Actionscript 3 :: GotoAndStop() On The Timeline Of A Loaded SWF?
Sep 30, 2011
I'm working on a new ad unit called a Filmstrip for NineMSN (demo here) which basically loads in 5 SWFs vertically. Only one of these 5 is visible at a time (with the exception of a a portion of two SWFs between UP and DOWN transitions.What I'm trying to achieve is ensure that when the user clicks on UP or DOWN, the SWF you scroll to will be playing from the beginning.How can I target the main timeline of an SWF loaded as per below and call gotoAndStop() on this?
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
loader.y = index * 600;
loader.load(
I am trying to "gotoAndStop" on a frame in a nested timeline from the main timeline, but can't seem to figure out the correct way to write it with it's 'parents' etc... this is how I have tried which makes sense to me (have tried other ways too) but no success.
I want to tear my hair out and cry! I've just upgraded to CS4 and am trying to create a simple swf that consists of a root timeline with various frames, each labelled 'home', 'bio' & 'contact'. There are buttons on the stage with instance names and then on the first frame of my root timeline I have the following code (as well as the _root.stop() as actionscript on the labelled frames):
Either the search function isn't working or no one has asked this but in all of my googling and section, I cannot find an answer to what seems to be an easy question. I have a nested movie clip. In the last frame of this movie clip I have a button that I want to gotoAndStop(21); to the main timeline but cannot figure it out. I have read this question asked several times while googling and not one answer surprisingly.
I have tried xxxx.gotoAndStop(21); with xxxx being parent, _parent, _main etc but there must be some way to do this I would think. If not via button then even just an action at the last frame that says to mainTimeline.gotoAndStop(21); Obviously mainTimeline is not correct but to give another example.
I want to make the timeline go to the next frame (ie gotoAndStop) only if two button instances are invisible. For the buttons I have scripted an on(release) to make them invisible, but I don't know how to use the if function to make my animation progress when they are both invisible.
I have a movie clip on the stage and have given it the instance name "team1". inside this movie clip there are two states. at frame1 it says one thing, then at frame 10 has an image. team1 stops at frame 1 and what i want to do is when the main time line reaches say frame 50, i want the team1 movie clip to gotoAndStop at frame 10, thus showing the image and not the text. i tried doing it by putting this on the main timeline at frame 50: team1.gotoAndStop("team");
I have a main timeline with a button. I need the action for this button to gotoAndStop to a frame within a movieclip, within another movieclip. I have tried on the main timeline setting the actions of the button to:
on (release){ clip1.clip2.gotoAndStop("frame1"); }
and tried:
on (release){ _root.clip1.clip2.gotoAndStop("frame1"); }
lastly:
on (release){ _parent.clip1.clip2.gotoAndStop("frame1"); }
If I double-click on the movie clip (clip1) and then double-click on the movie clip (clip2), I have several frames labeled "frame1", "frame2", etc.The button doesn't work.
I'm loading an external swf into a project and I want to be able to start and stop the loaded swfs timeline at will.... I'm loading swf into an MC: loadMovie("myFile.swf", swfHolder_mc);
I have a container SWF that loads other SWF's onto the stage using the load() method. I also am trying to access the MainTimeline of these SWF's using Event.INIT and a function and then telling that function that if the MovieClip, "clip", which is the loaded SWF is at currentFrame>=2 then do something.I can't get any response (not even trace responses)unless I specify "if(clip.currentFrame==1)". How can I get the container SWF to see past the first frame of the loaded Movie Clip? I suspect that I should be using ENTER_FRAME instead of INIT, but if I do that the Movie Clip appears and suddenly disappears without staying on the stage.
Below is a common block of code to load an external swf (simplified for this example). My problem lies in the function at the end where I'd like it gotoAndPlay('playthis') within the swf that just loaded. I get errors like cant reference static type loader etc.
Code: var graphicLocal:Sprite = new Sprite(); addChild(graphicLocal); graphicLocal.x = 0; graphicLocal.y = 60; var graphicLoader:Loader = new Loader(); [Code] .....
At this point the external swf has successfully loaded and now I want to tell it to go to and play a specific frame. I've tried variations of graphicLocal.gotoAndPlay('playthisframe') but cant get it right. Keep getting a "cant reference static type loader" error.
I have a simple swf called site.swf that loads a menu with UILoader called menu.swf, from menu I'm able to navigateToURL but I also need that it goes to frame 50 in menu.swf.
I just poked around google as well as these forums, but the only answer I am seeing that was successful, is from kglad, and for some reason his posts are not showingAnyway, I am just trying to figure how to reference a frame label on my main timeline from a loaded swf (through my imageLoader).
I have a project I'm working on where the user is presented with an overhead shot of a building and is able to mouse-over the different rooms to choose one to "enter." Once clicked, the chosen room is an external .SWF that is loaded that has options to view other external .SWFs within that room. Problem is, within the first loaded .SWF, I have a "home" button that is supposed to take the viewer back to the main overhead view but I can't get the AS to work. I've tried _parent and _root with no luck (not sure I even typed out right code).
I have a swf that loads an external swf. I want the external swf, (the one that was just loaded), to interact with the timeline of the swf that just loaded it. I've been trying MovieClip(root). or MovieClip(parent). but they give me errors. How should I use as3 in the external swf so that it interacts correctly with the parent?
this is the scenario:main class loads a lot of SWF, each with a timeline streaming sound (need this way for sync with animation) I need to access swf-sound peaks to control volume of a main class dynamic loaded mp3.
all loaded swf are added to main swf as "Page" class that extends MovieClip
I have a two swf files, whic are loaded using ths code as an example:
stop(); var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("Enchilada_A.swf");var loader:Loader = new Loader(); function imageLoaded(event:Event):void { ldContainerB.addChild(loader);}
I have a loaded swf file that is a short animated intro I am using he addChild method. I wold like it to simply move the timeline to a label "menu" after it has played. This is the cde on my main Timeline:
stop();import flash.display.*;import flash.events.Event;import flash.media.SoundMixer; var Xpos:Number=0;
I'm using a textfield for debug information.I'm loading an swf on the main timeline and I'm showing the status in the debug textfield.[code]I'm loading a png file in the loaded swf. , I'm trying to show the status of the png file as I showed the status of the swf.[code]I can't control the main swf from inside the loaded swf. Even gotoAndStop or calling a function doesn't work.Do I need to add something when I load the swf, saying it's a MovieClip or something?URL...
I'm working on a as3 player which loads swf like videos/chapters, inside them I have images and a level where a sound starts to play at frame 1.I'm trying to stopping the sound of the loaded swf when I change it with a previous or later loaded file but nothing seem to work.[code]the timeline sound works without notice the SoundMixer method.
I am publishing an animation which needs to dispatch events from certain frames on the timeline. The document class is InteractiveAnimation - here's the important bit:[code]When I load it into my player application (into the same ApplicationDomain, I might add) all I get is:"Running constructor of InteractiveAnimation" the timeline trace doesn't happen. Or any other timeline code for that matter.What is killing the framescripts? Has anyone even got any suggestions as to how I might continue to track this down?
If I have a movieclip in my library with some animation on the timeline and actions as well (stops, calls to other methods, etc.) and at runtime I add this clip to the display list, everything works as expected. The actions in the timeline of said clip are fired.If however, I load this file into another swf all the actions in the movieclip are ignored.Attached is a demonstration of this behavior. simply runnning Child.swf on it's own will show nothing as there is a stop on the first frame of the attached clip. However run the Shell.swf (which loads Child.swf) and you'll see the animation of the movie clip. There are no calls anywhere telling anything to start playing. What's worse, the method call further down the timeline and the stop and the end of the timeline are also ignored. Compiling these files and looking at the Output window, you'll see the trace from the method "__testCall" is never fired.Is this a bug with the Flash Player?I've had to use addFrameScript as an alternative to actually having the actions on the timeline. lame.
I have a question about accessing functions or variables on the main timeline from a loaded swf. I know that there are a few ways to do this
1. Casting the timeline as a movie clip Loader SWF Script var testText:String = "Test"; var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); loadData("loaded.swf"); function LoadData(aURL){ myLoader.load(new URLRequest(aURL)); addChild(myLoader); }
2. Cast the timeline as a generic object var parentObj:Object = this.parent as Object; parentObj.unloadSWF("loaded.swf") Why can you not just reference the main timeline of the container swf directly.
I'm loading a lightbox as an image gallery, but I'm working on changing it to full flash. My site is structured with external swfs. I ran into a barrier, because I'll need to load the images (and reference the stage size) in the root timeline, but I don't know how. MovieClip(root) only references the smaller loaded swf's main timeline.
I've loaded a clip (with a stop() and a trace() on the first frame) in my main swf but somehow when it's loaded and added on the stage it neither stops nor do the trace command, here's my code:
i have a simple swf called site.swf that loads a menu with UILoader called menu.swf, from menu i'm able to navigateToURL but i also need that it goes to frame 50 in menu.swf..
