Alright so I'm making an animation with Osama Bin Laden. I need a picture of his face so I went to Google and got the picture. Then I went to Paint to crop it out. I went to flash and there's a white box around the picture. How do I get rid of it?
View 1 RepliesI am primarily a designer and a minor programmer. I am pretty new to action script - although I have made numerous buttons and movies in flash. I am re-designing my web site using dreamweaver and I am loading animated flash rollover buttons of my thumnails into dreamweaver. When I view the illustrations page the seven buttons I have plugged in so far show up instantly and work just fine - click on them and they open the page with the illustration, but in Firefox the same page opens with white squares indicating the placing of the rollovers and unless you mouse over them and activate them that is all you see. if you roll over a button and allow the animation to occur you will then see the button and it works etc., but if you navigate back to the page it happens all over again. I have not been able as usual to test it yet in explorer because I don't have a pc - I work on a mac and all my computers are macs. But Safari and Opera work as I had expected.

1st I can't get the link texts to sit on top of the white boxes when it loads.
2nd, after loading the second or third box you'l begin seeing my swapDepths issues surface. I've tried pretty much every combination of swapDepths solutions.
Here is what I need. When the page loads and the box is small the link text is on top so you can read what you're clicking. When you click the link the section enlarges and I need the section to be on top. Whatd'ya think? Anyone up to a challenge? As a bonus question I can't figure out why the text goes all crazy looking at random... even the stationary text but not the dynamic text.
Does anyone know how to remove the white space which shows up under Firefox when viewing your page with a flash movie and an image next/under it? With IE the flash and any images next to it butt against each other like they're supposed to, but under Firefox the white space shows up. How do you get rid of it?
View 2 RepliesI have developed a Flash slideshow that loads 6 images from the web server using an xml loader (the image names are in anxml file), then loads these images into an array. I have an xmlloader to read the xml file, and a Loader that loads the images from the array,and then changes the images every 4 secs or so.
My problem is that when the web page is opened from a client, the space where the flash object is located (in a table)flashes white until the images are loaded. I thought I could fix the problem by making the stage the same color as the background on the web page. No dice, I still see a white box (800x320 px) that is the size of the stage, and the size of the images.When I compile it on my computer, if I look fast I can see a quick flash of white just before the images load!I did not develop the page, but put the Flash code in the index.html page.There is quite a lot of javascript on this page, maybe developed in Dreamweaver.I can attach the action script code if desired, for more clarification. Let me know on this.Basically, the images reside in a folder on the web server, the xml file has the image names, the xml loader reads the xml file,and when it is complete, goes to a routine that takes the name of the image from an xml list I create, and then loads an array.I load the image into the loader, etc. This is clearer with the code. I am using CS4 and a document class, slides.as.
Creating 3 dynamic text fields (caption, caption1 and caption2) on stage loading from XML. First set of data loads fine into respectable fields from XML, however buttons are not changing data on click. Working in Flash 8 using standard XML format. I have traced succesfully. All fields are on main frame (simple test page), but I am still not getting a response from my handlers on prev and next buttons.

View 11 RepliesI'm making a program that draws a grid of boxes and the color of the box must be different to those adjacent to the box. My code compares the current box's color to those to the left and top. If any of them matches, it picks another random number (as the color). For the tiles on the first row/column, I make my grid's array indexes with negative numbers -1 so that it will not match.

I'd like to be able to click on each of the buttons and have the background color change and also have its color name loaded in the dynamic text field. E.g. Clicking the white square would change the background color to white and should also display the text ''white'' in the dynamic text box. This is a combined Dreamweaver/Flash question. I have added to a webpage a flash movie, once I navigate away from that page and then back again I get a white flash when the Flash movie page loads. I have looked through the forum history and tried some various fixes, such as changing the .swf's background color, didn't work, add code in dreamweaver which embeds a darker color, nada.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to use boxes for hit collision. I want to be precise with the collision so I was thinking about making multiple small boxes and checking for collision that way. This maybe a stupid idea or a smart one. If I do this way will that affect the performance of the game even though the boxes are invisible and wont be drawn on the stage.

View 1 RepliesThere is a white space above the flash file. My file is 360 pix high, but I need the default bar at the bottom. So I set it to be 400. But the extra 40 pix got shared by the bar and an unwanted white space on the top.
If I set it to 360, no space, but no bar either. In either case, there is an extra 2 pix double lines on top. I want to remove the space and double lines.

A command window open placing two files in a script folder and then I went to the browser (safari in this case) and there was my webpage with a white space where the Flash video should have been.

When I click on different pages in my flash, for a split second, a white flash shows up, almost as if it's just a blank white page. How can I stop this from happening? It only seems to happen when I loaded the flash into an HTML document. Is there a code I can put in th actionscript to stop it?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to animate a simple stick figure just now. I used an inverted triangle shape for the body,which gives a nice width to the shoulders. Unfortunately, flash doesn't seem to realise that it's a triangle. Due to it's stubborn way of drawing a rectangular bounding box around every shape.
This is getting in the way a lot, as there are parts of figure which are clearly not blocked by the torso, but are blocked by it's big square bounding box, which makes it a nightmare to drag the arms and legs around to where I want them
Is there any way to fix this silly behaviour, and have it only select an object when I click on a visible part of it, and not just anywhere in it's bounding box ?
Is it possible to set up comment boxes on a flash movie? For instance, if I am viewing a page on my flash movie and I wish to make a comment on it, is there a way to set up a comment box and also show all of the previous comments as well? I figure it is but I am just unsure as to how to start it.
