Actionscript 3 :: Internal And Custom Namespaces - Get The Error: 1116?

I have the following packages.Within spark I have a class SeCore; and within spark.engine I have SeStepper and SeKeyboard.What I'm trying to achieve is have SeCore as being the only class that can create an instance of SeStepper or SeKeyboard. This can be achieved by moving SeCore into the spark.engine package and making the other two classes internal, but I'd like to have SeCore in the spark package if possible.I've tried making my own namespace to handle this, like so:
package spark.engine
{
import spark.namespaces.spark_core;[code].........
However I get the error: 1116: A user-defined namespace attribute can only be used at the top level of a class definition.

Can methods declared with a custom namespace be overwritten?

If I try the above I get "1004: Namespace was not found or is not a compile-time constant." If I remove override I get "VerifyError: Error #1053: Illegal override of test in Extended."

Given this:public namespace foo;foo var bar:String = "baz";We can access the property "bar" like so:[code]It gives me the following error: ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property foo::bar not found on MyClass and there is no default value.On further inspection of the foo namespace I can see (in the debugger) that the URI is in the format {package}:{type}/{name}. I don't have compile time access to the namespace, but I can look up it's uri (and prefix) dynamically at run time.

I am currently trying to move one of my AS2 projects over to as3 for a school project. The problem I am having is that my as2 project declares variables on the keyframe that are used on that frame only, the following frames declare the same variables for their own operations.. IE (Score = 0). The problem with as3 is that I am getting namespace errors and how to stop it. this is a puzzle game created originally in as2.. for the first level of the game the keyframe has this code on it to declare the variables to be used for the first level ONLY

I'm trying to streamline my error reporting for internal testing. When I use URLLoader/URLRequest to load a page that responds with the 500 HTTP status code, I catch it with the IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, but can't find a way to get the response body. Unlike with Event.Complete, loader.data (My URLLoader) is an empty string.
Yes, I can use Fiddler/Firebug to get the actual response, but this would be good to catch intermittent/hard-to-reproduce errors when I don't have these running.

I am developing an application where the user chooses the game he wants to play. In my main timeline I have a different layer for each game(movie clip). Movie clips - games - have some common function/variable names with totally different implementation.
When I try to compile I get the :

I unchecked 'Automatically declare stage instances' option on stage settings.There are 30 errors of this kind and there will be 6-7 games so coming up with different names will be a real pain.

i dont know if its me but have things got alot more complicated? i have made 4 .swf's that all work fine individually. i have 4 scenes that each .swf is to load into and play in turn when the main movie loads in.before the loadmovie code was:
stop();
unloadMovieNum(2);
loadMovieNum("fcbp01.swf", 2);
now however i have been advised to use:

I keep getting "An internal application error occurred" when I put in my video. (MPG) Running Windows XP The Encoder at work does not work but the Encoder at my house does.

I already have a couple discussions active regarding some duplicate script troubles I am having, but felt I needed to start a new one... I have two slideshows inside of one Flash site. I have been receiving "duplicate function definitions" all over the place as a result of both slideshows having similar script. I've managed to remedy most of these with some different naming devices. But I am not sure how to get around this latest....
The latest is a 1151 error "A conflict exists within definition xmlReq in namespace internal." for the clearing that up, Flash! These are the two conflicting lines of script - which reside in separate "label" sections actions layers - below. I am not sure why I'm getting an error, as you'll see I've got distinct xml file names in them:

I am migrating one of my project to AS3.I have a structure of one main movieclip attached to class MainApp, which is having some movieclips each of those attached to some classes (say MyItem class). Now I am getting two problems,
1. I have some simple movieclip in my MyItem movieclip. The instance name say bg_mc. Now in my MyItem class in AS2 I used to write something like : private var bg_mc:MovieClip;
and then make visible true or false depending on some action.If I am trying to do the same in AS3, it is showing me error saying :
"1151: A conflict exists with definition bg_mc in namespace internal."
If I am attaching the movieclip using addChild then it is fine. But for my app this will be a hectic job as I have atleast 40 of such items and the shape are different. So I have manually placed those movieclips inside whatever designers have given me. Can't we have simple movieclips in a AS3 class without doing addChild?how to call a method from MyItem to MainApp.In AS2 I used to call something like
_parent.onItemSelection (this);
In AS3 the same is throwing some error though I have the method in my MainApp.as file.Both my classes are extending MovieClip class.

Now we are upgrading our flex app with flex sdk 4/4.1 I am still new to flex development and I have a very basic question related to namespace. The company I work for installed FMS on a server running Centos for a customer who needed streaming media capabilities. It worked fine for 3 months until today the customer called us and informed us that their client program can no longer connect to the streaming media server. No one has done anything to the server to cause this to happen. When attempting to access the admin console to diagnose the program, the streaming server returned a 500 Internal Server Error. So I tried another page. Same result. Reboots of both the hardware server and the FMS have changed nothing.

I'm trying to get data from a namespaced xml file in a flex app. There is a root namespace (xmlns="blah") and another namespace (xmlns:i="blah"), and I'm able to access most tags using the following:
var ns:Namespace = doc.namespace();
var result:XMLList = doc.ns::element;
However, there are several tags that are subject to change in the application, and i'd like to not hardcode them, possibly using the elements method:
var result:XMLList = doc.elements(configuredField);
Is there a way to get elements with namespaces using the elements method, or a similar way to get XML elements in flex using a parameter?

ofc i could access the xmlList this way:

but now, how do i access the implemented_with node in the model xmlList? i tried type.ns::model.implemented_with, but didn't work.

I am trying to learn flex4 from adobe document and I am very confused while using three namespaces.. there is no way i can keep track of when to use what often ending up using fx inside mx or s or similarly making some stupid goofed up combinations of {fx,mx,s}.
Adobe document is huge and i am looking for some good starting point for learning flex .

I'm writing some actionscript to provide a flash frontend to an MS Excel spreadsheet. The idea is that the user will be able to press buttons in a flash application, and that will enter data into the spreadsheet (which will be read and written as XML).

I have this XML object, and I need to display parts of it so that the user can copy and paste from it. However, whenever I try to, say, display the category section by doing myXML.category, it puts the namespace information in the attributes of the first <category> tag when it displays the xml. Is there a way to get rid of this?

I'm trying to compile an SWC file from a list of given ActionScript classes. I'm using the compc compiler. The problem is that there are so many classes grouped into multiple namespaces that I am finding it very tedious to specify each individual class to be included in the SWC. Is there any easier way of doing this like just simply specifying a root directory of these classes? At the moment I have something like this:

I'm trying to create a property that can be set by extending classed and read publicly.I couldn't think of a good naming convention for a protected property with a public getter, so I tried to do this:
public function get name():String{ return _name; }
protected function set name(string:String):void
{[code]......
However I get the error (when trying to set name in an extending class): 1178: Attempted access of inaccessible property name through a
reference with static type testing:TestComponent.1059: Property is read-only.
If I change the setter to public, it works fine.

1157: Interface members cannot be declared public, private, protected, or internal.
I'm just curious as to WHY? I don't understand the thinking behind this "law".
Does this perhaps mean that interface properties always need to be public when implemented in the target classes, and produces this error in order to help enforce that law?
I haven't tested if custom namespaces produce the same error. I'll delve deeper into this when I get the time.
