideShowDataArray so that I can in the end pass the slideShowDataArray as a parameter to another function.As of now, the last slideDataArray appears 11 times (the loop runs 11 times) in slideShowDataArray and the way the code is written the slideDataArray is unique every iteration of the loop.
I have problems defining indexed array with actionscript. The task is following. I have a board of point objects. I need to store them into one array, so I can access each point using simply it x,y coordinates. for example to get point one I want to be able use points[1][1], etc. I read the doc here [URL], and realized that I don't understand how to initialize array for my needs. (Especially when it can contain from 10 to 15 rows and columns, so it will be quite hard to use following notation: masterTaskList[0] = ["wash dishes", "take out trash"];, as suggested in docs.) What I am doing is:
Basically, I have a FLVplayer called vidPlayer and 3 dynamic text fields that put text in when they are clicked. I want to be able to keep the button clicked in the 'over' state, and to do this I believe arrays are needed? Also, an array might be easier, as there is a lot of code to sift through.
Below is the code for the buttons in my flv; Select all//video player script function fenwick(event:MouseEvent):void{ vidPlayer.source = "flvs/adver/Fenwick.flv"; }function moneyshopGold(event:MouseEvent):void{ vidPlayer.source = "flvs/adver/MS_Liquid_Gold.flv"; [Code] .....
I am trying to find out what the max length is for a string because since as3 doesnt provide any methods for removing characters from a string by changing the initial string itself, i am going to have to stick to re-initializing.I did a little test to see how long it would take for my program to break using the following code:
Actionscript Code:
+[code]..............
The program crashed at a string length of about 500 million.
EDIT:however before it crashed,it performed the incrementations with reasonable performance.
EDIT EDIT: which is strange since my ram still had over 2 gig the program didnt use
im trying to use array.length to get the total indexs of the array, before running a loop on all of thoes indexs when i attempt to do this(i added a few extra things for the sake of debugging and understanding)
ActionScript Code: var selectcharacternames:URLVariables = new URLVariables(evt.target.data); trace(selectcharacternames)[code]....
does array.length not work with url variables is it possible to turn url variables into a array(im assuming it is not a array as a reason why this doesnt work)
I am working on the following code and I keep getting a cut off at around the 'C' of Dave's computer.I know this is going to be a simple answer but I for the life of me cannot figure out HOW to extend the string visual field. I am pretty sure the secret lies in the variable len.
Code:
import flash.text.TextField; import flash.events.Event; var txtFld:TextField = new TextField();
