I put some modules in a module folder. How do I import classes with the import statement when I'm in a sub folder?
This won't work, not like classes which are in packages. modules/SomeModule.mxml

Can I import a class if it's above the directory of the swf? Normally you'd use something like ../ but I know that's not correct.

Originally my classes(.as) and project (.fla) were stored in the same directory. But I would like to refactor them. I've created a subdirectory "classes", and moved my classes into this subdirectory but I've got error.
All my classes are stored in one package.
How can I "include" or "import" my classes from a subdirectory of my project?

I'm trying to build my flex modular app, and got the following scenario
Portal (which includes, 2 modules:)
-Mod1 (.swf)
-Mod2 (.swf)
Also, I have Mod1-API (.swc). The Mod1-API, defines interfaces which are implemented on the Mod1 (.swf). Both the Mod1 and Mod2 swfs import the Mod1-API swc. I'm trying to call the API method on the Mod2. On Mod2 I've the interface, since it is shared via the Mod1-API project. What I'm trying to achieve is the real implementation class loading on Mod2, via reflection, using the getDefinitionByName method, but it says its not defined. How from the mod2 load a class that is on the Mod1 project, returning just the interfacce to the mod2 so it can call methods just like an ordinary API method?

When I have a class linked to a MovieClip in my library and that class takes an argument in its constructor method. That class will compile properly ONLY when it's located in my top-level directory (same dir as the .fla and Document.as files). If I move that class to a deeper directory, say com.place, and update the package statement and symbol link appropriately, the compiler will generate error "1136: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected 0."Create flash project and put a rectangle on the stage. Covert it to symbol and assign it to class TestPanel - or whatever you choose. Also configure the fla so that is uses a Document (Main) class.Create Main.as and TestPanel.as in the same folder. In the Main class, instantiate a instance of TestPanel and add it to the stage. Flash will, predictably, add the rectangle symbol and everything is fine.Now modify TestPanel so that its constructor method takes a Number and have Main.as pass some number to TestPanel.[code]You now get the error: 1136: Incorrect number of arguments.Expected 0.When I move the TestPanel.as into a deeper directory, Flash somehow is looking elsewhere for the base class for Symbol, even though I'm mapping that Symbol to com.place.TestPanel.

Currently optimizing an application at work. There are many files in some of the module projects that are not used by the exported (release build) Module.swf's. Are these unused files included in the swf's?

I am coming from flash to flashbuilder I have a directory, AS3_classes_dir, on my computer that stores all of my classes, including my greensock and papervision packages. In every flash app that I make I include that directory in the Source Path, so that I can import whatever I may need. Compiling in flash (using ctrl/enter) takes very little time; only the classes that are specifically imported are compiled.So today I did that in flashbuilder, included AS3_classes_dir via Flex Build Path/Source Path ... but now the compile time are a couple of minutes, even though I am not even importing ANY of the classes from within.

I have created a modular application. I have two modules, for example Module1 and Module2.I have loaded these modules in my application. I am using Parsley in my application. I have loaded separate different context builder in both modules.
But when I am dispatching event from Module1, I am able to listen that event in that Module1 but I am trying to listen that event in another Module2. I am not able to listen that event in that Module2 through Parsley.

Trying to fix other peoples bad coding and I can not change the file structure but I would like to add a class directory and be able to reference it for buttons and variables. The problem is that the directory needs to be up 1 directory so that it can work with all the other files.
Also I need to be able to set it as the symbol property "linkage" class file so I can apply the class to all the buttons.

I have a Flex module created in Flash Builder 4 as a swf file. I am trying to load and run in within a Flash application. I can get the module loaded but I can not get the flash application to access any module functions. Here is how I load the module in Flash and the error I get. If I change the module to an application type swf then it loads and runs but now I have two applications on top of each other. I would like the loaded module swf to be able to have access the Flash stage object.
ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property application not found on MyModule__mx_core_FlexModuleFactory and there is no default value.

I have created few actionscript projects and most of them uses same com/ dir with same classes library such are adobe or greensock.In Flash builder, on one of the projects, I`ve created new source path, to that common dir.So now I have structure like this: MyProject
[source path] com
src (with AS documents)
fla (flash file)
When I edit one of my AS files from src dir in Flash Builder, I can normaly see reference to [source path] com directory, and I have full tooltip reference to it`s content.

However, if I try to edit that same file in flash professional, I get no reference and there is no way I can compile file.What am I doing wrong, why flash professional does not see classes from my com directory? I even try to point it to that dir in actionscript settings but that did not work either.

We have a quiet big flex application compiled with flex 3.4 SDK.We also have several modules to load after some requirements (some at startup, some later).Everything is compiled with the same version.At some point i got this exception on my machine and don't know how to fix it.
VerifyError: Error #1014: Class mx.modules::ModuleBase could not be found.
at flash.display::MovieClip/nextFrame()
at mx.core::FlexModuleFactory/deferredNextFrame()[code]....
I removed and installed already several flashplayer versions, but always the same error.When we copy the artifacts that are compiled on my machine somewhere and somebody else opens it on his machine it works.

i cant find info on this anywhere on google, even adobe's description doesnt work. basically i have figured out how to embed and access the children of a swf built in flash (YAY!!!), but theres another problem now.
a flex module complied to flash behaves differently, and embedding it doesnt seem to work, at all.
however this application pretty much depends on the modules being loaded with the main application so embedding the module is vital. i've tried countless techniques and so far the only thing i know woks so far is:

I have just started looking into using Modules in Flex and would like to know how you all go about developing them.I understand how to use them (load, unload, application domains, shared classes, etc.), but I'm wondering what a good workflow is in creating them and using them in multiple applications.If I were building reusable application components (text editor, image cropper, compass, whatever), and I wanted to reuse them in many different applications, it seems like I would:
1) Create an Application specifically for one of those modules
2) Create a Module inside that Application
3) Develop the Module by itself, make it work right
4) Link shared libraries to it somehow (like library projects I would use between all of the modules)
5) ... then I'm unclear what's next.I now have lets say 10 Module/Applications, and I want to start mashing them together into usable applications.What's the best way to do this?I would like to not have to copy-paste code and swfs, using something like git submodules if an equivalent is possible.

I'm wondering if there's any reasonable way to get a reference to an object in Flex, and look through everything in every sub object (every property and everything). That is, I want to know if I can completely map all of the data within an object, from another object. I'm aware that this wouldn't work for private (or protected) members, but for anything public, it should be possible, correct?

Im using a few modules repeatedly in a Flex app and varying the conditions by passing in params via the 'loaderInfo.url' var. This works fine for the first iteration of a given module but subsequent attempts will always see the same params as the first creation regardless of what is actually used.

When I view the param in the 'CreationComplete' handler (eg 'trace( this.loaderInfo.url );') its the same every time (for a given module) regardless of what is actually passed in via the ?param=string. What am I doing wrong?

I have a Flex 4 application that loads a module. Everything works fine except that I cant create and object or cast an object to a type of my module. At run time it throws an error.
