I'm trying to get specific variables out of a for each loop. These variables are used to display a click event on a marker on a map. If you click the marker on the map, the details pop over it. Now these details are being overwritten each time the loop starts (50 times). The solution I'm looking for, let's me select a marker on the map with the according detail attached to it.
There might be an easy solution but I haven't found it yet.
The code : for each(artistXML in artistList.events.event)
I have a file with a many button instances, the names of which I've put into 2 different arrays. I'm adding an eventListener to each button dynamically using the forEach...in method. I want the buttons in the first array to call a function and the buttons in the second array to call a different function. I'm getting no errors on compilation, but my problem is that buttons in both arrays are calling both functions.
I have been trying to assign tween function in an array through a loop in as3.I have 20 mc on stage, the instance names are obj1, obj2 and so on.I want to assign a tween function to each of them, the function looks like this :
Actionscript Code: function startTween(e:TweenEvent = null):void {xTween = new Tween(obj1, "x", None.easeNone, obj1.x, Math.random()*20, 0.2, true);
what I'm trying to do is to get 4 movieclipps (leaf1, leaf2, leaf3, leaf4) to play the sound that is attached to them when is dragged onto another movieclip (NatureTarget) and the play button is pressed so that the sounds are played in the order they are dragged on. I know I need to use an array and the push function and a loop...
[code]I've tried some various things (including "this"), but basically, I need to loop through data held in arrays to create several dynamically named functions on the the fly.
I want to loop through an array of mc's, and assign each a onRelease function. I have the following code but the trace inside the function doesn't seem to find the array.I understand why but what is the correct way of doing this?
ActionScript Code: var theArray:Array = new Array(); var j:Array = new Array();[code].......
My question is, does a better, faster CPU necessarily equal faster SWF compile times? Or does it rely on something else (OS, memory, etc). I only use AS3 and some of my projects take a while to compile. If certain hardware can guarantee me a faster compile time, it'd be worth including those things in my shopping list.
I can make a normal preloader, with a bar and percent shown and so on... But I want to make a little thing in the middle of the preloader that rotates faster and faster when the percent loaded goes up. This is what I thought would work:
I have a large xml passed from grails to flex. When flex receives the xml, it converts the xml into an associative array object. Given the large xml file, it takes too long to complete the loop, is there any way in flex to make conversion faster? Below is my sample code.
If you place a for loop in a recursive function with the function call within the loop... will the loop finnish or does it stop working untill the last recursion?
I need to know the best method to find an item inside a list (Vector, Array, Dictionary, whatever is faster) of complex type (extensions of Objects and Sprites).I've used "Needle in Haystack" method, but it seems that it isn't fast enough.
E.g.Suppose that I have a collection of Sprites (a pool, in fact).Each sprite will be added to the stage and perform some action. After that, it will die.I don't want to pay the cost to dispose it (garbage collect) and create another (new) one every time so I'll keep the dead sprites in a collection.
Sometimes times I'll call a method that will add a sprite to the stage.This sprite can be a old one, if it is already dead, or a new one, if the pool don't have any free sprite.
One of the scenarios that pushed me to this question was a Particle System.A "head" particle leaving a "trail" of particles every frame and exploding into a flashy multitude of particles... Every frame...Some times this counts up to 50.000 PNGs with motion, rotation, alpha, event dispatching, scale, etc...But, this is JUST ONE scenario...At the moment I'm trying to use a Object Pool with a Linked List...Hopes that it will be faster that running a whole Array/Vector or create new instances every frame an let them dye with Garbage Collection.
[code]in my original code..function "test" will change the x axis of the images by Timer..I wanna the x axis of the images can be changed after every two seconds..but when I run it..it's obvies faster and faster every time when the Timer dispatch the TimeEvent the delay always shorter than the last time.
I have a set of 15 buttons on my stage. Trying to use an array with loop to quickly populate a new array with the instance names of my buttons, then add eventlisteners to all of them quickly too. And yes, I do have the Handler functions written out too, but I didn't include, because the error I'm getting is "TypeError: Error #1006: value is not a function"
and the error keeps pointing to each of of the eventListeners within my for loop.Its saying that each of those eventListeners is a value that is not a function. ?
var btnList:Array = new Array(); var numBtns:int = 15; for (var i:Number = 0; i < numBtns; i++)[code]......
I got a europe map designed in flash (1 movieclip, 1 frame, really simple), which contains the map as drawing objects directly inside the scene and in addition some specific countries as clickable buttons. So far it's working fine. What I need now is to make all the other drawing objects clickable without having to edit and script each object. I'm thinking about something like this (pseudo code):
I have an image slideshow program working right now and it takes in a folder of a hard coded in number of images. I would like to change this so that it can take in a folder and will display all of them no matter the number. Is there a way to do this in flash? I'm thinking something like the foreach loop in perl or other scripting language. It is possible to store then number of images in a text file but I also don't know how to read that in flash either. I'm working in actionscript 3.
ActionScript Code: var answerArray:Array = ["3", "2", "5", "3", "2"]; //these are the correct answers var answeredArray:Array = ["3", "1", "1", "3", "2"]; //this is an example of what the user
I have a variable in a loop that i want to access in a function outside of the loop. However the variable gets deleted when the loop is closed so no longer exists when i call in the function.here is the code; i'm trying to access the variable picHeight from within the scroll function
I'm going to post the full code of the two functions, disregard the "fluff" unrelated to the two functions as it is all working flawless, I've tested this HEAVILY and cannot understand why it keeps setting the entire array to undefined!
Code: // processReplace Function function processReplace(transferFiles) { var processArray:Array = transferFiles.slice();
[Code]....
Basically it's supposed to check to see if the file exists and return as true if it does and add it to a replace array, then the replace array is processed into a single string and put into a dialog box through the flash wrapper prompting them to "replace the files or not".
It makes the replace array just fine, it actually even has the right "count" in it but it's setting all the "filenames" to undefined because of the exists = processSearch function.
I even tried to make a new array and run the search just from that one and set the values from the old one and it's still failing.
Is it because of the "break" or can anyone figure it out? Iknow it's hard because you can't use the code
