Actionscript 3 :: Stop Mouse_out Firing When Mouse Click Fires?
Oct 17, 2010
I have buttons that have mouse_over, mouse_out and CLICK events. But when I click the button it takes me to another frame and the mouse_out event tried to fire.
I am developing a website with nav items that cover the whole stage from top to bottom (see altered image below) and it is pretty easy for the user to exit the stage with their mouse, not triggering the MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT events required to "turn off" said nav items.
Should I be using Event.MOUSE_LEAVE to detect when the mouse has left the stage, and turn off any enabled nav items? That is what I been trying to do, but have had trouble getting any output from my listener. Any ideas?
I am trying to have two guestures on a SpriteVisualElement which I thought should be pretty simple implemented: Mouse_Move for sweep Gestures and mouse click to enable.. So I have 2 Eventlisteners on my stage:
[Code]...
The main problem is that every type of sweeping on the screen also fires the taphandler().. how to identify the correct event? I tried to to my taphandler only if(!event.buttondown) but no success.
I'm attempting to have a browser window come up when someone clicks on a flash animation I made(an ad). I call addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick); in my init routine as you can see below(the code did not import nicely into this post...) . I also tried addEventListener on my background bitmap but that didn't work any better. The mouse click event never fires. I cut out some of the non-relevent code such as the loading of bitmaps.
When I MOUSE_OUT before the MOUSE_OVER mc is still playing, it doesn't see the MOUSE_OUT. I tried adding a stop(); line to the beginning of the Button1Out function, but that didn't do squat.
I have a presentation which is one movie clip in one frame on the main timeline. The movie clip has quite a lengthy timeline. What I need to do is stop the movie at a frame then play on mouse click and in some cases gotoandplay, then stop again. There are no other movie clips inside the main movie clip and I want there to be no buttons. Just proceed to the next bit on mouse click.
I've got a large scrolling thumbnail gallery which is attaching mc's dynamically based on xml, php, mysql. it's working great. when you click on a thumbnail a popup (within flash, not really a popup) window comes up and will load an .flv, another image and some stats. The popup zooms in over top of the field of thumbnails and the mc containing the thumbnails drops alpha so you can focus on the popup. what I need help figuring out is a way to stop all mouse events on the mc's in that container mc (the thumbnails). right now they are still active behind the popup and they need to be inactive otherwise you can still click on them behind the popup...
I have made a hierarchy in which there is a main page, using add element i have attached a component mxml of type group. There is a single button on main page when clicked it should add children of type group in that group type mxml component along with two buttons. Now using one of buttons i am attaching another component mxml type group. the problem is even they overlap i can still excess the children groups of first group component mxml.
i know this is a problem allread often talked about, but i cant solve it.i want to start and stop a sound with a mouseclick event.the problem seems to be that the click event is never triggered. can anyone see why?
I'm trying to create a preview of which tower is selected for my game. I've set all of the 'background' of the level up with a class called EmptyBlock, which has buttonmode set to false. I then added event listeners to each one (this.addEventListener( MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, onMouseOver ); ) for both MOUSE_OVER, and MOUSE_OUT. Inside my onMouseOver function, I'm manipulating the x/y position of a MovieClip, and setting it's visible status to true. Inside the onMouseOut function, I'm setting the x/y position of the MovieClip to -25, -25 (Offstage, just hiding it from view), and setting it's visible status to false.
However, when I run the code and hover over this class (EmptyBlock), the MovieClip I'm manipulating flickers. It continuously flickers and doesn't stop. I tried creating the MovieClip's class and removing it (Creating in OnMouseOver and removing it in OnMouseOut) but that too flickered. Traces say that it's running the MouseOut constantly while the MovieClip is over it but not when it's not. What am I doing wrong here? I'm probably making a stupid mistake but...
On a second, smaller note: Once this MovieClip's class is created, it obviously intercepts the clicks I want to go to my EmptyBlock class. Is there anyway to forward the click onto my EmptyBlock class? The MC is not a child of my EmptyBlock class (but it is added as a child after the EmptyBlock class).
I added a click event to the stage but this event also fires when i'm clicking a movieclip on the stage.How can i make this event fire only if i click directly on the stage?
I was certain that this type of problem would have been previously discussed here or in a tutorial. I have looked quite a bit and could not find anything that puts all the pieces of my puzzle together.As the movie is playing (looping), I would like the movie to stop at the current frame whenever I click and hold the mouse down within the area of the container. Furthermore, I would like to be able to scrub the movie backward if I drag my mouse to the left within the container and as I reach the left end of the container, the movie is at the first frame. And similarly, I would like to scrub forward if I drag to the right within the container and as I reach the right end of the container, the movie is at the last frame. On top of this daunting task, I would like the movie to resume playing from wherever I have released the mouse.
Here is a file that I have started and I am pretty much at a loss as to where to go now. I know it has something to do with where the mouse is relative to either side of the container, but...how does one get it to work?Basically, I would like to emulate the functionality of the QuickTime Player - the one where you can grab the slider and drag it left or right to scrub in either direction and then upon release of the slider it resumes playing.I do not understand the media components in MX 2004, maybe this type of thing is "easy" to program in to one of those modules?
Overview: I'm creating a menu where buttons have a sub-menu that pops-up when you hover over the main buttons. The menu will eventually be populated by scanning labels in the timeline, and that seems to be working fine so far. Everything works good enough except you can't move your mouse up and down a popped-up sub-menu without the mouse_out function triggering. The mouse_out listener seems to be applied to all individual sub-buttons when I'd like it to apply only to the parent MC container of each sub-menu.
Is there a problem with the way I'm assigning sub-buttons to container MC's ? I've explored using an array to store the MC's as well, but still had the same listener issue. Could someone look at my FLA? If you do a find for "PROBLEM", that is a good place to start.
Has anyone noticed that if you go from one page to another the new selected navigational item's CLICK function fires twice? Put a trace into each CLICK function to see this happening. This is because the CLICK function is being called by the button and the SWFAddressEvent.CHANGE too.
This was working just fine, then flash crashed last night, and now the first event listener keeps firing over and over, endlessly... Even if I remove the listener right there in the function being called...
Edit: Argh, somehow, I must have added a second frame to the timeline (which I have hidden because I'm not using it) so flash was looping the 2 frames over and over...
Code: var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader() xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, LoadXML_complete) xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest("filename.xml"))
I have a MovieClip Button, btn, made up of 2 MovieClips, sqrT and sqrB on top. sqrB is stopped at an empty frame. On Down, sqrB stops at a MovieClip frame, on Up, it goes back to the empty frame. On Click, it traces "Clicked!", but Click never fires. Why is this, and is there a way to make it work without using alpha?
I've got a button that, when clicked runs a method. The method waits for a condition to be met (or rather, waits for a variable to be set in the model) and then updates the view. I did this by setting an ENTER_FRAME listener and it works fine:
ActionScript Code: private function loadHouseRoom(e:MouseEvent):void { view.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,loadStuff);
[Code]....
I also tried setting the addEventListener to use a weak reference, but the Event never gets fired in the first place.
Note: I have to use a method like this. I removed a bunch of code irrelevant to this question to make this more readable, but the user needs to be able to change his mind and click another button before the loadStuff function is called.
I write directly on the time line on the scene and, well... the code looks fine to me, but my list of slideshows (which is what the xml contains) keeps on repeating itselfe... here is the code:
var uloader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); //var slide:Slideshow = new Slideshow(); uloader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loaderCompleteHandler);
I have a pretty elaborate class that extends Socket and performs some serialization and data protocol stuff. It works pretty well when I send small messages. However, when I send anything over about 132KB at once, the SOCKET_DATA progress events stop firing -- or at least the function I've got listening for them does. My class is called RPCSocket and I assign the socketDataHandler function like this in my constructor: addEventListener(ProgressEvent.SOCKET_DATA, socketDataHandler);
My socketDataHandler function (with lots of comments) is attached. Is there some limit to how much data can be sent over a socket at once? Is there something wrong with my code? Here's the trace output: Code: socketdatahandler bytesAvail:4380 buffer length:0 reading bytes into buffer for concat buffer length after concat:4380 buffer state:0 [Code] .....
Is anyone having trouble with Chrome getting NetStream.Play.Stop early in Chrome? Seems to fire around the time the buffer has filled. Same code is and has been working fine in all other browsers for some time.
I'm trying to do a simple url requestion on enter frame, but it seems to be executing multiple times?
I tried removing the event handler on handleLoadSuccessful, that seems to stop it firing infinitely, but its still executing about 10 times before it stops. How do I make it only fire once?
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, onLoadHandler); function onLoadHandler(event:Event) { var scriptRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;254580535;19110122;t?http://www.gamespot.com.au/Ads/gswide/hp/1x1.gif"); var scriptLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
I then populate the page with some Flash controls (in my case, I'm using Uploadify). When I click on the Flash control, I see the alert in Firefox 4. However, I do not see the alert in IE8 or Chrome (I havent tested any other browsers).
I have a custom class extending MovieClip, and in my code I add a few children to this custom class.When I add my mouse over event listener, it works, but it fires every time the mouse rolls over any of the children too!I only want it to fire once when the display object as a whole is rolled over.
I am building a flash interface and I would like a menu where it is hidden to begin with (just a tab). You click the tab to expand it, and click again to collapse it. I've made a movieclip with animation of the menu opening up and closing, but I can't seem to work out how I'd go about making the movieclip open and close properly.
I just started playing around with as3 and I have a function for mouse clicks that draws a shape on each click. However the mouse click event does not appear to work unless I click a movieClip object I placed in the middle of the screen. Is there a way to make the mouse click event recognize when I click anywhere on the screen?
I have a MC that follows the mouse. I want to do so the MC will smoothly/softly stop when i stop moving the mouse. Is it hard to code, And it would be very nice if someone could do some code for it
I changed the mouse cursor using a tutoral from this forum, but when I press the right mouse button,the standard mouse cursor reapears.How to prevent that?
