I want to check my AIR application is running in my system first time or not. Most of my searching lead to one answer that to write a file out side and check the file existing or not. But my requirement is different and if re install the same version again, then it should be a first run.

View 2 RepliesI am having two flash applications on a same web page. Lets say one is already accessing the camera, then if i click on the second application, it will directly start using the camera. I dont want this. I need to check if any other flash application is already accessing the camera in the same web page. Let me tell you that we cant use Camera.getCamera() and check if the camera==null, this wont work, since the camera is available.
View 2 RepliesI have a typical web application that communicates in the following way: SWF file makes service calls to Java services (Remote object, over BlazeDS on Tomcat), which in turn communicates to database.
How do I implement a status check service (hosted on another domain) that will check if the ENTIRE app is up and running? Ideally, I'd make checker SWF that would load App SWF and called its function that would return something from the database (a naive service would count rows in table and hash it with MD5), but security constrains won't let me call loaded SWF's function.
Checking the java services only is not enough, as I am not checking the status of the SWF.
I have a flash application which consist of Grid Components, Button, Label, and Combo-box Components. All these components are used more than 70 times(simultaneously) with in the application. So Its takes too much of memory. So How can I test the memory usage of each component at the time of running. Is there any plug-in available for browsers to find the memory usage. I'm using flash CS3 and ActionScript 3.0. The application suppose to run in browsers.

Check exists in the libary (but does not have an instance name) and no where else on the stage. when I run this code I get: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method Check. -> var rightCheck = new Check(); How is it undefinded if it exists in the libary?

This is a quiz application that gets the questions and answers to each questions from a ColdFusion web service. There are three types of questions, True or False, Multiple Choice with single selection, and Multiple Choice with multiple selections. So, based upon the question type, the application would dynamically generate the appropriate amount of radio buttons or check boxes for the users to select. I got these working. The problem that I am having is, I am not sure how to check what the users have actually selected. In some other forums and posts on other web site, it said that I can use event.currentTarget.selectedValue to get the user selection. But when I actually do it, I got a run-time error saying, "Property selectedValue not found on mx.controls.FormItem and there is no default value." My question is, what do I need to do to capture the user selections?

We have an application that works no problems on our server with FMS in test mode. As soon as we enter our FMS license key we get this error: "application is not a valid signed application loading access denied".We removed the license key and it works again, but with user limits obviously, so this is not an acceptable fix.

In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?

View 1 RepliesI have an AIR app that gets bundled with XML files that the app needs. These get put into the APP Storage Directory, of course. Works great. But when I install a new version ( which includes new XML files) , the new files don't get added or overwrite the ones from the previous version. It seems that if that directory is there from a previous install, the installer will ignore the part where it moves included files.

I have a native (Obj-C, standard Xcode project) application and I'd like to integrate a partners iOS application (or specifically, it's functionality) into it as just another view in my application. The problem is that their application is a Flex/Air app. I really don't understand the Adobe compilation process on how it gets from a bunch of flex code down to an IPA. I don't see intermediate projects, shared objects, etc on the disk to produce that IPA. It looks like it doesn't rely on the Apple tool chain... as I understand it, you can produce the IPA on Windows as well. Is there any way to build that Flex app in such a way that I can import it into Xcode so I can link against it and use it as a library from within my application? While I specifically used iOS as an example since that is the most important platform, we'll want to apply this solution to our respective Android and Blackberry 6 apps as well.

The remote app is written in VB 6, and does not support XML sockets. However, I don't need the ability to send or receive XML since I am going to be overriding the onLoad() event anyway.
Or maybe I do need that ability... I'm having trouble getting my onLoad() event to trigger. Right now I'm just testing the onLoad event like this:

So, basically I'm trying to find out how I can format the data I'm sending it so that the onLoad() event triggers. I've read that the XMLSocket object listens for the Null byte, so perhaps the data I'm sending it doesn't terminate properly. I need a persistent connection from Flash to the VB app because the VB app will be the one initiating the updates to the Flash application. Is the XMLSocket the way to go here, or is there another class of objects that I'm missing?

View 12 RepliesI have an AIR application with a system tray icon. When clicked it shows and activates the app. This is working as expected when the app is hidden (docked), however if I select another application so my app is in the background clicking on the system tray icon does nothing.
Oddly I also have a contextual menu on the system tray icon, which has an option to restore, this calls the same event handler as ScreenMouseEvent.CLICK, yet works.
I expect it's something to do with the contextual menu changing the focus, perhaps it's a bug in how AIR works with the system tray, perhaps it's just something I'm missing. Would be good to know if that's the case.
I've been trying to launch a separate Air Application through my current Air Application.Both apps are compiled using the Adobe Air 2.0 SDK. The methods I have found so far involve passing the Publisher ID in addition to the Application ID, but I believe the Publisher ID became redundant past Air 1.5.3? Below is my current implementation whic seems to correctly ascertain the Air Application's version number, but when I try to launch it, nothing seems to happen.

I have changed the app-config.xml (app descriptor) on the application I am trying to load to allow browser invocation.The version number of the app descriptor of my application I am trying to load is "V1" which the versionDetectCallback seems to pickup. If this is the case I would expect to be able to launch it but this doesn't seem the case.
I'm trying to connect a AS2(swf on Flash player using Flash CS4) and AS3(swf on AIR using Flash Builder 4), but I get an error when I send a command from the AIR app:

I have looked through the site, but may be searching for the wrong thing or terms.Is it possible to get an application wide audio stream from an AIR application?I am trying to create a local audio file containing everything (all channels) played in an AIR app.I have tried using the SoundMixer.computeSpectrum() function, but it returns a bytearray (size 2480) full of zeros... It looks like it isn't reading the audio data correctly... I am playing a swf loaded using a SwfLoader and it is playing the sound out..
